Hello again, just played it to some pals and also the labrador, We really like the graphics, the lyrics, well everything about it. (We thought the dog did too, but then he sat on the modem.) Anyway, you're really talented. I think I know a way of finding your site, because I'd like to hear more of what you do. All the best. Robin
Many thanks indeed Robin. Edwyn liked it too which meant a lot to me! Did you manage to see any of his comeback gigs - they were great. There's a lovely review of the latest one in the Independent today. Best, David
David - Do you have a web-site? Sadly, No - I didn't get to EC's comeback gigs. I think the tickets went really quickly. I happened to be in London near the Arts Theatre last Monday night, so I dropped in to see if I could get any returns. No luck. However, I did go to the loo downstairs and met Edwyn Collins' Mother. We talked about miracles. (The best conversations happen in the Ladies you know.)
Sending hugs, and listen out for "Life with more Bite" on TV. Italian bobbing for Apples.
Hah - good story about Edwyn's mum. I think there were some ticks left for the following Sunday because a mate of mine got some but maybe they were returns. The main website is the Myspace one which has all the dates for my band plus some tunes - or just click on 'secretstrummer' here and that takes you to the YouTube channel. Most of my stuff more poppy and rocky than this - our only other tribute song is to 80s soccer hard man Billy Whitehurst.
Cheers Neil for the lovely comment. I think Edwyn's record's out on Monday - same day as our tribute released on indiestore. I shall have to check out the Fabulous Artisans! I spend most of my time removing spam comments from this video so great to get a real one ... we're at The Dublin Castle in Camden on Wednesday if you in the area but we find this one v difficult to make work live.
Glorious to see Edwyn back, and making music. I was listening to my old vinyl 12"s just yesterday with his songs Judas In Blue Jeans and Just Call Her Name. What a gift! Thanks for this.
damn, my comment doesn't appear, does it? anyway, what i was trying to say was this sogn reminds me of music from the 1980s-1990s. which in my opinion was my favourite period. or maybe i just dont know my music history....well, nevermind.
i haven't heard the original version, but this song reminds me a lot of the music during the 1980s-1990s, which to me was the best music period ever. (well, maybe i should include the baroque, romantic, er...never mind.)
Cheers Ling - and many thanks indeed for the sub. I think this is a bit different to my other stuff (only When Life Changes is similar). It is the original - ie it's not a cover. The structure of the acoustic version is v similar.
Wow - glad Edwyn is affecting the younger generation too! It says on your channel you're more my age than 7 - or is that you Elaine. Anyway many thanks for the comment.
Many thanks Jon. It's an upright acoustic bass only it isn't - the producer used a synthesizer for a 'walking' bass line on this. But he is a bassist in his covers band and clearly knows what he's doing.
Very beautiful song indeed. Great recording. I never heard about edwyn collins but I will check him out asap. Well done...Did you play all the guitar parts?
Many thanks! If you click the playlist button on the right you'll see a collection of his stuff I've made. Bit of a cult hero. He was big in the UK with Orange Juice in the early 80s then popped up again in the mid 90s with worldwide hit A Girl Like YOu. But no I just play the acoustic on this - you can hardly hear it except at the beginning! If you look on my channel you can hear my home-made acoustic version.
Many thanks Antonio for all your encouragement. I think the Girl Like You nod was a bit of a joint idea - we both felt it needed a few extra elements. I wanted a Rip It Up and Girl Like You riff but can't play either and the producer - who's also in a great covers band - just knocked up the dirty Girl Like You-esque lick in a few seconds from memory!

really great groove to this song :)

Cheers - a lot of the feeling to this one came from the producer. Have a listen to 'original' original listed right to see the difference.

Many thanks Mr Oracle! I'm glad it works for someone who hasn't heard my acoustic version. The producer/arranger put loads of work into this one.
