  • That cockroach doesn't even own a scrap yard. Forget the liar 8 year old, people.

  • Cor blymie! That roach is a bit of all day.

  • The same model as the one in Thailand ........ very nice steam engine.

  • There are more fools than the world can support now..... let this one pass without comment !

  • Don't feed the troll, people.

  • Steam is hear to stay!!!!!

  • Hey people, I believe in free speech, but let's keep things

a bit more civil. Cockroach is putting the bait out and people

are running with it. Just ignore the taunts and try not to let

things get to a personal level.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Glad you austrailians know a good thing when you see it.

  • @cockroach2008 why don't you not watch these engines if you hate them just go watch you diesel engines whats the problem with that so we steam lovers are happy and you diesel lovers are happy it christmas can't we be happy think about the children thats all I have to say.

  • They don't have scrap yards anymore its like when they used to junk old cars they stopped when they realize how important they are I own a 1973 Dodge Dart and is worth more than my dads 2000 Dodge Carvan. The reason we bring engine back is because we want to show people of today what it was like back then to run these pretty massive engines. And another thing if you hate why don't you not watch the videos it seems dumb to watch something you Am I right people?

  • Wait a second! ROACH GET OUT! Second, you my friend have a very nice vid posted! Do you know if she was bulit for Au, or if she was imported? Cause she looks very nice!

  • Just a suggestion, do what the other Steam Engine Video posters do and ban Cockroach2008. He's clearly trolling just for the sake of being a troll. He's probably from that Troll Kingdom Message Board.

  • It looks like an old Baldwin 2-8-2 but the engineer needs slapped for not cutting loose on that whistle, well, Either that or some RED NECK bought it stolen and has it hooked to A boiler run off his exhaust manifolds and is using it on his 4 wheel drive

  • @nkproad777 - Loco 221A was imported by Queensland Railways during the Second World War. It was of a standard design, intended for adaptation to any gauge from metre gauge to standard gauge (221A is gauged to 3' 6", or 1,067mm).

  • everyone mark cockroach's comments as spam all he is doing is trying to make people mad. Thankfully it doesn't work on me.

  • Unless I'm missing something, THEY HAVE THE VALVE GEAR SET WRONG!

The radius rod should be down for forward running - this is a safety feature, so if a lifting link bolt falls out the rod does not drop into full reverse with the engine at speed, which could destroy the locomotive and cause a derailment. They can set it correctly by setting the eccentric to trail the crank pin, not lead it, and the combination lever connection to the valve spindle needs to be reversed.

    Who owns this engine?

  • Dude, how can you hate steam and yet favorite this video?

  • I like diesels, but steam locomotive will always be my favorite. GO **** YOURSELF AND DON'T COME BACK TO YOUTUBE. I WISH YOU CLOSED YOUR ACCOUNT NOW.

  • @Cockroach2008

You say all of these comments about inefficiency and horrible pollution. Though this may be the case, a steam engine actually has a greater power output than a diesel-electric engine. Furthermore, the steam engine can burn ANYTHING to make it move, from coal to something greener. And they just built a new one in Britain that they regularly run on the main line. So quit being a nuisance to those of us who watch these HISTORIC trains and get a life outside of this troll account!

  • @Travinator91: When I told cockroach2008 about the Tornado (the brand new steam engine run in Britain) he said it was "lies and photoshop trickery". haha.

  • @gp40mc

That's actually the one I was referencing. ^^

  • yeah I know.

  • @gp40mc He told me it was written off due to a massive boiler explosion.=P

  • okay, what if I junked the steam locomotives and you liked them? steam locomotives are still around because people still want them around, so they put them in operation or on display in museums, you'll ruin their childhood if you junk them all. go away.

  • it's an improvment. don't make my brother see you, he dosen't like them either. (he's just tired of them because i always talk about them and makes him tirrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeedddddddddd.) you son of a gun cockroach

  • don't you dare.

  • why did i say that? i was trying to teach you a lesson.

  • @Cockroach2008

Mr. Coakroach, did you realize that the United States bought two steam locomotives from China? These tow locomotives are the Qian Jin class steam locomotives. They pull both freight and passenger service. They were saved from being scrapped by the United States. I am pretty sure this speaks on the attitude of American railroads.

  • @Cockroach2008

Oh, and I suppose you know of a better and more efficient way to haul frieght and steam, my ingenious friend? They may be a bit noisy, but steam engines can be much more efficient that some deisel electric locomotives, if they are tweaked the right way. Take my word for it, sonny.

    The Preacherman.

  • @Preacherman1882 As a matter of fact, I do know how to haul freight more efficiently than using this steam locomotive garbage. It is called diesel electric locomotives. With all things considered from maintenance to operation, the diesel electric locomotive or the all electric locomotive is the superior tool. I won't take your word for it because I have seen the whole picture. If they are so efficient, the railroads would be using them. You are looking at operations only. Junk Steam locomotives.

  • @Cockroach2008

Note what I stated earlier and quit being redundant. Electric engines need twice the power to move even lighter loads than steam engines. And Deisel electric engines produce highly toxic pollutants that the atmosphere is not meant to handle. Burning wood, however, is not near as polluting as deisel. And I would be willing to bet that wood is cheaper. Long live steam power.

    The Preacherman.

I have seen the whole picture as well. So do not underestimate my understanding.

  • @Cockroach2008

The only one I see crying here is you. If you are going to participate in a serious debate about the efficiency of steam versus that of deisel/electric power, then act like an adult. You keep reverting back to ideas that have been overruled and discredited. So, unless you can come back with irrefutible evidence that deisel-electric locomotives are by far more efficient and less polluting than Steam locomotives, then do not even bother to continue arguing.

    The Preacherman.

  • I have the facts! Steam can be more powerful. Total cost of ownership is too much. The maintenance required kills them as ever again being profitable. If I am so wrong, then so are the railroads. If cost efficient, steam locomotives would be in common use. They pull one out to amuse a few people, but the equipment is simply a toy! You need a stronger argument against what makes financial common sense. Diesel electric has greater benefits than drawbacks. Fact, Jack!

    Junk the steam locomotive!

  • @Cockroach2008

More power equals the ability to haul a heavier load, being able to transport more at a single time equals higher pay. The higher pay gives the owner of the steam locomotive the ability to pay off whatever costs happen to pop up. Plus, with the types of stronger metals available to build steam locomotives with, maintenence would surely be much cheaper than it used to be.

Got any other facts that I can refute?

    The Preacherman

And the name's Travis. Jack was my Grandfather.

  • @Preacherman1882 More power doesn't mean it is more profitable to operate. Sure, technology has moved on & things have improved. Not to the point where steam locomotives will ever be profitable again soon. You say is, "would surely be much cheaper than it used to be." You are guessing! If true, the railroads would be rushing to have 1000's built. NOT HAPPENING! They built a couple; just amusements. You have no facts! You are guessing! You refute nothing with rhetoric! Their junk! Cut them all!

  • @Cockroach2008

I never thought I would meet the man that was never wrong. It is not happening because the large oil coorperations have taken control of all types of fuel powered transit. That's why we don't have solar powered or steam powered trains. Don't you get that? No matter what, you'll ALWAYS be wrong, because the facts you have are lies circulated by Oil Coorperations! You are being lied to, my friend. How do you feel about that?

    The Preacherman.

  • @Preacherman1882 If the steam locomotive is so efficient, the railroads would be clamoring to have them built to replace their fleets. Oil corporations are not taking control of fuel powered transit. Conspiracy theory does not hold up! I feel you have been believing what you have been told to believe & never researched the facts for yourself. The steam locomotive is not coming back into widespread use ever! You may stay in your fantasy world believing nonsense! Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008

I doubt you even read the things I type, so lets just agree to disagree.

I have ended this argument. My time is much to valuable to waste on you. God bless.

    The Preacherman.

  • @Preacherman1882 Despite what you may think, I have read & considered everything you have typed. Why would you say such a thing? Is it because you are intolerant that other people may have an opposing opinion? Agreed, we do difinitely disagree.

I agree with you to end this discussion with you. I worshipped this morning with the Lord & my conscience is at rest with the fact that steam locomotives are only worthy of scrapping & cutting torches rule!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008

If nothing else, sorry for harrasing you. I will admit I was a tad brash.

    God Bless.

    The Preacherman.

  • @Preacherman1882 May you go in peace! Peace be with you!

    Cockroach

  • @Cockroach2008

Thank you, my friend. Peace. And God Bless.

  • @Cockroach2008 i have always wanted to know. do you hate diesels too?

  • @shadowknight227 I have no problem with steam or diesel locomotives! I scrap them all both!

Any machine which is beyond it's usefulness is a target for my scrap yard!

Steam locomotives are first on my list!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 what about units that are useful, like a gevo?

  • @Cockroach2008 Someone should scrap you too. You are beyond your usefulness. Blowing hot air, polluting the atmosphere with your exhaust and not pulling your own weight. Adios!

  • @panhandle55 Perhaps so! But until they do, I am here to stay!

If you need some QUICK CASH with NO QUESTIONS ASKED, these relics of pot iron have many parts which can be sold on the black market. The money makers are the gauges, whistles, bells, headlights, marker lights, valve handles, sight glasses, control levers, brass bearings & many others.

They are easily accessible & many are quickly removable. Gauges & whistle especially.

When you need CASH, there is a bank on wheels for you!

  • @Cockroach2008 Go away, we aren't interested in what you have to say.

  • @Paraffinmeister I am here to stay. These machines can provide very nice incomes when the parts are removed & sold off on the black market.

Interesting you would say that. My friends like what I have to say, so who is this mysterious "we"?

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 We still aren't interested. Now run along and play nicely, preferably in the middle of a busy road.=)

  • @Paraffinmeister It is not a matter if you are interested or not. I am just posting comments as YouTube invites. If you don't like them, that is fine with me.

I would enjoy scrapping another steam locomotive very soon! I will be delighted to send you the video of it rolling out on the mill gondolas to the foundry for melting!

I can't get into the foundry, but if I did, I would like to post the video's of these junkers being melted for pouring into new products!

    Junk all the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Yes it does, stop talking nonsense and go away.=)

  • @Cockroach2008 Yes it does, as in yes it does matter if we're interested which we aren't so go away.=)

  • @Paraffinmeister Too bad! I am here to stay and the steam locomotives are going to remain a great source of income for sellers on the black market!

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 No it isn't now go away, we don't care what you have to say.=)

  • @Paraffinmeister Believe what you want to believe. I don't care if you want to hear what I say or not. I don't need a speech synthesizer as you. I write & you hear. It must be that assistance wheelchair you are in. Steve Hawkins must envy your wheelchair.

The fact is, parts from these relics can be sold for a hansom price. The gauge sets are worth plenty. Sight glasses, whistles, bells, marker lights, headlights, injector controls. It all sells for CASH with NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

    Go junk them!

  • @Cockroach2008 You obviously do care if you keep replying. Don't bother with the dissabled jokes they don't work.

No they're not, you're talking crap again, stop it and go away. =)

    Bye xx

  • @Cockroach2008, while I appreciate your feelings (it may be true that the individual locomotive parts have a substantial economic value in and of themselves) it is my personal belief that these steam locomotives carry much, much more significance as the sum of their parts, so to speak. This and other steam locomotives evoke images of a time when they helped to build and connect our nation, and sending them to the scrap pile would be of dreadful cost to our historic heritage.

  • @Stussmeister I appreciate your feelings & difference of opinion than mine. Personally, I think these clunkers are no longer worth preservation, shelter, insuring, be permitted to operate or any place where the physical machine be allowed to remain. To me, these relics evoke images of squandered money. They have been preserved in documents, photographs & film. That is where historic heritage is best preserved.

However, I respect your difference of opinion from mine.

  • @Cockroach2008 Junk your house and your lame scrapyard and lame shelter and your lame cash.

  • @Owner4567 No need to! I make plenty in the business I own & run. We are just looking for some fresh steam locomotives to scrap.

    Got any?

  • @Cockroach2008 Aye right, and I'm next in line to the throne!=P

  • @Paraffinmeister That is correct my child. Since I don't know you or who you are, you may be next in line to the throne! Do you mean the king? Or do you mean next in line to the loo?

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Ho ho, funny man! It's called sarchasm and although it's the lowest form of wit, I would appear to have fooled your simple mind with it.=P I was implying that your claims are about as believable as me being the next king of the UK.=P

  • @Cockroach2008 Nope, and even if I did, I wouldn't give them to you.

  • @Owner4567 I don't care what you would do. It is good to know that people are now planning a parts theft from these clunkers. It will disable the steam locomotives for a long period of time, but it will make the people who sell the parts very warm during these coming cold winter months.

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 hater.

  • @Buemmo I don't hate! There is too much energy spent in hate!

I just want to see this clunker wrecked, junked, scrapped, cut apart & melted!

  • @Cockroach2008 Shush.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister What is this supposed to mean? You are about to cry again?

    Junk the steam locomotive!

  • @Cockroach2008 I'm telling you to be quiet. Only crying going on is in the form of tears of laughter at your miserable failure of an existance.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister Tell me anything you like! I will listen & will personally choose what I wish to obey!

The steam locomotive is now an failure of existence. They will be gone very soon!

Then we will hear the tears of joy as my crews get paid for cutting several apart, if we get any to dispose of. I can't say we will or won't get any, but rest assured, they are on the hit list for valuable parts to acquire & sell for QUICK CASH with NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

    Junk the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 I'm begining to doubt that English is even your first language.=P

  • @Cockroach2008 dude i am sorry to say but 3 locomitives in portland oregon are now acctually being used as attractions and they had no place to take them. guess what there are so GREAT that they moved them to a facility that they built just for them. i got to ride a train pulled by one and 2 days later i got to go into it. its more green then diesel electrics (i still love those too but come on!) you can't break the originals.

  • @N617A These things are no where near green! They are the biggest polluters we ever made.

We know where those are in Portland. I let people know is CASH for those parts. The parts can be sold to high paying collectors who will ASK NO QUESTIONS.

It is just a matter of time!

They need to be taken apart, cut apart, scrapped & melted!

  • @Cockroach2008 ok so you support having cash which because of that green shit people are being sent on the street starving. and it sounds like what you want to make them into are even bigger polluters. fire place material? thats like making a nuclear power plant into a factory. both pollute with the smokestacks but one is smaller. think about it. plus diesel electric locomotives run on fuel! steams do not. what happenes if we run out of diesel fuel buddy? something to consider.

  • @N617A Nothing to consider! We will not run out of diesel fuel!

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 hmm... interesting you would say that... because last i heard fuel is what is damaging the planet, fuel is a pain in the ASS to get and of course steam locomotives... i agree they chop down trees and take coal but we already take trees and coal for other things. last i heard the material for fuel has 1 use. fuel. and reading your last comments you a paper guy huh? we use trees for paper. diesel electrics stay but so do steam its all or nothing. period.

  • @N617A It is the inefficient burning of fossil fuels which is polluting. Steam locomotives are very inefficient when compared to diesel electric locomotives.

    Junk the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 ok my lil friend tell me 3 things. 1 what do u plan on using the remaining parts for? 2 what leads you to believe your previous comment and 3 diesel electrics run off fuel made out of fossils do they not? if not tell me what.

  • @N617A 1. The parts are either collectors items or melt for the foundry. 2. There are other things beside fossil fuels which will burn in a diesel electric engine. They may need retuning to burn other fuels & may not be as efficient as diesel fuel, but it will work. 3. At present yes, but the diesel engine can be re-tuned to burn many other heavy low grade fuels. Corn fuel is one, cooking oil.

The steam locomotive is not coming back to regular commercial service.

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 so what your saying is you would rather split a steam locomotive and keep them all as displays? you know man the hardly ever move anyway. there used for events mostly now. u like elevators? i love them. so you have the modern ones today and they got the heavy doors and i mean.... nobody really enjoys riding them (except for me and a few other people.) the old elevators with the gates however.... o my gosh.... everyone should ride one once in there life. same goes for the steams.

  • @N617A That is correct! I want to cut up the steam locomotives & send it to the foundry for melting!

  • @Cockroach2008 hmm... well then if this does happen then... keep one. EVERYONE should ride one at least... nah keep 2 easier for the coasts. other people do care about these.

  • @N617A No keeping any of them! They are junk & metal materials for the next round of technology!

Cut them up, melt them down!

  • @Cockroach2008 let me ask you something are you saying all of this to piss people off? if you wanted to express your opinion thats fine but u don't have to be an ass to EVERYONE trying to save this technology. and i wont do it but there are some history folk here that have different opinions and lets just say we wouldn't want you to get lost in your saws. so if your going to express your opinion don't do it in a damn place where you know ppl r gonna get pissed. thats y u do it.

  • @N617A No, I don't do this to anger any one! (You choose a more vulgar term!)

Since you admit, "It is fine to express my opinion.", I don't feel have embarrassed myself in any manner. Those who respond angrily who are denigrating themselves!

Differing opinions are fine with me. All are welcome to express it here. I am comfortable with my scrapping equipment!

I didn't intend to anger anyone. My comment is posted as YouTube invites!

    I post comment where permitted!

You don't have to like it!

  • @Cockroach2008 i am not saying i don't like it. i respect EVERYONES opinion. i just find it odd that you put these comments on a place where u damn well know people who love steam locomotives are going to go... i mean its like those idiots who go on to.... lets see... a green day video for instance. they all give the "green day sucks" opinions to piss people who love green day off... if your not doing that we all know your opinion (written all over here) so lets just stop with this...

  • @N617A You can anything odd if you want. I did not know people came here to watch them. I come here to watch for another source of scrap metal. We know they are not going to last & are too expensive to be supported much longer!

I am entitled to post my comment as YouTube invites.

I am delighted to read how this pleases you!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 It's clear to all except yourelf you have no idea what you're talking about. Please stop for your own sake.

  • @Cockroach2008 indeed it does please me that people express there opinion. however wouldn't it kind of be common sence that people who LIKE steam locomotives will come to watch this video? i mean really man are you just doing this to piss people off? i mean why are you posting these mean comments when people who like these all come here? i mean really bro commenting is one thing but putting up a fight with EVERYONE who likes these seems kind of mean. i mean come on man really?

  • @N617A I like steam locomotives too! I like to junk them out, bust them down, cut them apart, load them up so we can sell it to the foundry for melt. It makes me money!

It is not intended to anger anyone. I am leaving my comment as YouTube invites.

Not everyone likes operating steam locomotives. I have plenty of fans who want to see these graffiti painted, stripped, cut apart & melted.

    It keeps my employees paid!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 well man. if it keeps your employees paid thats fine. but here is the thing. at least 1 has to stay fair and square. not MY opinion but its that or WW3... oh hey and do me a favor and don't touch old elevators. do you like them and not in the way of violent ripping? in fact have you ever seen an old elevator and if you have did you enjoy it? was it more fun then these modern ones today?

  • @N617A Yes I have seen old elevators & ridden in them. That is the ones where an outside & an inside manual gate had to be closed, a lever turned to the floor desired & then the gates had to be manually opened again.

I have even had freight elevators with vertical shuttering gates. Pretty interesting. I did have to junk some of them because they were replaced.

I enjoyed seeing them, knowing what they are, but I had no funding to maintain or restore them. They are well documented. Escalators?

  • @Cockroach2008 sucks that u had to junk em... feel bad about doin that? damn replacements... replace the old good elevators that KNOW there job and ARE elevators. the original cast knowing how to do its job best. so see i am an elevator man (watch my vids) come across some pretty good stuff. see with these pretty little things these are what are remembered as elevators by people who were alive when the originals came out... escalators look the same old or new right?

  • @N617A Not really bad about it. I don't like scrapping serviceable machines which people appreciate & financially support at no cost to me. I appreciate them for what they were & how they served.

But scrapping is a business. And business has no heart! And business is about money!

The elevators were replaced because of manpower & maintenance costs of old equipment & sometimes corporate image.

Escalators look the same, but materials have changed. Lighter weight, wear longer & operational cost!

  • @Cockroach2008 y know i can understand wanting money for keeping food on the table. everyone wants it everyone needs it. were not in the best positions to get money fast anymore. it used to be fair oportunity where everyone had a fair chance but not anymore... at least thats the way I see it disagree if you may. but.... wait a minute what shredding plant do you work at/manage/own/woo hoo?

  • @N617A Money to survive is what it is all about!

I have my own equipment which we operate here. But often we go to the site where the junk is located because it just cannot be transported.

  • @Cockroach2008 what else do you junk?

  • @N617A Cars, trucks, busses, home appliances, old railroad equipment, old farm equipment, siding, construction debris with metal content, broken light standards, broken traffic standards, electronic equipment.

You name it, if it has metal in it, we junk it, scrap it, cut it up & dispose of it to a foundry for melting.

  • @Cockroach2008 wow go green for melting... if you guys already have broken metal to cut why would you go for a steam locomotive? and an elevator... i mean it seems that a steam locomotive sitting there working perfectly wouldn't be anything against something that does NOT work... just saying

  • @N617A We go after the stuff which is destined to be scrapped. We don't get a lot of choice of what to scrap, but when on the block for scrapping, we make our bid.

If I don't scrap it, someone else will. The materials I have scrapped, elevators, cars, trucks, buses, old railroad equipment, home & industrial appliances, farm equipment & steam locomotives have been put up for scrap. We bid for it.

We are not in the preservation business, I am in the scrap business! We don't save it, we cut it!

  • @Cockroach2008 ok i get that cut it part my friend we have been talking about that for a month now. so if these werent in bids for scrapping you would leave them alone?

  • @N617A I would. However, I would still want to see them cut apart & melted. I would let people know where they are & that the parts could be sold.

I would like to see or hear that they have all been junked, cut apart & melted!

  • @Cockroach2008 jeez dude why you so mad at them? i mean its not like this is the ONLY machine we ever invented with serviceable parts. i get the feeling you just HATE the lil locomotives.

  • @Cockroach2008 You have no heart, otherwise you'd produce something of value.

  • @paullubliner I do produce something of value! It is scrap iron, steel & metal which can be melted & reused!

The steam locomotives is a target for scrapping! Especially now since it is rumored that Quorans are being burned within the boiler fireboxes of the steam locomotives!

My Muslim brothers need to know about this!

  • @Cockroach2008: That's self delusion. You've PRODUCED nothing. Processed yes, produced no. Iron ore is abundant. Factor in transportation costs whilst taking into account rising fuel costs far cheaper processing than you could ever manage in China and you may find yourself looking for work. McDonald's is hiring.

  • @paullubliner Oh, so you have been looking into a bright future for yourself at McDonald's restaurants, have you? Most astute! Seems like a promising career for you. You are about to be dropped as 4th OOW? No surprise to me! They found your work as error filled as what you write to me here!

I have produced scrap metal for the foundry. I cut it all down into sizes small enough to fit through the furnace opening or weights which won't crack the crucible when dropped into molten material.

  • @Cockroach2008 Yes as CEO. You can scrap out the older frying equipment as you've much in common with it.

  • @paullubliner Good luck as a new CEO of McDonalds. It seems to fit you!

I will continue scrapping steel, iron & other metals. I enjoy it immensely! Steam locomotives make great scrap metal value!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives! It is fun to see the rivulets of molten iron run from a deep cut in the axles as the steam locomotives are given the final coup de gras!

More fun to watch larger parts sink over 45 minutes under a pool of molten metal in a crucible in an induction furnace!

  • @Cockroach2008 Wow, you're STILL at it? Well it's gotten REAL old to me, so I don't give a shit about your replies any more.

  • @isitelectric I never asked you to care! I don't care what it has become to you!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives! Cut them apart, melt them down & pour them into the molds for new shiny products. May those parts be transportation products like trucks, cars, buses or railroad locomotives or cars.

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Eh, yes we will! Alot sooner than we will run out of coal too! Even taking into account any new finds, we have possibly 100 years worth of oil (going by current levels of consumption) left, compared to nearly 800 years worth of coal. FACT.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister Not to worry, sonny! Alternatives are on the way! Maybe they won't be as powerful, however, they will burn more efficiently, pollute less & be safer for all of us.

The steam locomotive is not coming back. There are plenty of people out there who are coveting the parts of steam locomotives & they are being targeted for a little larceny. Then those parts will be sold to collectors or turned in for their scrap value who need the CASH to survive. All with NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

  • @Cockroach2008 I think you'll find steam making something of a comeback, just not in it's traditional form. Steam has the advantage of being able to run on anything so long as it'll produce heat, diesel can't, simple as. As for electric, the majority of that is produced by steam power (either neuclear or fossil fuel), although obviously that can come from other sources.

Cut the crap about stripping steam locos for parts, we know you're talking bullshit so give it up.

  • @Paraffinmeister Steam is a great power source for fixed station power generation. It is pitifully inefficient when used in mobile power generation. Too much energy used to produce what it does.

No question, steam power is here to stay for awhile longer in fixed station generation.

But the steam locomotive, it is off to the junk yard with those things. We will be happy to destroy more of them. Doing so provides paying work for my crews!

  • @Cockroach2008 What a shame nobody would ever sell you one even if you did run this mythical scrap buisness.=P

  • @Paraffinmeister We are pretty close to getting another which was a city park display!

Don't count that we won't get another!

  • @Cockroach2008 Details required (works number, road number, class, date of construction etc). Unless you can furnish us with such basic details as that, then your claim can be filed with all the other lies and rubbish you've told us in the past.

  • @Cockroach2008 Seriously, you're talking utter crap as per ususal and not only that it doesn't even make sense! "I let people know is CASH for these parts." makes no sense at all! If you do insist on wasting your time writing these usless, pointless comments, at least learn to read, speak and write English for god sake.

  • @Paraffinmeister The parts of steam locomotives are highly coveted by many people. If they can not have the entire machine, they would be very happy with a part of it!

Gauge sets, whistles, bells, valve handles, headlight, marker lights, builder's plate, herald boards or any of the many other parts.

These parts are collectible & there are people who need the money if they had them to sell. Raiding a steam locomotive stable is easy!

Informing where the parts are is a good deed!

    Don't argue!

  • @Cockroach2008 Not only are you talking crap you're missing the point. Don't argue because unlike you, I know what I'm talking about!

  • I have facts! You need a stronger argument against good financial common sense. Diesel electric has greater benefits than drawbacks. Those are facts, Jack!

    Junk the steam locomotive!

  • @Preacherman1882 - At best, most steam locomotives were only about 8% thermally efficient - the figure is closer to 20% for diesel. And wood does not burn as hot as good quality steaming anthracite coal, meaning you would have to cart around twice or more as much wood to do the same job as a bunker of coal, or that little bitty fuel tank between the bogies of your diesel electric. Steam loco horsepower is calculated differently from diesels and electrics, as well.

  • @Jemalacane There's 5 actually. Two QJs are operating the Iowa Interstate, and another QJ is running for RJ Corman in Kentucky. Also there are two chinese built mikados also operating: SY class #142 and I forget what the other one was.

  • Steam engines are nice, but I prefer diesel engines (mostly taiga drummers). Steam engines are in grave because there were invented better meanings of transportation.

  • Diesel oil is not a naturally occurring substance, coal is. If coal is spilled into a body of water during a derailment no harm will come to the environment. But if diesel oil, engine oil, coolant ,etc. from the diesel locomotive enters a body of water during a derailment then it is a huge ecological disaster. I know for a fact that coal, wood and propane fired steam locomotives pollute less than a diesel locomotive. Oil fired steam locomotives(UP #844 and#3985) are equalivant to diesel locomotive.

  • Steam locomotives are going to be around for a long, long time. In your life time you may see the transition from diesel back to steam when the oil reserves go dry.

  • You have absolutely no idea of what you speak of. I know for a fact that steam locomotives are being restored, even with the economy being sour. Since I have been communicating with you I have volunteered all the extra hours I have available at the transportation museum working on a Mikado so she'll be ready to go sooner. Keep living in your own little fantasy land because that is the only place steam locomotives will cease to run.

  • @1971Copperhead1968 I'd love to see more steam passenger service...I'd pay big bucks to travel the country in one.

  • @baritonebynight Something magical about a steam locomotive, I believe many people would do the same. Myself included.

  • ...or sunspot activity reaches a certain level that shuts a diesel down completely.....

  • B-E-Autifull

  • nice baldwins are my favorite type of steam train

  • Terribe sounds, but for what i could hear of the engine, not bad.Enjoyed the wheel spin from the takeoff.

  • WOW! This is a USATC S118 Class 2-8-2. We have two sister engines to this loco operating here in the US - #190 and #192. Both of those were used on the White Pass and Yukon Railway in Alaska.

    Great video!

  • Is there any links you could give to photos of these sister engines? Thanks

  • I hope he closed those cylinder cocks before he got steam lock.

  • Yes, love how she peeled out just a little bit in the start.

  • Nice vid. Love the wheelslip!

  • Thanks for the rating !
