when the books finish it'd be so cool if you could play as historic characters in alagaesia (eg. Brom, Vrael, origninal Eragon, Oromis etc)

Quite frankly, I hate when people crticize writers just because they are popular. No one EVER gives King a hard time and he has millions of followers around the world AND has tones of really terrible films. Paolini, Rowling and Meyer have stories that work the the genre they picked. They write in different styles and use different processes. Just because they made money is no reason to start talking crap about their novels. Popularity is no reason to judge,

I read Eldest, and it's pretty cool, yeah it is not the most original thing ever but still being a good book... Before critizizing ask yourself, can you can write a better book? (by the way I think exactly the same as you but not against paolini but rowling...and meyer now)

I've gotta say; these books are just terrible. Aside from the fact that the writing just plain sucks, there are too many holes and inconsistencies in the plot to count. All the characters are cliche and one dimensional; Eragon, Arya and Roran are perfect examples of this.

And the dwarvish language not being based off anything? Dont make me laugh. The whole 'dwarvish' language is just a bunch of names that Tolkien created, save for that Chris swapped one or two letters around. Original my ass.

of course, at least in one point you're right. Paolini took a few things from other books like Tolkien's but the put them together himself wonderfully that makes the book just great.

Chris has said many times that he wrote the book by taking all the things he loves about fantasy stories and putting it all together, creating the Inheritance cycle. Plus, if the books are terrible, then why do so many people read them???

Maybe because of publicity and marketing, Twilight series is even worst and it still having billions of readers, and harry potter is not that original (search for the worst witch, earthsea, books of magic and wizard's hall) I'm not saying all of them are terrible, just saying that the fact many people read it doesn't mean it is good, all that depend on personal opinions

wtf? And it's better than the American Public School System? Is that a joke? American Public Schools are a joke right now. Just think about it this way, Paolini, may be a crap writer as you say, but he will always be richer than you could ever hope to be. So, uh, jump off a cliff or something.
