hey just followed your video step by step and im not getting any sound. when i try to create notes on my midi keyboard it is picked up by the synth but no sound output. any ideas? im new to reason so dont really understand it yet.
@randympreston I don't know who said vocoder first, because I only watched the first 30 sec of the video, but it's genious! I already can beatbox dubstep, so this is gonna save me half they time!
@gavinjamesaitken1 Well that's actually not that complicated i think. Try an osc with saw, 2nd osc with saw +7 semitones, filter with 12db, boost the bass with eq, compress with mid attack, and that MAYBE could it be ;-)
It wont let me get the knobs anywhere near the right precision.. like for instance on the MClass Equalizer, on param 1, i change the frequency to what you said to the video, and the minimum i can get to the number is 3.156 kHz, then i go the tiniest bit more, then it says 4.847 kHz. >.<
on a more serious note i have a question. You think you could show us how to make this kind of funky bass? i dont mean the sound itself i mean how to chop and change it and kind play with it. I dont know how to describe it but i guess its done with automation.
My question - can you please explain your using the imager at that point in the fx chain, and also your parameters on it? Why spread the low band and narrow the highs? Is that just how it sounded right? Also... if you were to choose to split and further modulate your frequencies would you want the imager to come after everything (outside the combi) or closer to the source (modulate the frequencies after they have been stereo imaged)
Hey this vid is great, good job, been using this program for awhile but never messed with the LFO rate before. How do i change the LFO rate temporarily in the music so i can slow it down or speed it up during the song? thanks ^^
I think i figured out the reverse wah problem. If you go down to the modulation part and set the amount to -100 instead of 100 you should get the non-reversed sound! Hope this helps!
Dude what are you always doing with the PW knob on saw waves? PW is only for squares. Don't get me wrong man I see you obviously know what your doing as you really hit these sounds on the head with your patches but then there's always these pointless steps.... I don't get it...
@bikekid2222 ya my bad it was the bodyrox vid where he does it to saws and sines.... ;) And he changes equalizer shelves that he doesn't activate now and then too.... Wierd approach.... But Yeah there are no rights and wrongs I guess....
hey man great tut but it seem im not the only one having trouble with automating the lfo can u give a tut on that i can automate it but its not the right sound at all thanx
nice tutorial, now days i wish that i had bought reason instead of fl studio, anyway i'll buy it anyway, and fl is also great only the synths not (except for sytrus), so you got to buy more synth's and effects all the time, that's why reason is better.
yeah i fookin hate haters , if u can do better than do it dont piss n moan about someone who is only trying to help people who want to learn more like myself . thanks lucky
listen the bass is ALL wrong.. ok use thor...sine wave and use a scream on digital.. then use the filter env and sidechain it.. ok? sorry but your way off.. the sound is a the low note sine with digital distortion warping.. then another synth with the high notes. yu dont use more than one osc.. your teaching the total wrong sound.. and dude.. press a key everytime you make a change. people dont remember numbers bro.. trust me.
Excellent information. Some people may complain that it doesn't sound EXACTLY like the Crookers synth but so what? I know something really cool I didn't know before. and IMHO close enough. I don't want to sound exactly like anyone else anyway.
good tutorial man. would just be cool if u could explain the differences each setting makes because it would allow people to learn more from it. still good though :)
jesus i gotta get on this level man.. i just got reason and this is like rocket science for me...do me a favor a comment my songs iv posted. maybe with some tips!
is there any way I can get the pitch bend to stop bending the pitch, AND have the pitch bend control the amount of wobble? The way I have it set up in Ableton Live's Sampler is: Mod wheel turns up the wobble, pitch bend slows/speeds the wobble.. IS this possible with this patch?
Got the Mod wheel to bring the synced wobble from 1/8 to 1/16 wish I could figure out how to get a 1/12ths in between.. also turned down the pitch bend range to 0 and i'm using the pitch bend to raise the LPFilter Frequency.. That way you don't have to use the automation tip he included, you can actually play all those variations LIVE!
Good tutorials you got here. My only suggestion would be to play the keyboard as you're building the sound so we hear the changes as you add things and if not that then play it at the end so we hear the end result.
probably the least accurate of all your freakishly good recreations. but im not complaining, i like this synth more than the original, its a real good starting point to further customise your own sound. amazing work mr lucky, keep it up !! !!
The thing is, if you copy someone's synth, you look unoriginal and are basically doing something which has already been done before. I realised why i don't comment on youtube and it is because there are many stupid people out there with too much confidence. And this will be my last!

Lucky date your sick!! Have u herd of Wolf Gang Gartner this guys basslines for electro house are F'in amazin check him out and see wat u can do!! Your the man for the job!! PEACE
This is just another awesome tutorial, but I can't get my LFO Rate to do the right thing.
When I just try to create the same bassline as in Day 'N Nite, I change my LFO Rate on count 5 (to 1/4) and on count 8 (to 1/8), but do I have to change the waveform too? (because I get some kind of a reversed wah sound).
How did you get the automation right?
By the way... what's the progress on your next refill?
the Triangle Waveform goes up and down Smoothly, And then we have the selection under that gos up and than straight down, and under that, exacly the same exept reversed (so you get that lasergunshot effect), The Squire goes straight up and straight down,
Simple as that. If you want youre LFO to go with youre tempo, push tempo sync, and youse the waveform at youre choice

MalPhunktion 2 years ago
i had the same problem, you can change the wav form but what i did was cut of the lfo for that section and by hand automated the filter frequency...
refill should be up in less than 2 weeks!!

I automated the Filter Freq (from the routing) and it did work, so thanks a lot :)
And when you finish the refill, just us know. Will definitely buy it.

remember to switch on Sync,
