All the salt in the water causes the density to be higher than that of the human body, so much that we just float.

See it this way, take a bowl of honey and a bowl of water. For which bowl is it harder to push your hand to the bottom? The honey; this is because its density is higher.

The same applies to the water, gravity has a harder job pulling you down through the dense water; our "honey" in this case.
