I guess you could say this is a tribute to the Kodak Company in Rochester, NY and if you listen to the lyrics, you can understand my feelings of this product bringing back so many wonderful memories.
Thanks Paul (Paul Simon) for such a fantastic song with so many great memories... You are truly one of the greatest singers and songwriters in the world...
Reading about the Kodak Bankruptcy was like seeing the end os an era. I never had much of a relationship with my father, but he captured my life on kodak film and that was our bond. I've had the opportunity to watch my childhood though his eyes via film There will never be another Kodak or another Kodachrome
You are so very right. I feel the same way when listening to this song as it brings back so many memories that I had with my dad as well. I have all the Kodak Super 8 cartridges and I do get emotional when watching them...
I grew up in a Kodak family in Rochester, NY. Today –the day of the bankruptcy filing—is so incredibly sad. I’m playing this song for that city—a great place to live, due in large part to George Eastman. I hope the world never forgets Kodachrome or Kodak!
A wonderful song by Paul Simon, one of my all time favorites. And quite appropriate to listen to right now as Kodak filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy today. A sad end to an iconic legend of photography.
I loved Kodak. Kodachorme, Ectachrome. etc. Kodak and Memories of my school days, My first camera name is "Kodak Instamatic 35' after that "Yashica Lynx5000", "Nikon F2AS"......
Wish I still had my old Nikon camera. I got a NEW digital for X-Mas 2 years ago, & I STILL can't figure out how to use the son-of-a-bitch! HAPPY HOLIDYS TO ALL!
Wow, sooooo gooooood!!!! They won't be able to make tunes like this ever again. When I was young, in the 70's just a growing boy in NY in the heat of summer this song would come on and I would sing along with it and it made me feel great It still does!
I saw this song on the T.V. 's 1980's hits it brings me back to the good old days when I was young and Cancer free. Thank you for posting this video :)
I was in the car with my best friend listening to this when the last thing he ever told before he passed away, he turned this up and said"I LOVE THIS SONG MAN, IT REMINDS ME OF CONEHEADS THOUGH"
Aside from the fact that I have always loved this song - it is so refreshing to see some positive and supportive comments here on the tube. To the person who put a lot of effort into this - Good for you! Really enjoyed it. Thank You!
Thanks for the Blessing for me and Bailey we are doing Fantastic now! Your video was actually posted in one of my Photo Groups and now I wake up to it every Morning! Love it!
On the day they discontinued Kodachrome, a wonderful girl fell asleep on my shoulder in the back seat while listening to this song after a summer day of whitewater rafting.
Still reminds me of her every time I hear the song. Bittersweet.
@vertigo453 As another said, MTV debuted in 1981 and with Video Killed The Radio Star. This is a 70s song with a 60s holdover style. MTV started off with late 70s/early 80s music in 1981.
Grew up poor; never heard of Kodachrome/Nikon. Made up my own meaning. Thought he said: I got a nice virgin and I want to take for my bride so momma don’t take my chromosomes away. Thought he was unborn and his mom used drugs which could damage his genes. Trying to make sense of the world in the 70s with limited background knowledge. Always loved Paul Simon. Thank God for Radio. What a contrast between what the music back then made us think about and what music makes you think about now.

I believe in all your comments - but there is missing some facts:
Right now they are trying to produce the fastest mega print machine - the goal is to have a huge printer which can produce 4000 A4 pages per minut - in color.
So I dont think they are going down - but they need to focus on the market where the money is. At this moment they have too many people to pay every month - that is a big problem when you are waiting for the next miracle to sell.
Love love love this song! So many memories but most of all standing (yes standing) on my mothers red leather seats in her black chevelle as she drove through our little town. I would dance and she would sing. Omg to think of it now, but hey it was 1974 things were much different then!!! lol
There is hope though the Panasonic Lumix FZ100 has a "Nostalgic film mode" which looks rather like Kodachome. This looks especially nice on a big IPS monitor :) It's my favorite mode. Of course being able to shoot over a thousand pictures or well over 300 even in RAW mode not to mention over an hour of full 1080 HD video on an 8 gigabyte card it's even better than the real thing and of course being better than the real thing was the whole point of Kodachome :)
A) I loved this song when I was 7. I had a 78 of it. I can still sing it 40 years later. B) I didn't know it was Paul Simon until I heard it on NPR recently. Listeners were going off about whether Slip Sliding Away should be a commercial. C)Thank you for sharing it. Unless you are going on 50 or older, you probably don't realize how how happy you make us who are.
Great song, brings me back memories hearing this song on the radio in the car with my dad i'd be in the back seat, we would sing this song... He Passed away on my B-Day Jan 29th 2011... R.I.P. Dotay i miss you so much....
@carann5 Sorry for your loss. Maybe I know how it is for you. Lost my dad in the age of 74 - young in his mind and never sick. Got an heart attack and died instantly. That was his wish to go quickly but a chock for us. Amongs other songs this reminds me of him. Take care and keep all your good memories from him with you.
@1stFamNewEngland It was ment for you - but listening to the song makes me do a mistake and created an answer for carann5 instead. But the words was all mine - to you.
@1stFamNewEngland Sorry for your loss. Music is a very big part of who I am. Music is my means of travel----forward to a distant dream or back to a treasured memory.

Pretty awesome video! Only thing is, with all the digital cinema and film that is used now, does Kodachrome process film still exist, or has Kodak taken its Kodachrome away? Especially since only THEY were the ones who could process it.
@Halpin2006 Kodachrome has been out of production for quite a while, although you may be able to get a roll or 2 off ebay. It would be impossible to process since Kodak does not produce the chemicals to process it anymore
@sil3ntw0lf00 Well how about that? So Kodak took its own Kodachrome away!
Well, I used more color negative film than slide film in my day anyhow. And now I have to get ALL MY WORK DIGITALIZED! Talk about a change of the times!
@Halpin2006 The last batch of Kodachrome was made in 2007, and the last batch was processed in 2010 by Dwayne's Photo in Kansas. There were lots of articles about it, of course citing this song.
@Halpin2006 Kodak will likely go out of business soon due to their failure to progress in to the digital era. In 50 years any Kodak will be work a lot of money for those enthusiasts.
@mikeswanon8989 No, Kodak is too huge and legendary to bite the dust like Polaroid did. Kodak will continue, but mostly now offering print paper, print chemicals and inks, and related camera and photography accessories. Kodak will still offer chemical process film, but that will now be used mostly by professional photographers and artists who prefer that old medium. The larger consumer market no longer will, as it costs much more time, money, materials, and effort.
@Halpin2006 The market has no regard for the size of a company or it's history. I respectfully disagree, they have unsustainable levels of debt and next years current liabilities will exceed current assets. They already hold only 6.2 billion in assets, yet 7.3 in liabilities. Last fiscal year they posted a net loss of half a billion. It has been progressively getting worse each year and they have failed at any attempts to rebuild their business plan.
i ment the fact im 10 NOW. ivw been listen 2 this as long as i remember and my fav song is the gambler kenny rogers............... LISTEN 2 IT U WILL LOVE IUT PPPPPPWWWWWWWWWWZZZZZZZ (aka plz akaka plese)
I still have kodachrome pictures taken by my grandfather in the early 60's. they still look as pristine today as they day they were taken. Better than most modern digital cameras. Sadly they finally took our Kodachrome away. Kodak quit making it in 2009 and the last roll was developed in 2010. Kodachrome had the resolution of a 20 megapixel digital camera.
I loved your interpretation of this classic. I'm an animator, and I've been using the new Cycles rendering engine for Blender. There's an option in Cycles allowing the use of different types of film to render your shots. It has about five different brands of film (including Kodak) and each of those brands have about 15 of their popular types. So there's five different Kodakromes and each looks different. Now this song plays in my head every time I use Cyles! So I had to come fave the real thing.
@pinkpony193 Cool I'm 13. Been listening since I was 11. My dad is awesome too because he let me listen to whatever type of music I wanted. When I was really young I used to listen to pop and now i love the classics! Which is why my dad was so surprised when I listen to these songs along with him. :D
Brings me back to the good ol' days before digital photos. I don't care what kind of DSLR you get, you'll never get those colors, or that super Black and White photo! :-D
I'm 16, but for the rest of my life I'm associating this song with the last two weeks of May 2011. I don't know why, I've always liked the song, but it's just giving me the vibe I had for those couple weeks. Especially the first line of the song...
This isn't "movie taking"..Who gives a fck except you nerds that have nothing better to do. Why don't you negative posters do this; Post something or SHUT the f up
Only Paul Simon can make damn song about a camera/film and make it great!! A great artist and here's one example of why. Many more though. Thanks for the vid

Noting quite captures the fell of this song, like a bunch of digital camera photos, and a picture of a film box. Really?

Brings me back to the good ol' days before digital photos. I don't care what kind of DSLR you get, you'll never get those colors, or that super Black and White photo! :-D

I have to admit that I do like the new CCD image receptors in the digital cameras. But this song did so much for the movir Coneheads;

I'm 16, but for the rest of my life I'm associating this song with the last two weeks of May 2011. I don't know why, I've always liked the song, but it's just giving me the vibe I had for those couple weeks. Especially the first line of the song...
