i was there and i can tell you why...the front row tickets (or VIP as they decided to call them)were twice the price of the normal ones. so you you can imagine it was expensive for young people to get there. i was just behind the iron fence, next to the sound guys and the crowd was having a blast, while the VIP personas were mainly drinking beer and talking to each other.

I love Steve Perry from the bottom of my heart. His voice is something beautiful and special and that will never change.

Journey were going nowhere until Arnel. He has revitalised this band.

I also want to say that most of these Germans are there to see Neal, Jonathan and Steve because they all were EXTREMELY popular in Europe and German as the band - BAD ENGLISH. So, they are there to see these guys again, but only as Journey, so they are also getting used to it, but nonetheless, they are fans, too. And, trust me...if a German was bored, he/she would leave...probably hit a bar and get some good beer.

By the way, DOGEARS...these guys in the audience that you mention listening...that's exactly what they are doing...but...over 80% don't speak ENGLISH...they are Germans. Most come to listen and SEE, so they can say that they have SEEN a famous American band. I've been to several concerts in Europe and it does not matter to them about being a fan, they will go see something that is a NEW rage in America as is now with the New Journey and Arnel. They are just watching...not bored.

I agree with nheng & duhl. It's got me listening to the guys again. I am a dye hard fan also.Been 1 since 1978 or so ... love the music and loved Perry also. "The Voice"!!

This song want sell tho. Maybe it was the live outdoor sound or it just never got going. I haven't heard any new songs that sounded great. Don't rush it guys cause you have a good thing going again. Watch the crowd, they seem to be bored. Hang in there tho.

I have no idea what was wrong with the crowd that day. They sure weren't bored, but also not going crazy. Maybe the pouring rain that day had something to do with it, or maybe it's just the calm nature of the Dutch. The guys i went to the concert with (all musicians) went absolutely wild during the journey concert though! (and ofcourse also during whitesnake, REO speedwagon, KISS, and so on...)

It's not that the audience are calm or bored, they're just too old to jump as high as AP still does. It's just not that easy anymore standing there for hours when you already have rheumatism.

@rondutch23 I saw journey at 2008 and 2005 or 2006 in lichtervoorde and there everyone was going crazy, and it was far better then 2008. They were amazing, but the sound was a bit more crappy, and the sound is the most important! That makes me feel the adrealine xD

i'm not taking anything against perry who WAS the man in his generation but personally, rock is forever evolving and you guys need to realize and adapt to the fact that us younger generations prefer arnel to sing those OLD SONGS!!!
