  • Did you have any PTV issues?

  • So these are dohc right

  • @furiousaaron No SOHC

  • It's not the motor that's keeping you from 300 rwhp, it's your automatic transmission.

  • @jakashh I wish it was an auto, it has the Tremec T-5 since it is an early '01.

  • @khunnicut

oh damn! I didn't know they were that restrictive!

  • @jakashh Its just a tired bottom end, its over 130k miles and I pull my boat doing 70+ all summer long. With premium up to $4.00 a gallon now most of my fun money is going into the bike so the car is on the back burner until I find a stang with an auto and hasn't been totaled twice for a price I can't pass up. If I end up with one in better condition I will build out the spare motor and see if we can't catch up with these new 5.0 mustangs!

  • @khunnicut no it has a T45 in it, T5 is a pushrod trans, they changed to the 3650 in late '00/early '01 build dates

  • @motohorse87 Your right it is the Tremec T-45, I must have mistyped. Good catch

  • @jakashh its not the heads or the tranni. For him to make that much hp on a mod motor without swapping to after market heads is actually reasonable if not good numbers..

@khunnicut The 5.4 head and the 4.6 heads are all the same. They are all P.I. heads. That is a amazing car though. I had the same cams and LOVED them. I never had the chance to tune them before my car it was taken away from me...I plan on doing it all over again ( only better) I could really feel it pulling after 3500..

  • @gutz1988 If I ever get around to doing the bottom end I plan on 10.5:1 compression and bearings that can take over 7k rmp without worry. These motors get nasty if you can wind them up high, the cams are definatly built for higher rpm but on my worn out motor I rarely see much over 6k unless I have to show a Camaro (not the new ones) whats up.

  • sounds wicked. you just mad eup my mind of which cams to use. thank you

  • Sounds Good.............

  • sound nice

    big diffrent with the cams?

  • @al3id Lots of top-end, kind of a pain idling with the A/C on, probably just the tune I have because the guy insisted it idle low instead of the 900 where I would like it to be.

  • @al3id Sorry didn't see the post, I did most of the mods all at once but I believe most of the power is from the cams, they are a higher rmp cam so I would defiantly recommend them if your bottom end can wind high.
