  • i miss bill gates

  • Chrome's core came from Apple's Safari, which in turn came from KHTML on Linux. Without those Linux developers, Apple, nor Google, nor RIM, nor every mobile under the sun, would have ever had any browser code to use at all.

The initial KHTML developers deserver a nobel prize.

As for Microsoft... huh? who? Are they still relevant?

  • Google is a cool company. Microsoft, however, is not.

  • @a1mint Well spoken.

  • @a1mint Well, if Microsoft didn't exist, there would be no Windows, would there?

  • @Netscape128 There would be the Mac, a windows like, but better, OS. Xerox had a mouse based OS as well. Plus Unix with X11 graphical desktop. Windows, one of many.

  • its funny because both IE and chrome are shit.

  • I liked the part where he sayed Gewgle :D

  • Google Chrome destroys IE. Microsoft is trying real hard doing what they do best. That is to copy Chrome with IE9.

  • google isnt imba...

Google Chrome is the same bad browser as IE, so ?

    Google need developers too...

  • he is jellius of Google killing the Internet Explorer

    theyr afraid of Google

  • Look at those mice! They're asleep. They're disappointed. They're saying, "Where is that fatneck William with our branches?"

  • what a clown!

  • @Egide0 Google is a good company, Microsort too, fucktard, Google isn`t gonna kill Steve Balmer, Are you crazy? Lol.

  • @Bayonetta4 I don't know who Al Bundy is, but this guy, definitely. He laughed at the iPhone.

  • Windows sucks.

  • becali!

  • Why can't google stop using the word "Chrome"? What's next for Chrome web browser and Chrome OS? iChrome? Chromintosh? Chrome 7?

  • developers! developers! developers! developers!

  • Google and Microsoft will always be around. They are Yin & Yang.

  • @Wenxiao8833 you give them too much credit...plus, they're not so radically polarized in either end of the spectrum

  • Google is taking over the world! I love Windows but I also love Google! So who will win..?

  • gugleguglegule?

  • Chrome OS only freezed all the time ...

  • That depends... Chrome OS runs smoothly on my laptop, but it doesn't support my wifi :-(.

  • Steve doesn't like Google because Steve sees Google as a real threat.

Google has won a contract this past Dec to provide the City of Los Angeles' 34,000 employees a platform to use Gmail, Google Docs and other Google Apps for their messaging and collaboration needs. It's a three-year cloud computing contract, valued at $7.25 million and is saving the city millions on server maintenance.

Google has just pissed in Steves' Wheaties. lol

  • There goes he's talk about google being so bad while bing is the crappiest search engine i've ever seen.

  • It's only funny because he's rich.

  • lol. Google is growing!

We are searching for a developer.

  • how many do you need? a FIVEHUNDRED?? a THOUSAND!!?

    DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS!!

  • @SteveBallmerMS EVEN MORE?!?!?111?'

  • I LIKE GOOGLE BUT THAT WAS FUNNY XD

  • i hate that guy, silly fuck

  • What the fuck is the big deal of a CEO saying the name of a competitor? You fucking retard nerds.

  • Say all you want, but google is going to kill you.

  • @Egide0 I really really really want to see, what Steve Ballmer will do, if Google win. And I hope someone is around at that moment with a video camera or a phone, so it can be recorded and put on Youtube. He is well known for loosing his temper and throwing things around in anger and threatening people, and he HATES Google.

Which makes me love Google even more ;)

  • @ytvoice1

    if google wins at what?

  • @CornishRicky Is it a secret that both MS and Google want to be the emperor of the world?

I do not like the idea of one company to rule the world, but Google votes for Open Source which is for everyone to gain from, while MS is solely for themselves. They do not care shit about others, and they are quite familiar with breaking the law.

Steve Balmer hates Google, because he has not found a way yet to crush them (like with Netscape). I do not like that man, nor the company.

  • @ytvoice1 The browser might be open source, but google isnt. For example you dont know whats going on behind the surface. wether they make a file listing all the politically incorrect comments you ever made on youtube and send it to the future communist government so they can pick put you in a concentration camp.

And for sure you know that gmails terms of use dont rule out that your emails are never ever ever going to be deleted.

  • @Psyho84 Isn't that the same problem with Facebook?

  • @CornishRicky Google COULD be a threat to MS on the OS market. I wonder what will happen, if people get to know there are quite good alernatives to Windows.

I do not want MS to loose completely, just not having 99.99% market share of the PC OS. Maybe 40% would be better. MS are not good when they are controlling. They have to be controlled very hard.

Look what happened, when they won over Netscape. They completely stopped anyone from any innovation in webdesign because of IE6.

  • @ytvoice1 It is not because of Microsoft that we have CSS3 and HTML5. They didn't like the idea at all from the beginning, and they worked to make it fail in any way they could. Luckily they did not succeed.

And those standars are thanks to Google, Apple and Mozilla. They want to innovate, not MS.

  • yeah yeah yeah

  • That's mature steve. Real mature. You watching this microsoft shareholders?

  • Comment removed

  • Steve definetely likes to repeat repeat repeat words...

  • After doing hard time in Linux, I can truly say this, VISTA FTW!!!

  • It was exactly the opposite for me. I bought and installed Vista when it first came out and was quite disappointed, so about a month later I gave GNU/Linux a try and haven't looked back since.

To each his (or her) own, I suppose!

    Cheers.

  • I was disappointed with Vista since they named it Vista and since they cancelled Longhorn.

BTW what distro of Linux do you use?

  • They didn't "cancel" longhorn. It's just a codename, like Windows XP was codenaped "Whistler". Noone should have expected "longhorn" to keep it's name.

  • Sorry I wasn't clear on that one. They cancelled the original Longhorn project due to several "issues" they found. Then they ordered a reset and had to restart from Windows Server 2003. In doing so, several features were lost. So now we have Vista.

Same deal for Windows 7 (originally codename "Blackcomb", then "Vienna")

Windows 7 was going to originally have a slimmed down kernel (and was actually going to be Windows NT 7.0), but they decided to keep all that bloat.

  • Man Windows is an 100 year old house. Except that its almost 30 years old (lets say :D) and it has many renovations done to it. One day someone will realise that all the renovations done are not designed efficiently and will realise that the cost to renovate will outweigh the cost to build a new house.. so he knocks down the old house and builds a new house.

  • ubuntu jaunty.. I would kiss a bums feet if it would save me from going back to that awful disgrace that windows 7 is.

  • wtf man.. Linux is like adding sugar to coffee.. even if you add too much, you still enjoy it.. I have devoted my time to linux for about 2 weeks to know the nitty-gritty.. i am not 6 months away from that and I absolutely am not going back to Windows.. I can't believe how awesome linux is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's my saviour.. if it werent for linux, I would have lost a major contract and in turn, would have lost my house.. no bullshit. Thank you all that contribute to Ubuntu.. THANK YOU!!!!

  • Many people like their coffee without sugar you know.. And please don't comment spam.

  • I have my coffee without sugar? I like to taste the coffee not the sweetness of the sugar. But anyway...

  • Bullshit. All you Windows fanboys jumping in on every fucking video with a derogatory comment on Apple's platforms, then if a Mac user retaliates it's... it's like pushing someone down, then laughing to your friends when he gets up and kicks your arse.

Anyway... Windows Vista can go die in a fire. No Windows release since 95 has ever had the upper hand over the Apple integrated hardware and software platform. It's common knowledge a mixed bag will achieve mixed results. Same goes for computers.

  • arsehole

  • But Microsoft still has great succes. As long as they can excist they must be doing something the right way.

  • I allways taught people to make a list of demands then based on those demands purchase a system and software to work with. I don't work with windows or mac i do word processing and photo editing and whatever gets my work done. And any and all fanboys droning on about their own systems are idiots when it comes down to buying a system based on their personal demands. Your demands might not be mine. And fancy interfaces like ubuntu beryl or vista aero don't get my work done.

  • its funny because Beryl is exactly what has saved my productivity. Beryl wasnt designed to just be eye candy. It is an accessibility tool, a external helper for applications, a window manager in itself and also a slice of nice intuitive entertainment whilst working. The problem with linux and uptake is the fact that people dont understand it. And i think linux developers want to keep it this way so elite linux users use linux, not some complaining n00bs.

  • So what is it that you demand of a system?? You say "productivity". Then how is it that linux gave you that?? Intuitivity you say. What are your demands of a system? You've got a software company? You do administration? You use computers for CAD/CAM? You render?

Based on demands one buys/installs an operating system. Based on the dollar! There are no fanboys in the industry.

  • I am a system administrator. And thus i've worked with almost any OS. Do i have favorites??? No..... It all comes down to what job you need done. Or else go buy a playstation.

  • Mostly everything = Windows

Extra stable media focused = Apple OSX

    Servers = Linux/Unix

That's how I see, each has it's own pros and cons.

  • i agree, but i think XP is the way to go.

    JUST MY OPINION

  • Windows 2000

  • Sorry that's "Why upgrade whenever MS wants you to? Keep Windows 2000, or in my case Windows NT Workstation"

  • AgentCROCODILE: I'm totally with you. I don't understand the constant need people have to upgrade their operating systems. An operating system should be 100% invisible, and lose itself in the installed apps.

However... thanks to Apple, and their propaganda machine, people think they need an OS upgrade every year.

Microsoft did EXACTLY what it should have done by keeping XP for six years.

An operating system that needs yearly overhauls ISN'T a good OS, regardless of what Justin Long says.

  • I'm 100% with you too.

It's amazing that despite the major platform changes, Apple still keeps the 10.X thing. Shouldn't they switch to 11.x already?! I mean, Microsoft is doing the sensible thing by going from Windows NT 5.X to Windows NT 6.0 (the internal version numbers)

Because of all this upgrade nonsense, I am building my own operating system (for IA-64)

That way I can "upgrade" whenever I want to whatever I want.

  • I also don't like them introducing stupid new "user interfaces" into every single application AND forcing users to use it. Ribbon is a stupid screen-hogging interface.

And in Windows 7, it will appear in Notepad, Paint, Wordpad, etc and other utilities!

I'm sure glad they offer "downgrade rights"!

  • "And in Windows 7, it will appear in Notepad, Paint, Wordpad, etc and other utilities!"

That actually is a problem. I (honestly) use notepad for all my word processing needs, because I don't care about font sizes/types, and I know how to spell.

If notepad stops being a barebones program, where all it does is type what I tell it to type, I'll be upset.

For the record... I love the idea of Linux, but this is a communal computer, and I can't teach everyone how to use it.

  • Have you tried Notepad++? It is easy to edit multiple files at a time in it.

Also, we can hope that ReactOS gets its way soon!

  • Actually its not in Notepad. Its only in wordpad which is a separate program.

  • WHATEVER IT IS.

  • Oh yes, and the OS shouldn't have a WEB BROWSER tightly integrated in it in a way that:

    1. viruses, intruders, spyware, trojans, adware can get in without your knowledge, even if you don't use the browser.

    2. you cannot remove that insecure lump of pus from the OS.

  • hey, thats very sensible. I was swept up by Apple's bullshit, and its only now I realize that you guys are absoflippinlutely right!

I've been using the same XP for nearly 3 years, but I did get a Vista laptop... it sucks balls, really. Like you said, OSs should be 100% invisible, and whenever I use vista, I am VERY, VERY aware that I am using Vista :P

  • Well said salvo711.

Do you ever get the feeling that Mac users just spend hours at a time playing with their operating systems?

  • Hey, that's unfair. Most people I know in the web development business work on Macs because of Textmate, Transit, and all the other software that runs only on OS X. The same applies to audio editing, graphic design, scientific research... Everyone complains about how poor application support Macs have, but for a lot of fields nothing else will do it. Same goes for Linux. When you're hosting, you want LAMP. This combined with how much stabler *nix is makes me wonder why anyone uses Windows.

  • Cheesemonger said: "makes me wonder why anyone uses Windows."

No. What you mean is "makes me wonder why anyone IN THE PROFESSIONAL field uses Windows."

Regular people still want a simple operating system (i.e. not Linux), and they want it to be affordable (i.e. not Mac).

  • Eh, fair enough. Hopefully Ubuntu Jaunty will solve that once and for all.

  • Cheesesemonger: "Hopefully Ubuntu Jaunty will solve that once and for all."

I'd be the first to scream the qualities of Linux from the rooftops if it could just get anywhere near the ease of use that Windows has.

  • Oh so I guess Adobe Creative suite isn't available on windows :-P. Scientific research is almost completely PC based as is engineering. Its ok to like macs, but its not ok to make up stuff to convince others to join.

  • Source?

  • Engineering software standard are almost always an Autodesk software which does not develop or Mac OS X and favors Quadro cards which only one mac currently has.

  • Did I mention engineering?

  • @cheeesemonger by *nix do you mean unix and linux?

  • I agree Ballmer sucks. I want to see how crap the next Windows is now he has creative control of Microsoft.

  • It's already looking quite a disappointment. You know the ribbon interface in Office 2007. Microsoft is now introducing it into Notepad, Paint, WordPad, and now other popular Windows utilities!

  • Steve Ballmer sucks

  • Google Google Google *eyes pop out*
