I think Annette sounds great on the songs that Annette recorded with the band, but those originally recorded with Tarja are only fitting with Tarja on vocals... Those are big shoes to fill, and all things considered, she does a fine job. Face it, those old songs will never sound the same unless you pop in a CD. That being said, these bullshit squabbles are nauseating. They are both very different, and both great singers. I'm not ashamed to say that I still like Nightwish.
To my mind Anette doesn't match Nightwish old songs by Tarja. Old Nightwish was like "an outstanding opera singer with a regular rock band". New Nightwish is like a "regular rock band with a regular singer". Its a matter of style and passion. Anette is good, and i somehow like her singing, but not in Nightwish. Its like putting an engine from Skyline r32 in Mustang '68. I really want Anette to sing in our band (lol), but she totally fails to meet the original Nightwish ideology, style and magic.

I have to admit that at first had my doubts about the new singer....but upon a closer examination...I love how genuine she seems...something Tarja she as her popularity grew.
I think there are some classic songs that are made for Tarja and Anette should never sing, like Wishmaster or Kinslayer, for example. But I think there are some classic songs that I think Tuomas composed with an Anette-style singer in his mind, like Dark Chest of Wonders or Ever Dream. Tarja was good, but Anette is also good. If you can't stick by Tuomas's decision, then you're not really a Nightwish fan, as Tuomas IS Nightwish. He could replace all the members if he wanted.

I think that song shows more than any other from DPP how good she can be. as far as live goes, she looks like all she needed was a confidence boost from the fans. she has had that and is absolutely sensational now

I wish that Anette fans understand a simple thing: nobody cries after Tarja to come back, it's not about that.

If he likes Anette's voice, then I like Anette's voice. Nightwish goes on without Tarja, and you need to accept that fact. If you can't, you are not a Nightwish fan.

- For "new Nightwish": 15-17 years old, american. Confuses "gothic metal" with "power pop". Also listens: Evanescence, Bruno Mars... MTV and radio in general.
- For Tarja: Predominant europeans. 2 categories of age. One is 18-30 and the other is 40+.
Tarja's fans also love classical. From metal they listen Therion, Pantera and the like.
