  • The issue is a difficult one... How do we know that the pictures were consensual? Do we know someones not making them take the pictures? How are you supposed to separate child porn from sexting for teens when its found by police? Is it alright for them to view child porn? If an underage teenager makes their own porn, how do you deal with the situation? Would it be alright for others to own it since both parties are doing it consensually? It's just such a clusterf*** of problems.

  • PAT THAT LEG, AGAIN, AND AGAIN.

  • What is the legal age to have sex in America and do people honour this? In Aussie it's 16 but teenagers don't care about that law

  • for such great video content, crackle has the worst, most slow and unnavoidable adverts

  • You know, there's no doubt in my mind that some of those kids are sending these to twenty-somethings... a lot of my friends at that age, especially at 16-17, were dating twenty-somethings, and we didn't see anything wrong with it. It's just years later, one day it hits you - "yeah, that was kind of fucked up."

"Nineteen"? I don't think it's illegal if you're eighteen... provided it's your rope.

  • I think the laws shouldn't be punishing them, but instead protecting them.

  • Society has taken the fig leaf too far. Laws against nudity are "Draconian" at best. I'm not a nudist, or against clothing, but society is fucking out there...

Thanks for your opinion Penn, I appreciate that you give a fuck and I am with you, on this.

Ruining kids LIVES is not the way to address societies methods of communication with free persons. The inconsistencies in "our" legal system are amazing, not that I have any suggestions to improve it(I don't really want to tell people what to do).

  • if a teen ends up being a registered sex offender because they sexted, they should reclaim their freedom by moving out of the country.

  • Everyone if you are sad because pennsays has discontinued, and if u havent found out he has a new show on youtube called pennpoint then look it up its pretty much the same thing he is just working with different people and has a different name for his show

  • They basically want to make this illegal:

    0m9 j00 4r3 50 H07!

  • Thank you Penn!! You are a boss!

  • bull sh*t sexting is rong, the law is a good one! sex is be for marage is rong, if they camit the crime then they need to be punished, puls the law is just to protect them, the prvs would be all over them if they saw them nude. over view, ( good law, sex b4 marag is ronu, punnish the sexting teens.) ( like if you love god :) )

  • @treygon11 what happened to freedom? this is a law against freedoms. its also a law to do parents job for them. where the fuck are the parents? if their kids are doing this shit take away the damn phone. or if your one of those people where you think you cant live without a cell phone these days then get a phone for your kid that doesnt take pictures or anything like that.

  • @treygon11 Sorry if I find it hard to take a Jesus freak who can't spell seriously. You're a troll, go crawl into a hole.

  • this guy is so smart

  • A girl at my school KILLED HERSELF because nude pictures of herself were shared by her then ex-boyfriend. (I am not making this up.) No, it shouldn't be illegal, but it is still a phenomenon that can ruin lives. The pictures almost always get out, and when they do there are serious consequences. Parents, you should TALK TO YOUR KIDS about the consequences of this. Teens should at least know the facts before they start sending nude pics. As with premarital sex, knowledge is power.

  • 15? you slut!

  • Hi Penn fans. Penn Says videos have been discontinued, so you won't be seeing any new content on here. You can check out our Profile on our Channel Page for more info. We'll still be checking in, so hope to keep chatting with you all! Thanks!

  • @pennsays You rock.

  • Penn i just think people are not open about nudism! I dont see whats wrong with sexting either.

  • Penn is a brilliant guy. He knows what he talks about and likes doing it. Long time Bullshit fan. Cant wait for Season 8 of P&T: BS.

  • Great, merciful Mammaris, man...you're brilliant, what can I say?

Long-time Bullshit fan (and P&T fan in general),

    -- RavynousHunter (aka Hagunemnon)

  • "Pissing up a rope and taking pictures of it... ...very illegal." XD Lulz That made me laugh really hard. Thank you Penn, for making my day.

  • I'm definitely against censorship of anything, however, I do see how some decisions made as a young adult, or even child, could impact the rest of the child's life. It's scary that these children can be put on one of the worst lists that you could be on, sex offender list.

  • I agree mostly...but I guess the difference between sexting and making out or doing it is that sexting creates an electronic record that has a chance of getting to pedophiles, and into the wrong hands, etc. Making out and such is something between the 2 people and unless there's a peeping Tom, it won't manifest in any way except verbally.

  • I don't see why it's such a big deal up

  • WOW!!! PENN!!!! Look I support you about 75%-80% of the time(I don't know exactly). But most of the time but did you just say " I just think that the fact that young people sending nude pictures to each other is nothing but a good thing." WTF!!!! Okay the Law is pretty darn Bad I agree with you on that. BUT sending nude pictures to each other is NOT!!! a good thing.

You either have low morals or you're a sex addict.

  • @09tranm

Says a person who has, I'm sure, NEVER looked at porn. Mmmhm.

  • @shuttervox WTF!!!!! Read my comment again. I never said that I've never looked at porn. I just said that sexting isn't a good thing. And I never been sexting because 1 I don't even know how to send pictures on my cell phone. 2 I don't even have text messaging abilities I didn't pay for it. By the way I'm 19 so I am old enough to watch porn for your information.

  • @shuttervox Also I said that the law was pretty bad. But I said that sending nude pictures to each other is definately not a good thing even though it should NOT be illegal( e.g. Vanessa Hudgens). My point was just because somethings wrong doesn't mean it should be illegal. AND just because something should be legalized doesn't mean it's right. Next time read my comment more closely.

  • @shuttervox There's just one more thing I need to say(and yes I tend to comment alot because it's a free country and I'm very opinionated). But the reason why I think that sexting is NOT a good thing like Penn says is because if you send a nude picture to someone then they could easily send it to all their friends and you'd definately regret it(unless if you want to be a stripper or something). Just like Vanessa Hudgens(it's a good thing she wasn't underage so she wasn't charged).

  • Hey Penn... could I have your daughters cell phone number.... that's sarcasm by the way.

  • @jeromemayle99 While sarcasm is always appreciated . . . I doubt she owns a cell phone as she's 4 and a half.

  • @pennsays Is it wrong that this comment made me laugh a little and the response just made me lose control laughing.

  • I think smart people know who they are sexting. Don't give cell phones to retards, problem solved.

  • don't get me started on "vermont" omg. this is a state so stupid that they made it a state law making it illegal to whistle while under water. now think about that for five minutes and try not to lower your IQ during the thinking process.

  • I agree with penn on this one

  • 2:33 stfu why you bullshiting cuh

  • Honestly, if one half of our society didn't constantly battle with the other half of our society about sex, the world would be a better place.

It's all a matter of who gives in first.

  • Sexting, definitely an adult activity. "Cause everybody had them", so then if enough ppl are doing something it could be deemed as okay? I'd hate to think of some pedophile getting a hold of my son.

  • the problem is that once the picture is out there it never goes away and anyone, including pornographers and pedophiles , would have access to it. Would you want some perv jerking off to a picture of your kid?

  • @ ickybird - I'd rather have some perv jerking off to a picture of a kid in the privacy of his own home, than going outside looking for actual kids so he could take his own pictures.

  • the main problem is they're putting them on the web were everyone has accesses and child pornographers are good at using technology ( on the other hand some teenagers are probably are using this instead of sex which at least you can't get stds or pregnant)

  • @cdh98 Are you sure the computer can't give me STDs . . . ? :-)

  • Cybersex is dangerous. You might catch a computer virus. :-p

  • "social stigma" excellent term

  • I jacked off to this video. Who can I send it to? Give me your cell number.

  • DUDE you sound like the guy from Pineapple express XD im sorry for that but shit i just noticed that.

  • I agree Penn, the laws against sexting are dumb.

  • Child porn laws can cause unintended consquences, because, as pointed out, they are not about stopping kids from having sex. Hell, they are trying to force sex ed, like a teenager is actually going to correctly use birth control all the time, rofl. Child porn laws mostly come down to jealously, older people can't compete with younger people in that arena, so they kick them out of the 'attention competition', you could call it.

  • i would be amazed if they didnt do it i know that when i was young i am 54 if we would have had the way to do it we would have

  • lol love it when he first said "semi-nude"

  • Anyone distributing nude images to a minor has broken the law. Should a 14 year old minor be treated as a sex offender for this? Of course not. Should the 14 year old teen who raped an 8 year old girl be treated as a sex offender? Of course they should. Common sense people.

  • I also don't see a problem with an adult receiving the pics. Just as long as no intercourse takes place, it's all gravy.

It's like punishing a gun owner with murderer just because he or she owns a weapon, or giving a student detention because he or she buys gum at a super market but never takes it to school.

  • Good point. It does make it less likely for intercoarse to take place.Parents should watch their children though. Laws against it is much.

  • If it's OK for underage kids to send nude pictures of themselves on their phones then does that mean it's OK for adults to receive these pictures?

  • you just missed the entire point he was trying to make...

  • if the adults don't know that the person sending the pictures is underage... yes(they shouldn't be punished). if the person receiving the picture has no intention of receiving the picture and doesn't ask for it... yes(they shouldn't be punished) if the adult is requesting nude pictures... probably not, but the laws should probably be less ridiculous, and the point of the video is that children certainly shouldn't be punished for it.

  • ..."we could have, but we didn't, and it was fun"...

    well said

  • Agreed. Who cares? It's great.

  • The best ranger commercials are lame, but when I look at the website name I see 'be stranger' I'd like to see a parody on that

  • If you give something the tools necessary to satisfy their urges they will use it. If you give a hungry monkey a can opener and some canned fruit cocktail they will eventually use the tool to get the food inside. If you give a horny teenager a cell phone they will eventually use this tool to obtain nude pics. Who is really at fault for providing the tools? It isn't the monkey or the kids, dumb-asses!!!

  • >implying there's anything wrong with them having the tools

  • Did I imply that?

  • well yeah, your whole comment insinuated that the solution to the problem is to not allow them to have access to it. and if not, then simply saying people shouldn't have any right to complain when people do what it is in their nature to do, when given the tools to do so, is a poor argument. it's "part of our nature" to rape, kill, etc., that doesn't mean everyone is going to do it if given the chance, and it doesn't mean we shouldn't be given the freedom to(access to guns, etc.)

  • Wow, you're so smart that you knew I was insinuating all that bullshit? NO. To be honest, I was merely stating that (in a roundabout way, I will admit) it is human nature. It is ridiculous that it would come as a shock to anybody that people would use their cellphones for this purpose, I am sick of seeing soccer moms looking all wide-eyed and angelic like: "I had NO idea! Somebody should put a law in place for the sake of my children!". Why? So you don't have to be a responsible parent?

  • wow, you're so smart that you don't understand the implications of what you were saying, and even after having it pointed out to you, you still proceed with the same smarmy arrogant rhetoric. re-read my comment, and try to comprehend how it points out that nothing you've stated addresses the root of the problem, and doesn't merit inserting "dumbasses" at the end of it. okay, so replace one kind of control for another. very insightful.

  • You obviously don't understand the implications of what I was saying. I was not trying to address the root or solution to any so-called problem, so why do you assume that I was? Before you start labeling me a "smarmy arrogant rhetoric" person who (for some reason, you seem to believe) is against personal freedom, you ought to re-read your own comments. Keep your opinion about me, I'm done trying to explain this ill-worded comment I posted months ago. Apparently you just don't get it.

  • yeah, that must be it, i just don't get it.

if you read my comments, you would know that i wasn't saying you were against personal freedom, but that if you weren't, your comments would serve no practicality..

  • I agree

  • Gah, I'm tired of these "best ranger" commercials...

  • i freaking love this guy

    ahahaha

  • Here, here Fidellio13.

  • In the age of sexual transmitted diseases, they should happy that kids are experimenting, long distance. it is certainly safe. these laws are traps for kids!

  • "I knew I should have shown him 'Electric Gonorrhea : The Noisy Killer'"

  • Pedophiles are only interested in pre-pubescent children.

As far as I am concerned, a person that has hit puberty is no longer a child, but a young adult. They are ready and programmed for sexual reproduction.

It makes absolutely no sense to make consensual images of a person's body or the beautiful act and pleasure of sex to be illegal.

Western puritan culture insists on demonizing things that are beautiful, natural, and harm no one.

  • Corrupted?

Corrupted how? Consentual, beautiful, teenage sex between people who love each other? If that's corruption, then i'm HAPPY to be corrupt.

  • hit in on the head!but theres a grey area on the age cuz puberty hits very young some times and no one thinks 12 yr old are ok...15,16,17 is fine,i dont think they are victims or children...

  • It's important for parents to have good communication with their children. Because society and bad parents are putting dogma into children that sex is bad and nudity is indecent, they fear it and are uncomfortable with it.

If they talk to their kids about sexual responsibility, they can make better choices if they choose to be sexually active. As long as they want to, I believe it is their right to have safe sex or post nude photos of themselves.

Kids listen to their parents so teach them well

  • @RandomAccessMemories I agree fully bro. A 16 year old girl for instance is a woman, not a child. Lay people who don't know the definitions of words seem to like to put everyone whi s under 18 under the "child" label, when in fact someone over the age of puberty is physically and mentally an adult. Yeah you don't see 4 year old or 8 year olds sending these sexting pics because most pre-pubescents are not in that world......but 15 or 16 year olds are far different.

  • It is not the law's duty to tell someone what they can and can not do with their own body no matter how ignorant they may be.

Sex is natural. We want it, we need it. It is a parents job to tell their children about the responsibilities of sex. They would rather be lazy and have the government do it for them.

If a person has hit puberty, it is their right to be sexual. It's bullshit that the government gets into two consenting people's business when they harm no one.

  • i agree with you penn

  • Libertarianism rules!

  • It should be like indecent exposure not CHILD PORNOGRAPHY! jesus the law is just fucked up! you could flash your dick on the street and not be a counted as a sexual predetor but if ur girlfriend takes a picture of her rack and sends it to you, Write this perv up!

  • That's a step in the right direction, although there shouldn't even be indecent exposure. It's horrible that the government can decide what is "decent."

  • Wow. Penn -- when did they stick my brain into your head? And when are you going to run for senator or president or king of the world or something? We need sane people like you in power like RIGHT NOW...

  • So-called "adults" really need to pull their heads out of their asses...

  • It would be nice if all world governments would abandon their most ridiculous laws; about 99% of laws in other words. And a perpetual motion machine would be nice too.

  • I think it's going a little too far to say it's "a good thing." Pictures can be misused and reproduced, and most 15 year-olds can't be expected to recognize the danger of this.

To call it "child pornography" is ridiculous, though, and it threatens to damage lives in exactly the way that the law should seek to prevent.

  • this is one where i have to disagree with you Penn.

  • How come no one has ever brought up the fact that the survey in question adds 18 and 19 year olds to the list? Last I checked, it was legal to fuck a 18 or 19 year old. Is this survey just trying to pad its results to come to what might be a predetermined conclusion?

  • It depends on the state, but in general you are correct.

  • 18 and 19 are fair game in any state, and 16 and 17 are in most of them.

  • Agreed. Bi as well! *high fives*

  • Lol ok then. I think a lot of teenagers nowadays are pretty stupid when it comes to sex life myself. A good number of these teenage romantic relationships are what I would like to call "posing". Along with all these teenage pregnancies.

But in the end, it's still fucking stupid to get charged for child pornography for sending a nude picture of yourself, especially when it's consensual.

  • Are you implying that pedophiles jerking off to child porn is a bad thing? Because that's about as dangerous as a serial killer playing a violent video game. The pedophile isn't actually screwing a kid, which would mentally scar them. What harm are you going to do simply VIEWING child porn?

  • Well, I admit that sending people naked pictures of yourself is a stupid thing to do, but charging people who do it with sex-offense charges is even stupider. How do we learn from doing stupid things? The natural consequences. I touched the stove, I burned my hand, I don't touch the stove anymore. Not, I touch the stove and now I'm facing charges for it. What the hell could that solve?

  • I didn't have sex until I was 19 thank you very much...

not like I wouldn't have done it earlier if given half the chance :D

  • So the argument keeps coming back that this type of action would attract pedophiles. To

bumpyjjeans point, perverts will basically always be perverts. So, taking them out of the equation, is anyone concerned about sexting from the privacy standpoint? Unfortunately it seems to be another question of who you can trust with what is most personal.

  • Pædophiles looking at the pictures is a moot point since they want _"*PRETEENS.*"_

  • Old fat guys who dye their hair talking about teens having sex is disturbing. Teens will always have sex. Old fat guys will always be old and fat and disgusting.

  • Please do keep in mind, pedophiles are attracted pre-pubescent children.

So pedophiles would by definition not be attracted to these pictures.

  • I agree with Penn BUT only on a general basis. No there is nothing wrong with it. BUT kids are very immature and tif something happens in these relationships they are vulnerable to being explioted by the receivers of the photos. I mean they could show these pics to others and put them on the internet but morally yeah it's fine...

And I love my state baby because marijuana is SO decriminilized JUST LIKE CANADA in massachusetts.

  • i think sex is a natural human right, i'm 15 also, and that law is insane, you shouldn't be put on a sex offenders list just because you had some fun when you were a teenager.

  • I was definitely waiting for a reference to the legalization of pot. Similar issue, if enough people are doing it, you can't continue to jail or charge people for it. It's a lost cause. Though, hopefully one day, we see the legalization of marijuana, and realize that the reasons it is illegal are all lies made up by the government.

  • I'm from Vermont. Boo ya

  • It's bloody stupid. I was having sex at 15 as well. Sure the age of consent is there for a reason. But one thing that bothers me is at 17 myself and my girlfriend taped ourselves having sex. It was cool... the thing is, at 16 you can have sex (uk, canada, australia, the rest of the free world except usa), but you cant watch or be in porn until you're 18. That means if I had sex with my girlfriend I was fine, but watching us having sex on film was illegal. That's just stupid.

  • yea man america is/has always been retarded if u haven't noticed.

  • Whether one agrees or disagrees with the morality of sexting, isn't this an issue for parents to deal with? Do we need the damn govt poking it's nose into every area of our lives and our childrens lives?

  • Thing is, technology that enables kids to do stuff like this has been around a while. I have a couple of books by John Holt on my shelves, "The way it's Spozed to Be" and "How To Survive in Your Native Land" I mention them both only because I can't remember which has the chapter about kids in his class taking nude pictures of themselves in the photo booth at the local mall. This was the late 70's or so.

  • Correction: (and I know how you feel about these, Penn, and you could be right this time.) I looked at my shelves and found the book, "How to Survive in your Native Land" by Michael Hearndon, (who also wrote the other book I mentioned,) Chapter 4, Creative Arts. pub date 1971 Simon and Schuster sbn 671-20864-0 library of congress catalog number 70-151495

  • I send pictures of my poop. I find poop absurdly funny. I don't care about nude pics, I just like poop. Big shits, little shits, blood in your crap... I just laugh every time. I don't care about nude pics, I only like poop. I guess I may become a scatoffender.

  • I have discovered that I enjoy hearing the viewpoints of Pen Jillette, even if I disagree with his philosophy. I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree with his thought on sexting. For instance, I agree that teens shouldn't get the sex offender tag if they participate in it. But I disagree that it is like making out, since a lot of the time, albeit not all the time though, making out doesn't involve private parts. As for the act of sexting itself, I don't think it's a cool thing to do.

  • I will decide for you if your picture is dangerous or not. Send it to me at 503-474-8571.

    No jokes, serious requests only.

  • Nice. I laughed for a good minute when I read this.

  • Somebody give this guy a real job!!!

  • he dosent need a "real job" seems to me he's doing just fine

  • please sext me a pic!! 301-492-3019!!

  • anyone any age should be able to have sex in my opinion if they want to. its natural and its what we did a long time ago.

    make it legal.

  • Lol i send a pic to my gf, and she sends one back... I'm a sex offender? They hand out bags with bags of condoms in school, but pictures are bad? What do they think we're gonna do with the condoms?

  • Throw them away and practice abstinence. Jesus loves you.

  • If jesus loved me why did he give me sickle cell?

  • sorry friend, was only being sarcastic.

  • whos supporting these laws? ill betcha its alotta the relig groups, euphemisticly called family groups/activists. they see sex as bad. simply enuf. your children are sexual beings parents, thats the way it is

  • Isn't it better to send the pictures then to actually go out and have sex with someone? It's a stupid law. A lot of teens are still doing it.

  • Lol vermont sucks ass. I live here... I guess it looks nice but the fucking hippies are everywhere

  • We live in a repressed culture that identifies sexuality with sin and depravity. If you honestly view sex as natural and good, then the expression of sexuality among people who have come of sexual age is also natural and good, so long as its done safely and that they understand the nature of their actions.

  • i do too

  • THANKS PEN I LOVE UR VIDS :D

  • well if you can send a picture around of your dick or your pussy well thats pornography, well if you can do that, then you must be able to click "OVER THE AGE OF 18 OR 21" on a porn site

  • stupid as shit. Ya know what, if some young girls take pics of their tits, and are stupid enough to get it sent around. If they videotape themselves poundin the mound, its their deal. And if I happen to come across them ANONymously or by CHANce their fault my WIN.

  • um wasnt this guy a good magician now he gives a opinion on thing s and he is athesist um i really dont like penn but his magic was good wat a weird carrer change

  • Would like to hear Penn's opinion of this ten years from now when his kids are teenagers. I'd not a betting man, but if I were, I'd be willing to wager his opinion at least regarding his own children would be a little more conservative in nature.

  • Criminally prosecuting teenagers, affecting them for the rest of their lives for doing something in private is different than not wanting your own children to partake in said actions. Calling a sixteen year old a pedophile because a picture of his balls got around is a bit harsh. Wouldn't you agree?

  • I fully agree, but you have to remember that nothing has been private since the early 1950's.

  • i agree

  • Then you don't seem to know him very well. I'd say he's far more likely to be a good parent who won't damage his kids by meddling or interfering with their normal curiosity. I certainly don't see him ever advocating the heavy hand of the law having anything to do with this.

  • Technically, kissing is not a biological thing, but a cultural thing. There's nothing in our DNA that specifically encourages putting our lips and tongues together. Many cultures around the world didn't have kissing, and some still don't. Kissing originated in France, which obviously lead to "French Kissing".

  • a law against sexting is a law against morality, same as drug, and prostitution laws

  • These stupid sexting laws only discourage teenage sex, bottom line. Alot of parents like using government to control their teenage kid's sex life. Well let me say this, if you can't handle your 15 or 16 year old child having sexual experiences then deal with it. Its bad enough that we have pedophiles around but government treating your own kids as the same kind of people who prey upon teenagers is just as bad.

  • Guys, Penn's trying to speak up in favor of civil liberties. He's not saying it's a good thing that pedophiles could possibly get ahold of the pictures. He's saying that kids of a certain age start experimenting sexually, and always have from the dawn of man, and sexting is nothing all that new. It used to be polaroids when I was in high school. It's nothing new or immoral.

  • I have no desire to sext anyone and neither do you so we have the freedom of choice to not do it. Thier is not simpleness and beauty when God enters ones life at least the one that you are advocating who seems to be one angry unjust unknowing motherfucker. You don't know anymore about whether thier is a God or not then anyone else so stop acting like you are some authority on the matter.

  • just saying wow unbelievable is not being logical...it is assuming that people will agree with you if adults like your or me look at those pictures its fucked up but when i was sixteen I jerked off to other sixteen year olds because thats what I knew and that does not make me or anyone sick for doing that

  • Thier is definitley no hell and probably no God. Penn Jillette is pro freedom for everyone!!! He is about government staying the fuck out of our lives in every area. You are not better then anyone because you have God in your lives...its just that you can justify your bullshit

  • Oh my god he is talking about consentual texting...its not underrage if its two sixteen year olds send it to each other

  • lol obamination. nice1 bro.

    have fun with your ass-backwardsness.

  • this guy is insane! and so is vermont... i cant believe what im hearing yo. its just so immoral. imagine what these kids would grow up to if this was ok. wow... unbelievable... i hope his kids will come across someone in the future who knows God and beauty and simpleness of having God in they lives.

  • If the kid is mature enough to get a cell phone under the age 18 for their OWN purposes... then your giving them consent to do as they please. Simple as that...

  • Sure, as long as you're paying for it entirely with money that you earn. Otherwise, your parents pretty much have you by the balls.

  • Its porn, LET THEM FAP!!!111

  • It's kids having fun. Bottom line. They aren't hurting anybody, they are sending these pics because they want to, nobody is forcing them. It's their right to do whatever the hell they want, as long as it is kept private, and sexting as far as I am concerned is just that: a private pornographic conversation between young lovers.

We can't arrest kids for shit like this; it's ridiculous.

  • The problem now is, what if it the under age semi nude or nude photos gets publicized? What will we do then?

The Law will have to step in and do it's thing.

Either stop sexting in all or ignore sexting so all kids and teens can sexting.

  • yeah and allow the govenment to try 16 year olds as adults for consensual sex. What next should we ban teenage consensual sex all together? What is with you people favoring government intervention into kids lives? Are you ashamed that teenagers are using technology to hook up with people they already know? GOvernment just makes a simple situation like this into a serious problem. Your talking about 16 year olds having to register as sex offenders.

  • If it's private, that's great. But there's nothing inherently private about this. Most kids don't think about the consequences of what can happen once a picture is saved to someone's computer. It's a bigger issue than a simple "consensual act" when the act is actually a permanent product.

  • Babies are pretty permanent too. And it should be a lower moral hurdle to delete a photograph.

  • There's a certain level of control in preventing a baby, though. You know...condoms and such. Mistakes will happen, but that's far from being the default product of protected sex.

  • well, ya, there's split opinions about sexting, and we can argue for days if it sould be acceptable or not, but i think one thing is clear, sexting is NOT child pornography. child pornography is a horrible thing, which sould be punished very severely, but sexting??? its just young kids exploring their sexuality!! it might be stupid, it might be wrong, but it certainly isn't nearly as bad as child pornography. so first of all, fix the laws, and then you can make new ones if you really have to.

  • No doubt the law is crazy and people who advocate "sex offender" status be placed on these kids should be ignored. Though i do think there are some cases of kids doing this shit and then it blowing up all over town and they kill themselves, so i don't know. There are obviously some kids who aren't thinking ahead and don't realize this shit can be permanent when uploaded to the internet and end up on principle andersons "favorites" list. Its not the end of the world, but there IS a downside too

  • lol i love the intro.

"nice, sunny, beautiful day, lets talk about sexting" {paraphrased} lol. that's bad ass.

  • i agree with him i am over 18 but i do it all the time and i know my man likes it because when hes away i want him to look at me and not outher girls so i send him lots of nudes but i do think there should be a age limit to it

  • "That's bad, ha ha" what the fuck was funny about that?

  • I dunno - I might just be a product of my parents, but I don't think kids should have cell phones before they are 16 / 17 years old and driving to begin with. I know all the arguments about practicality, but you know, those of us who didn't have cell phones in high school did just fine.

  • I think we need to ask whether it's okay to assume that kids are really *capable* of consenting to things like this. Because of a not-yet-fully-developed prefrontal cortex, you can argue until a certain age, kids neurologically won't be too good with some of that higher reasoning business. (Like, say, considering whether a picture will still be floating around in 10 years.)

So does this mean that they have to be protected from themselves? Yeah...although that's kind of why we have parents.

  • its there fault if they send out to a pic to anyone that will pass it around. maybe these parents need to fix there childs judgment. not the fact that they wanna see someone naked. anyone under age can get into a porn sit. and if a 15 chick wants to send a pic to her bf thats also 15. that shouldnt be child porno. its ment in a good way. im 15 and theres hell of a no way im passing up a nude picture of my gf b/c im attracked to her physically and mentally. this new law is bull shit.
