Very cool that the FSA archive exists. I will have to poke around in it a little more. I recently saw an interesting piece about how the images that are best known, and were picked up by news sources at the time, are all the ones that show hardship. Yet there are many that also show celebration, especially music and dancing. That is not to say that the suffering was not real, but that is not the whole story. I like that you have both - perfect for the song.
Life can be so hard for so many. We've seen it before, we see it now, and I suspect we'll see it again and again. Yet I'll never lose the hope that we'll remember that we're meant to become love; that we're meant to show love. When the illusion of all else dies away, that's all there is left alive in us. That's the message I get from Steve's song (enhanced by your awesome video) ! :)
WOW! Stunning song, which I have always loved! I hear it differently today. Some of these images are beautiful; some are not. Some of the lives they portray are beautiful; some are not. Some images show hints of music as parts of our lives; some do not. But all the places and all the people and all their lives are real; and I love Steve Earle for always telling us the truth.
Love the pics, nice job.

Sorry - didn't realize I had posted multiple times. Youtube was acting up, and I thought it wasn't going through. I deleted them.

Nicely done - are these all Lange photographs?

@nilradem Nope... I've worked here with Lange's but also Mydans, Rothstein, Sheldon, Collier, Delano and Hart's work - among others. Thanks!

Pure excellence. Very sad, though.
