  • @wingolf22 Sure, real peaceful cultures they were. The Galls were real peaceful when they invaded Greece in 287 and sacked Rome in 390 BC. The huge horde of Teutones were being real peaceful when they cut their way through both Gallic and Roman lands until they were stopped by Gaius Marius. And Boudicca sure was peaceful when she slaughtered Romans and fellow Britons alike in Londinium and Verulamium during her rebellion.

  • If you wanna see the Germanic tribes massacre the Romans check this page out

great military battles.com under the Roman Empire tab battle of Teutoburg

  • barbarians, savage tribes ... i cant hear this shit anymore! who invaded those lands? the romans were the savage barbarians that attacked german, celtic and slavic territory and brought war to peaceful cultures!

the americans just happen to easily identify themselves with the romans for their militarism and disrespect for other cultures, thats why we get all these crappy 'documentary' clips that are so totally one sided

  • i am sure pannonia was refer to as Illayia back than

  • The germans at this time must be so stink

  • 6:00 MOLESTER!!!!1

  • @franco4514 I'm sorry, I don't speak Italian. Though I used google translate to see whay you wanted to tell me. And I agree with you.

  • actually Muslims bought Plagues to Europe from Africa. fuck them they are now ruining the west and used to be also ruin the west.

  • @SquareCrystal

There was no Muslim religion during Rome's Time, nor during Alexander's either.

Islam only became a religion in 1100 AD.

  • @RyanBrooksby

    I meant after 1100AD.

  • @RyanBrooksby I think it's a bit older than that. As far as I remember it dates back from VII centrury.

  • @vukashin88

They might've been hindu but not technically Muslim. Or Islam under a different name.

  • @RyanBrooksby Hindu, seriously kid? Are you by some chance illiterate? Type Islam in google and go to wikipedia. It was the 7th century.

  • @vukashin88

There's no need to insult me over it, jeez. Okay so they existed in the 7th century. No wonder life in the 7th century sucked...Religion ruined Rome.

  • @RyanBrooksby I'm sorry I insulted you, but I really couldn't comprehend you put Hindu in the same bandwagon with Muslims...O.o I mean really LOL.

On the other hand, well, Huns destroyed Roman Empire, and the subsequent Great Migrations of peoples. Wave upon wave of barbarians flooding over the borders and pillaging everything in sight.

  • @vukashin88

Well I think the Huns should've pillaged China. Fuck them and their stupid ways, Rome was a much better lifestyle. At least one didn't die so often from disease unlike in Gaul.

Rome was good, China just cowered behind walls whilst the Huns just pillaged Rome and created the dark ages. The most pathetic time in History, the rise of Militant Religion. (e.g. Crusades, Jihads)

  • @RyanBrooksby It doesn't really work that way in real life. Besides, lifestyle? That doesn't really exist. People lived according to their tradition and beliefs. There was no 'better' lifestyle.

Oh, and China really isn't that close to the Urals (where Huns come from), nor did they have the Wall completed by that time.

And Gaul was a part of the Roman Empire for 500 years by then, and it was thriving. There really wasn't much difference in life quality between there and Italy for example.

  • @vukashin88

WTF are you talking about? Gaul before Rome was a mess. Warlords and Tribes controlling Gaul, they had no organised standing army like Rome, they had diseases, betrayal, and they were scared of the damned rain (Alesia.)

You're really telling me people from Gaul lived better than Rome? In Rome, I had a higher life expectancy.

  • @RyanBrooksby I thought you were talking about ROMAN Gaul, after the conquest. Read more carefully what I said.

And regarding diseases, well, it was a mess both on the Roman side as well as the Gaulish. It's a sort of a tie since ordinary people living in the cities lived in their own litter, but I see what's your point.

  • @vukashin88

My point is Rome = Awesome,

    Gaul = Fail.

If you let the Gods decide you're battles, you've already lost. (I'm referring to Alesia.)

  • @RyanBrooksby I know what you wanted to say. The thing is, Romans were far better organised and much less superstitious, and that's the real reason they prevailed (and eventually spread their civilization all over Europe making it the base of our European civilization today).

If you're interested in history, and play video games, I'd suggest you try Europa Barbarorum. It's more of a history lesson combined with nice and realistic gameplay. You'll learn much new stuff and have a great time...

  • @vukashin88 ...at the same time. It's a mod for Rome Total War and it's arguably one of the best mods for any game ever. Much knowledge and hard work went into that piece of software and I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you're interested drop me a PM and I'll explain what exactly you need for it.

  • @vukashin88

I'm playing Hearts of Iron at the moment but isn't Europa a mod for Medieval...or Empire...or Rome total war?

And Yes I know why Gaul's fail. Never trust a God. Rome used to ACTUALLY believe in Gods, Christianity and Islam's gods were fake just to enact the Jihads and Crusades.

Which were arguably the two biggest pointless wars of their time. But at least it stopped the Seljuk's for a while.

I still call the city Constantinople, not goddamned Istanbul.

  • @RyanBrooksby Wasn't really pointless

  • @funnyguyagency

Well think about it, the Turks did not need Constantinople, and the Crusades were launched because the Turks were invading Byzantium and would invade Europe.

Pointless really if there was no Religion. Then the Turks would have no legitimate reason to attack.

  • @RyanBrooksby Nonono crusades was like world war 1 tension was building around europe nd religion was merely an excuse to vent this out nd get lots of free conscripts while at it, nd from the popes view it was to stop the various kingdoms from fiting each other nd make them all loyal to the pope

  • @funnyguyagency

No, if the Turks conquered Constantinople before 1453 and didn't get their asses kicked at Vienna, who would stop them? The Pope wanted to stop a Muslim invasion. (No offence to any Muslims.)

If Byzantium, the richest Empire at that time, couldn't stop the Turks on it's own land, how could Europe?

  • @RyanBrooksby well turks are hardly likely to hav attempted to conquer whole of europe in one invasion, that wud be veerrryyy stupid.

Also sorry if im wrong here but wasnt byzantium's power already fading away by the time it was attacked? also remember when rome attacked tarentum they had enough gold to raise more than 10000 men or so but they didnt

  • @funnyguyagency

    Rome didn't exist 1453.

But the Turks could've invaded, they had quite a large army and if united under Saladin they would've had more than a million men.

After-all these men come from near Persia who fielded over 300,000 men.

The Crusades didn't even launch 100,000.

  • @RyanBrooksby just using rome as an example of how corruption can stop the wealth -> military conversion.

btw i dnt follow u nymore...r u saying that the turks cudve easily attked europe? cos that wud mean the crusades WERE necessary o.0

  • @funnyguyagency

Well yeah, but maybe if they'd helped out sooner instead of take Byzantium's riches for themselves (the Pope/Christian nations) the Turks would've been sent back to their dark hole they crawled out of.

No offence, but attempting to destroy a nation based on Rome, makes you a barbaric, uncivilised monkey.

  • @RyanBrooksby um...ok lol im outta this conversation

  • @funnyguyagency

    Well think about it;

Byzantium is the late Descendant of Rome.

Turks never contributed to any developments/advancements of Humanity.

You fail to give a reasonable argument.

  • @RyanBrooksby ummm yea i dont want to hear that from u lol

  • @SquareCrystal Actually the Crusaders brought plague back from the Middle East after it arrived there from Asia with the Mongols.

  • that tells a lot of the man.

  • @pcortes1987 Marcus Aurelius also helped out the people of Rome after a great fire - he used his own money - it was part of his stoic philosophy - his diary which was never to be for public history was written whilst he was on campaigne fighting the various Nordic-Celtic nations of Germania - that diary became known as the Meditations one of the greatest books of Stoic philosophy - I have read it twice - some good practical & rational advice for life in it.

    All the best

    David
