  • I like the mention of Bolton :)

  • "No sir, we don't censure you, we just want the money!" Honesty is rare, even in humorous sketches

  • Wow, I can't believe some American cable channel hasn't come up with this idea.

  • BEST GAME SHOW IDEA EVER!

  • Which season is this sketch from? I'm trying to figure out if the blackmail amount in the film is in whole pounds (if it is from the first three seasons) or pounds and pence.

  • I believe that Patricia Hearst was watching this sketch on TV in her apartment when she was kidnapped.

  • They picked on Preston again!

  • this should be for premier league footballers who have affairs

  • "We'll be showing you more of that photograph later in the program. Unless we hear from Charles or Michael." Howls! Howls of derisive laughter, Bruce!

  • Someone should make Blackmail: Millionaire Edition

  • tell you

  • monty python is great. great I tell you!

  • blackmail would have been a great game show

  • Michael Palin is my idol!

  • Well, To Catch a Predator makes the Blackmail show look pretty tame by comparison...

  • @stewux all comedy videos on YouTube turn into some heated debate. It's best just to ignore the up tight bastards

  • wow the quality for this is pretty darned good for a video posted back in 06!

  • How the hell did the comments section on a great Monty Python sketch turn into a debate about Obama??!! Give it a rest please guys!

  • Um... at 0:47 I think we see the earliest known appearance of Robert Webb...

  • Michael Palin would be the best host ever, ever, ever!!!!!

  • I used to drive my mum nuts when I was a kid, playing the organ naked in homage to python.

we don't morally censure, we just want the money LOLOLOL

  • @mrspivvy D'you still play organ naked? I don't morally censure, I just want your body.

Shit! Did I say "body"?? I meant "money". LOL LOL LOL

  • "No, sir, we don't morally censure you, we just want your money!"

"Oh please, can't you censure me a little?"

  • Kinda like News Of The World eh?

  • @ANGEL

You can't lie about something as big as a birth certificate and get away with it for to long if you're running for pres. Even Haiti denied Wyclef because of his birth status.

  • @playboymaxim

    How very niave.

  • A pathogen in the soil.

This is Chewby Lewis? I pictured him smaller.

  • WHAT is the music in the video i love it.

  • my ears said it sounded like michael palin, but my brain told me it was a gloria allred press conference. weird.

  • OH MY GOD he looks like John Waters

  • How much would you pay for Terry Gilliam as a nude organist?

  • @xxPatheticEmoxx Priceless

  • They were way ahead of their time. This is the kind of shit-tv we have now. And please stop debating Obama.

  • 1:121 WTTTTTFFFFFF ????????????

  • The music in the video is Jack Trombey - Roving Report No.2

  • @ZanAnders Many thanks! I've been hunting this track for years!!!

  • That's Terry Gillam in the piano

  • @den10harry oh god it is...

  • Ohhhhh Michael Palin. You make a girl weak in the knees :)

  • 2:00 the music that starts here is awesome, I know the song but can't find it anywhere, duh ;)

  • 2:00 bloody hell makes my head go boom

  • I didn't know Robert Webb played the piano.

  • 12 people come from Bolton.

  • thumbs up for the dude on the piano

  • Too bad we can't do politicians like this, because no of them feel shame, lol. They could do anything short of not believing in God or having a homosexual relationship and their asses would still get elected.

  • @greenjoker713 What's wrong with not believing in God or being homosexual?

  • @gietek For private citizens like us, nothing. For Politicians (US), it is career suicide to come out as an atheist or have a public homosexual relationship. The conservatives and Fox News would mercilessly expose him or her.

  • @greenjoker713 unless you're a republican already in power, then Fox News will sweap under the rug until the next election cicle... but otherwise, yeah, agreed

  • @pamsp

I think you confused the word "republican" with the word "democrat".

Unless you've completely forgotten the fact that we don't even have Obama's birth certificate, nor did he give up his phone like every president is supposed to.

  • @AngelFluttershy767 yes, because Fox News isn't the one that started the whole no birth cerificate rumor, which he presented twice... I'm not a huge fan of Obama myself, but I criticize political and administrative aspects of his government, not some coolwater rumor more fit to high-school then the oval office...

  • @pamsp

Oh, so it's just a rumor that he has no birth certificate? Well I'd sure love someone to show me the real one.

  • @AngelFluttershy767 youtube doesn't allow links, but just google "obama birth certificate" go to images and you'll see both the one he presented when started office(the short version) and the one he released now(the long version), unless you expect he'll go door to door showing it himself, after all, is not like he has a country to run or anything...

  • @pamsp

You know exactly what I meant.

And big whoop, it's not like it's that hard for him to forge a few papers, duh. Oh liberals, always making excuses for yourselves..

  • @AngelFluttershy767 yes, but forging papers is still harder then forging claims that he never presented any papers, really I even respect ppl that disagre with political views, but that birth certificate story is just absurd, made to destabilize his presidency, and to me is just as wrong as when liberals made up that George Bush was the lowest IQ president since 1950, when in reality there was no IQ test involved, just fabricated lies to attack someone personally...

  • @AngelFluttershy767 don't you think that experts will have checked that all the candidates for the election had real birth certificates? there is no way in hell he would be president if he didn't have a birth certificate!

  • @kraziekatt2000

    lol How naive..

Ever heard of lying? Yah, it happens. And democrats do it aaaall the time.

  • @AngelFluttershy767

i'm telling you that it's impossible to become the head of a country if you do not possess the proper documents.

    also, you're a fucking racist

  • @kraziekatt2000

Yah, I'm a racist because I don't like someone who happens to be black. Are you really that stupid? I don't hate him because of his skin color, I could give less of a crap about that, I hate him because he is DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY. You're blind if you don't see that.

  • @AngelFluttershy767

and i suppose you could do better?

the pour guy is head of a country that has so many depts they've lost count.

he's actually done pretty well considering his budget is practically nil.

yes, i'm blind as i don't see how he is the one you blame for ruining the country.

he hasn't used a random excuse that means nothing to start a war on a random country, he hasn't blown anything up, he hasn't gone bankrupt...

there's millions of things that could've gone wrong but didn't

  • @AngelFluttershy767 and FYI, I just said republicans because the original post was talking about Fox News, if it was MSNBC it would be the same sentence only with Democrats in it, and instead of "atheist" and "public homosexeual reletionship" it would be "compromise with extreme religious groups" and "stalling civil-rights movements" both sides have their "news" propaganda agencies...

  • the 12 people who dont like this are the people who got blackmailed!

  • @crackerkiller187

    Because "WHITE"mail would be racist.

  • oh good lord michael is adorable!!!

  • I would kill to watch this show, then get blackemailed to keep them quiet.

  • 12 people didn't send the money to blackmail and had their lives ruined

  • but besids that.... amazing video

  • the video print wasnt good... wldav given children siezurs

  • what is the song please?

  • @OlaNaTungee6 Found out it's "Roving Report no. 2" by Jack Trombey.

  • @dasmikey1964 WOW! dasmikey1964! How can I ever repay you?

  • "to stop us revealing the name of your lover in Bolton"

........shouldn't that be "your lover in Notlob"?

    heheheee.

  • I would watch this if Blackmail was a show.

  • Great sketch, but the Stop the Film Bit had it backwards. Surely the longer you're seen on TV doing something bad, the cheaper the blackmail money should be.

  • @peterburd -- Well, it wasn't until the end that we were seeing Mr. Whoever was seeing a dominatrix-for-hire... up until then, it was just grainy footage of some upper class Briton coming down a street and entering a house.

  • @peterburd Oh yes, because everything Monty Python makes is completely logical.

    And don't call me Shirley.

  • this is the sketch where i fell in love with michael =)

  • No, it's quite all right. We don't morally censure you; we just want the money.

  • Is it me or does that piano/keyboard player look like a mad version of Marc Warren?

  • I'll check out next time I'm in Victoria Station

  • Now this was ahead of its time, how long before a show like this comes on prime time?

  • I think there were 11 people who are bitter about getting blackmailed by the show.

  • Terry Jones is much better playing the organ naked.

  • Palin has that excellent cheeky grin, you just know that he's up to something.

  • i dont get this at all

  • @gamerseye171 Exactly

  • @gamerseye171 Blackmailing is false accusations of a person. Or as to say, lying about a person, or exploit someone for anothers gain. The sketch is suppose to be a tv show that launders money from others before they can exploit the person on the video.

  • @gamerseye171 Do you not know what blackmail means? If you do then it should be plainly obvious.

  • ... so this is where my parents go tthe saying "and now for sometihng completely different"

  • Ha, Ha! I don't give a rat's ass whether or not they reveal my father's indiscretions...;-)

  • Who put these guys in charge of the U.S. Federal Reserve bank? I will have answers by God!!!

  • Bolton?

    You said it was Ipswich!

  • Csi is watching me

  • LOVE the naked guy playing the organ. XD!

  • @MtheGate It's Terry Gilliam.

  • @MtheGate terry gilliam

  • @MtheGate in the original sketch it was TERRY JONES!!!!

  • Oddly enough, it's the music to the Stop the Film segment that made this a memorable sketch for me. Managed to find out it's a tune called "Swing-A-Day" by Johnny Hawksworth. Haven't been able to track down a copy of that song, though.

  • @dasmikey1964 Oh my god, that song is so attractive!

  • Monty Python: proving once and for all that men aren't the only ones leaving obsessive comments about people of the other gender on Youtube ;D

  • I wonder how they get the funding for that show...

  • Michael Palin OMNOMNOM xD

  • there really should be a show like this, everyone would watch it

  • oh, ya gotta love Michael Palin- He's a lumberjack and he's okay, he sleeps all night and he whacks all day!!! lol

  • I adore Michael Palin. I think he's completely brilliant and completely insane--which I mean in the best possible way of course! I love it when he chews gum and tries to be a gangster.

  • Aside from his outfit, Michael looks quite adorable in this skit. :3

  • There ain't nothin' hotter than a guy with a nice smile, and Michael has one of the best. But it's Terry as the organist and "the youth organization to which they belonged" that toally make this'n.

  • The guy on the organ looks so much like Robert Webb.

  • @sharkey4123 I thought the exact same thing! Then scrolled down and was thankful I was not the only one xD

  • Scary part is this was considered a joke when it first came out. Now with reality TV it doesn't seem too impossible.

  • I've always had the biggest crush on Michael Palin <3

  • @peechyq

    me too!!!

  • @peechyq Me three!!! <3

  • this is the creepiest michael had ever looked on the show

  • I heard that Patty Hearst was watching this sketch in her dorm room at Berkeley the moment she was kidnapped. Has anyone else heard this?

  • I love the intro theme...

  • Such a terrifying concept

  • If someone actually had these names, then... oh god... XD!

  • Michael Palin makes such a good host!

  • Michael Palin I mean, of course...

  • Graham Chapman is wonderfully sleazy...

  • That's weird, the first victim already was exposed and yet she needs to pay 15 pounds. Well, I can see what happens if her family was watching this show together with her, she'll be dumbfounded for sure.

This sketch needs to become reality, see how many people are smart enough to actually not give money. That is something I would like to see.

  • my fav sketch and Michael Palin was my fav.

  • This would be the perfect show, because EVERYONE would watch it to make sure they werent being blackmailed. If they were and they werent watching theyd either owe loads of money or theyd be found out.

  • I'm surprised Channel 5 haven't made this show for real, they'd have a goldmine with all the MP's on the fiddle!!!

  • excellent send me £10000 to stop me revealing your video to the python official site LOL

  • @sneakyuploader too late, if you saw the monty python promo vid it had people like Chander revealed as stealing their videos XD

  • LOL, it was a joke haha funny funny ? yep

    a joke lol

  • @antibones, this is the original version, from the TV show. It was reshot for their clip film "And Now For Something Completely Different" in 1971.

  • Im sure this is from a film, which one is it?

  • @antibones its from a monty python episode, or did you mean that the idea for it came from a film?

  • After pondering about it I must of seen it on a disc with all of Monty Pythons stuff, as it was this non stop cartoon with some presenters (it was about 2 years ago). Thanks for replying anyway

  • Aw, it stopped before he said "See you tonight Dad"

  • I wish Terry G was the nude organist more often. Not to diss Terry J (who was a delightful nude organist), but I think Terry G was fun to see beyond his animations.

  • This has to be a show on Fox. Seriously. *expects a hoard of money from all secrets that I know*

  • I challenge any man to look as hot as Michael Palin does in a leopard print suit.

    <3<3

  • @maryjanenobody

    Accepted.

  • A leopard has dots. Congratulations.

  • The host has an inappropriate smiling problem.

  • i wonder what would happen to those people who didn't watch 'this show' (if it were actually to exist), but their name and 'details' appeared on the show...

  • That's the genius of the show. Anyone with even a slightly guilty conscience would be almost forced to watch it. Along with all those interested in seeing others blackmailed of course.

  • LOL!!!

    you are right!

if such a show would exist in reality it would be the most popular show (for one reason or the other) on tv for for ages perhaps!!!

  • what's also interesting is that you could reverse the show's pay scheme and it would still make sense. If the money was decreasing, you could have the balls to stick it out and endure the scandal. However, the more scared you were, the quicker you would pay (and the higher amount)

  • @LostCenobite Also why just keep it to infidelity? How about if we had people cheating on diets, sneaking cigarettes, sneaking alcohol?

  • For all of you who like music at 2:00, it's Roving Report No.2 by Jack Trombey, not Johnny Hawksworth as it was mentioned few posts below. I've found it at this album: De Wolfe Music Presents - Monty Python's Flying Circus

  • hehe, i love the music at 2:01

  • I wished there was one of those irl!

  • I'm sure you didn't... No, it's all right, sir, we don't morally censure, we just want the money....

    LOL

  • herbert anchovy presents...

  • Imagine if reallity progames were like that, i would watch them.

  • @christl301

You kinda would have to, wouldn't ya? ;)

  • @Trotzkidesu Back in the day when TV stars big Iq's and modest bank balances and today it seems to be the other way round.

  • the grainy film is just like the Max Mosely footage...classic skit

  • The song is called "Swing-A-Day" by Johnny Hawksworth.

  • What music plays from 2:00? Thanks.

  • i am boris.

  • im from thames ditton !!!

  • Comment removed

  • I like this one better because, in the film version, he *looks* like a slimeball. Here, his sweet-looking face contrasts with the dastardly thing he's doing. And Mike's hair is better here.

  • i think the film version edges this *just*!

i think maybe this is slightly rawer and u can sense palin getting into it more with the audience behind him... but the cash register noises on the film version just nail it comedy wise.

    great sketch either way.

  • too bad someone doesn't follow around the politicians in washington and do this. we'd get rid of about 98% of them.

  • He called right as the whip came out...it was a whip, wasn't it?

  • Oooh...15 pounds! Its worth paying it! Thanks for posting this, what a laugh I had! I havent seen this in 20 years!

  • i wonder how long it is before channel 4 do something like this, but with all the comedy removed.

  • Does anyone else think the guy on the piano looks a bit like Robert Webb from Mitchella and Webb? lol, (I know it isn't really...)

  • I believe that's Terry Gilliam - something of a strange man, even for one of the Pythons (and he's the only American among all these Brits. Scary, innit?).

  • Haha, HE REALLY DOES!

That is quite funny actually :P

  • it's scary.

  • I also thought that

  • me too!

  • Does anyone have any clue what the name of the song is that starts at 2:02?

  • Santus!

  • The youth organization to which they belong...

Brilliant XD I WISH there was a show like this x3

  • I'd watch that show.

  • I love Michael Palin in these types of characters! Haha, awesome sketch.

  • Yes, Palin is so got at this... but also when he delivers a sermon. :)
