3 degrees does make a huge difference. Coral reefs have a comfort range of 4 degrees. if the area was in the upper half then now it is outside the range. the ocean has a very delicate balance of life and 100yrs is a heartbeat in evolutionary terms

I don't think you can. The act of sewing repeatly over even knit fabric scraps would  remove the stretch. Hope that helps. If I am wrong let me know.
