  • amazing!

  • AMAZING!! full fucking stop.

  • my birthday what a treat

  • shame you didn`t choke on it

  • Cheers mate - I try to joke about something and that's what I get back.

  • lol thats the best one iv heard yet. thats it blame it on the tape

  • Yeah - shame about that tape - it had some good guitar work on it.

  • neil you twit

  • steo - Im a better guitarist than the edge -

    what a twit !

Chas de Walley was intersested in signing my band at the same time as U2 - he'd already tried the Cortinas and The New Hearts but failed miserably - I was always in his office but the tape we had was a third generation job and was hardly audible! - that's why U2 got signed to CBS - he could actually hear their tape! - that's punk rock for you.

  • Sorry fatherted - I don't like not enjoying bands - I know where you're coming from - I'm a DJ and I have War, Blood red sky, Unforgettable fire, Joshua tree - got all their hit singles - but I don't get them. I suppose I am different to most people because i do like to analyse musicians and it does annoy me when people think the Edge is good on the acoustic guitar - if compared to someone like John Renbourn or Roy Harper he's a bit of a joke - anyway - bored with this argument - all the best.

  • Neil you tool telling the edge how to play lol real knob head

  • steo - you knobhead - if you look at this clip it's obvious the bloke relies on effects pedals for his guitar sound at gigs and on record (even diehard U2 fans knew that right from the start - so it's not really an insult) - strip him away from all the effects pedals and this is what you're left with - a bloke who hasn't got a clue how to play the bloody thing.

  • so you don't think that it takes talent to play with effects ? the edge has invented some of the most amazing sounds, instead of doing it like so many other guitarists have done before him. remember U2 isn't a band that just relies at the guitarist to do incredibly complicated solos..it's four guys who compliment each other.

  • Fair comment, saltis

  • He's successful - doesn't mean he's any good.

Dire Straits have sold more albums than The Grateful Dead - does that mean they're better than them?

  • Why is he barring chords on an acoustic guitar?

Is it some sort of Ramones unplugged session?

That is NOT how to play an acoustic guitar.

It should be open chords with as little movement in the individual strings as possible like all the great country players.

  • @Soh2k8 pure and innocent lyrics.

  • HA! i remember when this was shown,it was that good they played (repeated) it again on the show the following week! this is how its done.

  • this is one of the best things i have ever seen/heard. somewone showed me this about a year ago.....ever single day i have watched this video since. Its unbelievable!!!

  • WOW this HAD to have been pre-planned. Even so, a very good performance by one of the band's best songs.

  • that way they are always at their best:

just pure, voice and guitar, nothing else - straight from the heart sounds like...

it even makes you forget about those silly sunglasses :-)

  • effin brilliant!

  • I was in Dublin, just down the road from the location when this was filmed and it brings back happy memories everytime I watch it.
