  • i really, really, really hope they never build the walkie talkie. the rest are great.

  • @Itdoesntevenryhme lol Agree with you

  • I went on the london eye a few months ago and have seen a few really tall skyscrapers being built, not sure which ones are which though

  • I love how there welcoming new and exciting buildings but I also like how there keeping it away from the historic places like big ben because if anything is build to close to big ben it will easly dwarf if and that will look silly

  • Show Frankfurt when yo can see the future! :P It is a big city in Germany. My mine there are the most beutifuls skyline in Europa! :) To watch an good video of Frankfurt write this in the box: Blaze - Das ist Frankfurt

  • Nice vid..keep up the good work...

  • @toshiadougher thankss, check out the updated vid ive done :)

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO London should remain as it is now they should not flood it with skyscrapers as it will be boring like every other city

  • @AmjadDuhaini exactly!!! America, Australia, Canada, Asia has shit loads of skyscaper jungles.. Europe is traditional..

  • Yeah skyscrapers are part of NYC's style, born out of necessity for space. London is like an ongoing timeline and a few modern buildings are welcome. What I find revolting is somewhere like Dubai that demands super-tall skyscrapers in the middle of a desert in some pathetic need to compete, such as the Burj standing tall like some glaring beacon of waste. What is outstanding is the engineering that has gone into building those buildings though, wonderful.

  • Dreadful :( When will they learn?

  • The Pinnacle looks like a giant Lip Stick.

  • @kasabianbass There's one that looks a lot more like Lipstick. I can't remember it's name but it is quite short and is a bit East of Canary Wharf.

  • WOW I LOVE THEM ALL! Finally some Modern skyscrapers in My country!

  • new york dwarfs this Most of them are commercial kak that people will be have little choice but to live and work in them as land is increasingly becoming more scarce in the UK. The pinnable (helta skelta). The walkie talkie' is by far the worst. There is no design or any deep thinking how many seconds did that concept take. Londons skyline to me is scarred by cheap shit blocks of architecture. We need to look at the buildings of New York, Chichago, Tokyo, HK, Singapore.

  • @sportsnation32835 not really true, london is probably the onl;y city in the world to incoporate modern day sky scrapers (shard, bishopsgate) with classic architecture (bigben, st pauls). the cities you mentioned merely have height without history. So you have living museums like paris, and on the other end of the scale, alien cities like shanghai. LOndon is the only one to have what both of these cities have. Maybe beijing aswell (forbidden temple as history).

  • @2491cc yes but that is about to change as new supertalls are being built in new york but my point is even if london had 3 buildings taller than all of new york's it still doesnt make it a "taller" city as new york has the most highrises at over 6,000 second place has about 2,000 basically what im saying is no couple of buildings can change the overall height of a city

  • @MrLoudPacc I agree, New York is the home of the skyscraper

  • @2491cc but as a city london is one of my favorites in design because of the point you made like dubai and shanghai just look too shiny and cheesy and dont really have that essesnce of a great city atleast yet...

  • @2491cc Very true, but then you get a city like Hong Kong that has twice as many skyscrapers as New York.

  • @Poptronic yeah but New York has so much more character than Hong Kong.

  • @20cFilmWannabe This is true. Living only 30 minutes from New York City, I will admit I take it for granted and often forget what an awesome city it is. A day in New York for me, like the other 18.8 million people who live in the metro area, is just another "day in the city." For most of the other 6.9-something billion people in the world, New York is a truly epic place and I unfortunately forget that. Long live New York!!!

  • @Poptronic id love to live in New York and experience the buzz of the city. western cities in my opinion are superior to the new skyscraper cities of Asia.

  • @MrLoudPacc But I would not want London to have as many as New York. Eventually they would be taking out the historical buildings that actually have meaning, or disrupting the area of them. You can't put a skyscraper right nexk to St Paul's or the Houses or Parliament. If they were to build higher, I would only like them to replace smaller skyscrapers that are already among others. London was never meant to have any building taller than St. Paul's Cathedral. That was London's viewpoint.

  • @fluffymole0913 o no lol i would never expect that it would have that many i just love the way london shows its history and the new glassy buildings are like a another layer to the city's rich history kind of like how new york is doing this except for the fact that new yorks building dont date back as far as londons instead they show the deco style of the industrial area mixing with the more modern buildings erecting in new york

  • @fluffymole0913 I understand, but you have to see the bigger picture... London, alongside New York, is the world's leading financial center and alpha ++ city. In city's like these that expand due to increasing investment, business, etc, there have to be places to house the individuals and businesses for work, in turn, skyscrapers. Prominent cities like London, New York, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong don't put these enormous buildings up because they want to, but rather, because they NEED to.

  • new york dwarfs this

  • @sportsnation32835

Funnny as London overtook new york as the worlds financial capital in 2008, with more banks and cash being in London than any other city in the world.

  • @sportsnation32835 No it doesn't. The tallest building in London will be 1,017ft. New york only has 2 buildings taller than this, and they're only about 100ft taller. Hardly 'dwarfing'.

  • The walkie talkie is a fucking travesty. That is the ugliest building I've ever seen. How did it even get the go ahead to start bulding. It is in desperate need of a redesign. It's like a hige scar on Londons skyline and will undoubtedly decrease the collective beauty of the city

  • @mrnorthenstar: not really true, london is probably the onl;y city in the world to incoporate modern day sky scrapers (shard, bishopsgate) with classic architecture (bigben, st pauls). the cities you mentioned merely have height without history. So you have living museums like paris, and on the other end of the scale, alien cities like shanghai. LOndon is the only one to have what both of these cities have. Maybe beijing aswell (forbidden temple as history).

  • the walkie talkie looks so ugly and cumbersome. i wish they would redesign it.

  • LOVE LONDON and England

  • LOVE LONDON

  • Thanks for the video! I live in NE Surrey and recently travelled to Wembley to see the Reading vs Swansea game.... I got the train from Farnborough to Waterloo and was very impressed when I caught a glimpse of London bridge tower! That building is going to be very special.... It's like an icicle!! The Gherkin is in trouble I think! I hope that this will be complete before the Olympics so the whole world can admire it.... Did the greatest city in the world just get better? I think so!

  • All these buildings will look fantastic. I cant wait to visit london again.

  • Most of them are commercial kak that people will be have little choice but to live and work in them as land is increasingly becoming more scarce in the UK.

  • As Borat would say: I LIKE!

    The Pinnecle looks especially cool.

  • ugly

  • Pinnacle 288m

  • now we just flying cars everywhere

  • These buildings look great I just hope they don't overdo it and just make London another concrete jungle.

  • This is just what London needs to maintain itself as one of the greatest and most famous cities in the world. I have no doubt that the culture will remain throughout the city but it will be considered as a much more contemporary city.

  • Oh London, London, London...please don't become the new Dubai! The beauty of London is in it's old world charm. All the smaller buildings. Modern is great but don't overdo it. Everyone loves London because of it's historic buildings. Dubai is blech and all these new buildings in london are a little too Dubai-ish.

  • @likethepear i disagree, the importance of culture in London is not forgotten, and will be preserved however it shows true architectural genious to be able to incorporate a new building that not only works with the history but adds to it, London must be a city of history but it must also be a center of commerce and the future to maintain it's status as one of, if not the best city in the world

  • @likethepear London must constantly change and adapt to remain in the present. I certainly would not want London to become a living museum like Paris. Also Paris doesnt come close to London in terms of vibrancy and wealth partly for this reason.

  • @nograviti

'Remain in the present' and 'vibrant' both in one comment.

    Wow.

  • @nograviti

    Paris is not a "living museum". That's a polyester-hearted progressive thought-terminating cliché.

Paris is an ancient, current, and bustling city.

"Museum" evokes images of a deserted and creepy city.

Paris's built envirnment is as legitimate now as when it was first built.

"stay in the present ".. it scares me that aperson can say that and think it means something. Architects must accord what with what?

  • @nograviti ive been to Paris and its very similar to London. i think you would find rome is a living museum. just sayin

  • @nograviti lol London is the exact same as Paris.. In terms of history And id say Paris actually has more skyscrapers then london.. Europe has the oldest cities with the most beautiful old victorian buildings etc.. i dont see why you'd wanna demolish them for more skyscapers that look ugly.. Its just not Europe..especially for old cities like Berlin, Paris, London, Amsterdam etc

  • 1 Blackfriars Road is hideous, it's got a hunchback...and I hate the 'Walkie Talkie', but the rest look great.

  • 0:47 BETTER THAN NYC OR ANY OTHER SKYLINE EVA!!!

  • @randomiuy not yet. Form follows function.

  • I hate skyscrapers...

  • @HidanYaoiGuy because I prefer London's old architecture.

  • @NottinghamForest22 admirable, but its important to realize that without new development it would be impossible for London to keep its title as one of the 3 international financial hubs and would surely be beaten out by cities like New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong,Paris etc.

  • @HidanYaoiGuy Yeah I suppose so. Got to compromise.

  • @NottinghamForest22 The skyscrapers are built in sectioned areas, mainly city and Isle of Dogs.

Isle of Dogs is or was a dump so no problems there.

The city was mostly lost in the fire of London so there is really no ancient architecture there, some old buildings buts not old old. Its actually a bit of a dump so this will help regenerate. There are loads of places for nice architecture around the rest of "London".

  • i don't like the walkie talike one it looks stupid but the pinnacle one looked good and complemented the gherkin and natwest tower, the walkie alkie however insulted them.

  • @chatteyj yes definitely, was thinking the exact same thing, it's really... "fat" and square, whilst the other three are slender and unique

  • Thankyou for the slideshow.

  • Im 100% for skyscrapers provided no historic buildings are compromised. London has the greatness to have both.

  • 1 blackfriars and the walkie talkie are both on hold though arent they?

  • This makes me proud to be British, how we can build some great modern buildings whilst keeping our historic landmarks.

Shame we can't seem to build as fast as other countries though, it seems like we have 2 hours of H&S talk for 1 hour's work.

Hopefully we can get these built without too many delays, perhaps the Olympics will speed things up.

  • @G1NZOU

That is the beauty of London. The City with a Roman Wall and ancient Persian temple can also have modern skyscrapers

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 Damn right.

London's going to look great in 2012.

  • @G1NZOU

Thankyou. I agree. Although im not well versed on the comprehensive side of architecture im excited to see the skyline of our great capital then!

  • @WoordWerks - Your second point smacks of plain idiocy though.

What, so London is already wealthy enough that it shouldn't try and progress in the manner of other world cities? I'd much rather see increased demand for office space being supplied by these top of the range skyscrapers than the often overbearing groundscrapers that seem to fill the square mile currently.

  • @WoordWerks - You show an inherent lack of knowledge of architecture by labelling these fine buildings, with the exception of the Walkie Talkie (I'm with you on that one), "Post-modernism".

  • i think tall buildings and skyscrapers make a city ! i cant wait to see these buildings up in london !:)

  • I love skyscrapers and it fills me with joy to see London joining the tall buildings club!

    Go London!

  • Skyscrapers are the future for London, so people who don't like them get used to it.

  • walkie talkie is so ugly!! scrap it!!

  • I like the first two. Very futuristic design.

  • if youu pause it on 0:49

i dontt thinkk them buildings will existt

theyy seem to big =/ snm londonn UK!!!!!!!!!!

  • london is beautiful and fascinatig city as it is! please don't ruin!

  • sheffield lol its a hard working class town mate. some of this is quite miss guided. your 23 cant you bag your own shopping lol

  • horrible! very bad taste!!

  • @weix62 FUCK OFF

  • @shotbailey

We can have beautiful views from primrose hill, hampstead, and greenwich.

I agree it's not that nice for people who actually have to work down in the city, but that serves them right for working in the city.

  • does anyone know what the shard will be used for?

  • it's stupid how there is the square mile and canary wharf, there should be one financial capital of london not two. skyscrapers only work in clusters

  • now there talking peopl!

  • Damn I was beginning to think that London needed these things I wonder what future non-built structures will look like :)

  • are all the buildings are being built

  • Britain is turning into a Lady GaGa look what I mean by that is one ugly cheap piece of shit. What happened to amazing architecture like the st Paul's Cathedral. I am quite happy that we are starting to go bigger and more modern but can't we have a better architect do it.

  • @JamieT96 do u know anything about architecture... London needs progress do u think when they were building st pauls cathedral that there were many ppl saying look at this bonkers circular roof we need good old architecture like castles.

  • The sooner the better, get them up, lets see a London with a bit of character in the air instead of being stuck in the past!!!!

  • The pinnacle will have 60 floors. Not 47.

  • ahh sorry about that, old video now and i didnt notice that. thanks.

  • @theagent104 NO,, Pinnacle is a 288 m (945 ft), 63-storey skyscraper

  • @theagent104 It will have 72 floors

  • @theagent104 Sorry i was talking about other building :D

  • The last building DOES look like a walkie talkie. Very novel buildings.

  • Doe's anyone know if the leadenhall buildind has been canceled or posponed?

  • @antonjon1 at the moment its on hold :/

  • @rawesomeadam Not any more, British Land received some equity from a Canadian Pension Fund so it is going up : )

  • @antonjon1 its on hold

  • @antonjon1 now it's under construction.

  • @antonjon1 Restarts in July 2011 completion now Q2 2014

  • @antonjon1 Both the Leadenhall Building and the Walkie Talkie have been given the go-ahead in Nov 2010. Construction is set to begin at the beginning of 2011.

  • @antonjon1 work has restarted

  • The Pinnacle is being built to 288 m

  • i live in london but scared of heights :(

  • very exsiting, I can't wait to see them

  • they should build all these tall buildings at the same area as a massive cluster, i haven't got a clue why they are spreading them out.

  • they are its just half of them are in the old city of london and the others where built on the old docks canary wharf

  • @1234567loading

They spread them out because of public transport issues. If they built one massive cluster the tube stations would be overwhelmed, so they will build mini clusters around the public transport hubs around the city.

  • Ohh i see it's a perfect, most meaningful answer thanks ...

  • I wanna move to London now.

  • I wish the heights were given in feet.

  • lol the first one is about 1050 ft the rest were about 800 and lower :P

  • i robot

  • At 1:20,"Baltimore Wharf" tower is cancelled!!!!

  • are you sure ?? i thought it was already under constructiion?

  • Well I checked on the Internet,there's a list of projects,and it says "cancelled".Have thgs changed since..?I dunno,hope so,cause it's a lovely tower.

  • "Hermitage Plaza","Tour Triangle", "Tour D2","Tour Generali","Tour First" etc (PARIS)

  • What about it?

  • i still prefer the Gherkin but these make welcome additions. But we still have shitty weather on the whole and far too many 3rd world immigrants so London is not desirable to me and English girls mostly have become fat and ugly like Americans now.

  • London is the best city in the world

  • great video really great

  • thnx :) do u think i should make some more on the progress of the buildings or something??

  • yea that would be great will you check out my vids?

  • Just Incredible :) Cheers m8

  • yh, show pics and videos of the construction sites!

  • Bck from LDN 2day.Great work dude!Boomerang Tower has not started yet?Walkie talkie?/Strata is impressive though!

  • I dunno if you live in LDN,but indeed it would be great if you could update the progress(Shard,Pinnacle among others,Strata)I took some pics from Strata in E&C last wk,amazing!!Gd job dude!

  • yes, i do live in london and im doing an update on heron tower in a few days. and i will proably do an update on the shard when the core starts to rise.

  • Alright, that's fab dude!I d't live in LDN anymore,I left it after 4 years last march, therefore I cannot check the works on the spot like I used to=( I look 4ward to your videos=),thk U.

  • is their construction actually definate?

  • oh yes.. the shard, the pinnacle and heron tower are all under construction and im pretty sure all the others are approved

  • Are they still actually building these? i thight they'd stopped due to the recession

  • and Pinnacle will have 66 floors!

  • the LondonBridge tower is going to be 87 floors!

  • The pinnacle is brilliant

  • The walkie talkie is disgusting

  • I see and believe London itself to be one huge construction site. It is a beautiful, historic, ever-changing city and I feel that the people moaning about how modern architecture does not compare to the historical examples throughout the city are being a little close-minded. All of London's buildings are full of character. Like it or not, I dream of a London where the ever-growing number of skyscrapers in The City and Canary Wharf meet, and London becomes a magnificent example of a modern city.

  • i completely agree with you, i love all of londons buildings old and new!

  • I hope the 'walkie talkie' does not continue, it's an absolute monstrosity. If completed it would be hailed as a great peice of modern architecture, but 30/40 years later, we would look back and regret it. Just look at the buildings that have stood the test of time, and those that now blight our city skyline. I think you'll find the 60's was an architectural era we would all like to forget. I hope the noughties isn't soon going to be.

  • its 20 fenchurch street the walkie talkie

  • i remember its shaped like a tin of ham look it up on google images
