  • @j10jep2 The Hunting rifle shot? Yeah, thats likely what it was. However, look at a charger while he is charging, his head isn't visible from the back. This was on the X360 so the aim assist could have gave them a magical shot. It was Coach that got the kill, not Ellis in front of me so I know it was a rear headshot.

    Besides this video is ancient, why do people still bother with it? Oh thats right, cause his hit detection is still unreliable -_-

  • @mattbru2 As far as I know, the entire body of the Charger is a 'grab zone', even the wee lil gimpy arm that flaps in the wind :D

  • @Aelokk It didnt always seem like that to me. I have had similar misses with thetiny arm

  • @Garbonzo07 Yeah, it's still an issue on both versions. Popular belief now is that thier engine can't handle player's bodies as projectiles. Considering the hunter, jockey, and charger all use their own body as the projectile and they all have issues, i'm inclined to agree.

    They are upgrading their engine soon (Portal 2 is being developed on the new engine I heard?), so maybe if L4D3 ever gets here, these things won't be such an issue.

  • @Kindatae LOL Dude. No. It doesn't matter how far away you are. I can't remember what it's called, but there's a video on here of a charger standing up on a platform, inches away from a sniping nick, where he eventually point blank charges him off. Plus I've charged from up close a LOT.

  • @Aelokk no, my brother and my dad play this game on the PC and i play on the Xbox 360, an update/patch happens either the same day, or a day later, or a week later AT MOST. but when we watch each other play as the charger, we all get the same glitches of FLYING through ppl as often as i do, so we dont think they fixed anything

  • i agree with this video, its been countless times wear i LITERALLY clipped right through ppl, and for coach stopping the charger, that happens about half the times i use the charger, valve should just play as the JOCKEY and charger and see the glitches it so FREQUENTLY happens when you play as them.

  • Yeah, i noticed stuff like this happening to me before. I play on the 360, so i dont know if its any different. But the rifle doing almost instant kill damage and stuff is always happening to me. It seems everytime im the charger, i get taken out in 1 hit by a baseball bat or a shotgun or something. its complete bull shit, and it hasnt changed since i got the game (last christmas). >:( Stupid valve and their stupid chargers...

    December 9, 2009 - Updated Charger hitboxes.

    So five days before this video was made (Actual charges shown here were probably BEFORE the ninth) an update fixed this up. You'd hafta wait a while for the XBox to these updates in a 'bundle'.

  • the thing that stopped your charge wasn't coach it was the spit ball valve currently has it so even projectiles like spitter vomit pipe bombs and grenade launcher shots stop chargers mid flight

  • @totalshadow0 Yeah I learned that after posting the video, but still, thats a flaw. I just played a game where 2 of my friend's death charges went through 1-2 people and missed. Then I get a charger, run through THREE people, and out the window empty handed. Just kinda grind against them until you slide past, with no grab. Hes got SEVERAL issues, and I doubt any will be fixed.

  • your rate, cmdrate, updaterate but most importantly your interp. The charger hit registration is indeed broken, but fixing your rates should help against the issue when you think you've hit but instead you've just passed through them.

  • The hitboxes are fixed for lag compensation no matter what, they always be 2 feet ahead, unlike in l4d1 where it was 2 inches ahead of the character, this includes survivors. Thats why Chargers "pass"through survivors, they pass through the model and not their hit box, only when they're standing still while a charger get a good charge off.

  • You can charge through a survivor while they're in a doorway, hallway, alley, etc. and miss. Places where there is literally no room to fit a Charger AND a Survivor, but you still run through them or curve around them. I usually slide around them instead of charge through them, it's noticeable because they effect my direction. I've ran into a survivor and curved around them so badly it ran me into a wall when I was aimed to take them off a ledge, like a 30 degree angle shift from curving on them

  • Ive notice that Jumping nulls almost everything From Tank Swings to Hunters Missing their Pounce and even Causing Spitters (The spit bounces of survivors if hit with it, if it doesnt hit the ground)

  • Lol yea another glitch with the charger is (only hacks happened once to me In vs but my friend got smoked but his character was acting as if being charged, even after we said him we could revive him but his bouncing body followed us until he died lol

  • True, but theres been plenty of times the charger (and other SI) fail to grab a survivor while they're idle. In those situations, lag wouldn't matter if they aren't moving.

  • I know its new, and I do expect bugs. I played L4D1, so trust me, I DO expect bugs. As for the charger's "week" side, he moves as a large hitbox, it has nothing to do with the realisticness of his graps. Any survivors that come in contact with any of his hitboxes is an immediate grab, regardless of where the contact was made. For example, if a survivor lands on the charger's head as hes charging, it will still grab them simply because they touched him during a charger.

  • Its bad to complane Valve for this l4d2 hitbox thing but i think they would to better stuffs in this year of technology
