  • Very good!

  • hello and don't heed the negativity, this is just the internet

  • What's with that 30 second intro? this is the internet. Who has time to watch that crap. Get to the point.

  • I liked it, she explains some of her experiences very well.

  • I have fun coming back watch this video again and again year after year. Good comments, bad comments. All I can share is: After I watched this video for the first time. I started to train for my marathon, a few years later, I ran 5 marathons, my best time is 3:52. my worse time is 5:23 (running with injury ankle. From there, I went to to do triathlon. All I need is a little inspiration from this girl. Thanks jimmycar

  • nice

  • This is a great video!

  • I have my first Half Marathon Tomorrow, And your video has helped me mentally... Thank U...

  • I run long distance only 5ks cuz anything more than 3 miles.....Fuuuuuuuuuuuck THAt!

  • @plasticorpaper Exactly FUUUUUCK That.

  • After fourteen, 545 mile bike rides from San

Francisco to Los Angeles with the ALC / AIDS Ride

Event, I have realized that life has become "routine."

Therefore [agreeing with the Oprah's Lifeclass #19] , I stepped out of the box

& threw something into the mix. I put on a pair of New Balance Minimus and began training for the San Francisco Marathon 2012.

And although running is a whole different ball game

from cycling, i'm having a FAB experience.

  • This sucks. :)

  • Anyone who can be out there for five and half hours... wtg. I am impresssed that you could keep that smile the whole time. I am also impressed with the person who kept up with you to keep videoing...

  • I love this video. I'm running my first in 2 weeks and I will watch it again before that race. Your attitude is inspirational!

  • Fantastic!

  • To even attempt a run like this you have to be someone special. grats to you.

  • i watch this video before every marathon i run! thank you, you are an inspiration!

  • Thx for the movie. It moved me.

  • Despite the reasons we run I can imagine we can agree on at least one thing, we enjoy running.

  • This video was so inspirational! You are amazing. And it's so true -- performance is completely dependent on attitude. :)

  • As one who'll run his first marathon in 2 months I admire you. Well done woman.

  • Really good video!.. Inspiring

  • nice video

  • I can't watch this, the way you're talking is just... annoying.

  • I love you for doing this, it is exactly what my thoughts was for my trail marathon, my first this year and every hill killed me but I wouldn't let my mind get in the way of them.

  • I want u to come over to a BBQ

  • Thanks so much i cant belive i cried ,,, i love hills too hahahaha

  • I lost my train of thought.

  • (cont) in spite of jealousy of your openness. Or perhaps, someone might try and take advantage of your kindness and use you for personal benefits. I have an impulse inside of me for people like you to be more gaurded. Perhaps it is because my sister is very much like you. A very beautiful, and loving, but delicate personality. And perhaps it is because I am a very gaurded, but loving person that I wish you to have a more defensive side. Someone like you might respond to this criticism (cont)

  • God damn hippie! Just kidding. You have a very interesting personality type. You are very open and expresive, and at the same time, always try to be possitive. You are smiling in every single frame captured in your run! You really have quite a yellow aura, and your love for life is strong, but I cant ignore a dark feeling in my gut that says you are the type of person to become easily hurt. If you are open with your love all the time, sooner or later someone might critisize you (cont)

  • me: mile 2: passed out in a puddle of my own vomit

  • @Svartljus . Ok Boss, You win !! if it makes you happy.

  • @prad47 lol

  • I love this video! It reminds me of when I ran my first marathon... and I love that you ran the DALLAS WHITE ROCK. That was my first Full Mar!

P.S. Runners- I posted a GIVEAWAY on running gear on my channel! Check it out if you get a chance. :-)

  • Why in the world would anyone have anything negative to say about this nice young lady participating in a marathon? It amazes me! Shame on them! In running I have come across so many people who has offered encouragement, even strangers during a race. To discourage anyone from running is not the mark of a true runner.

  • I ran a Half Marathon the other day In Darwin Australia as part of the Arafura Games. I was remembering your inspirational words and when it came to the hills I was saying to myself 'I Love Hills' and laughed and thought of you. Thanks

  • Hey there, I loved the video. I ran 40 km and then a few weeks later I ran 31 kms for way of the dove! I felt so proud, I had to learn how to read, write, walk and talk! Have an awesome day and remember " Give it your best and when that is gone, give it your all"

  • you are hot

  • Your video made me smile AND tear up. This is a major goal of mine and I loved hearing your positive mantras and seeing your wonderful smile at every milestone. Amazing.

  • Very nice video : )

Im going to run my first marathon this summer. So i will probably think about this before, during and afterwards.

    Thank you

  • i'm sorry but grandma loves hills more than you. Cool experience :D

  • running is for fags

  • i started to running so someday i will try marathan just like you!

  • Congratulations! I needed this little boost! :)

  • Comment removed

  • She looks like Denise Richards. wonderful job!

  • Congratulations, very good work, pretty video...

  • Awesome video!! I'm going to use this in my first half marathon tomorrow morning! :) Thanks!

  • Who is the girl in this video?

  • You are a total champion !!! I will use you as inspiration in my first marathon in Jul 2011.

  • @00andy069 hey when I wrote that comment I was not trying to be an asshole (and therefore, you shouldn't be trying to be one either) I have no problem with people who run marathons for fun or to be healthy, etc. That's all fine by me. I was just saying that I don't run marathons just for the sake of being healthy. I run them because they are my sport. That's all. So no need for smart ass comments.

  • I have nothing against the woman. She is still better than all those lazy people that would never even think about doing stuff like this. My whole point is that I love competative running, I would love to see our elite runners being worshipped like the athletes of those other sports people talk about all day. In america people only respect brawn and violence. Our sport isn't about that so we get looked at as exercisers or something. Long distance running isn't only about being fit.

  • Comment removed

  • @Svartljus Dude...If you so proud if what you have done, Why don't you post your own video. I will be happy to see it.

  • @prad47 I was just trying to say that I run for sport as well as for fitness. I was not trying to be cocky or arrogant. Sorry if I came off that way. there's also no need for any cocky comments in reply to what I said.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 but Ryu Running is worshipped in america. especially in cities. the thing is i think everything americans do they like to do with this BALLS TO THE WALL attitude which doesnt seem to work for running where you need to force yourself to be calm and relaxed.

so even though we love the marathon and running as a sport, we kinda go crazy

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Agree I have done MMA fighting baseball basketball ect I just got into running 8 months ago and you really have to be a good athlete to be a good runner. I wish they would show more about running on t.v and eson ect.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Before the movie Pumping Iron, wich helped Schwarzenegger begin his acting career, most people thought lifting weights was for freaks, and now look what it has become! Maybe we need to make a documentary like that about running... We could entitle it "The loneliness of the long distance runner" and use the Iron Maiden track, hahaha.

  • @Hayacafrita Isn't there a book called that already?

  • @RyuHirakashi1 i definitely agree with you. the world record in the marathon was broken yesterday and it was almost like it was no big deal. to run 26.2 miles at 4:43 pace is just unheard of. some people just dont realize how fast that actually is and that most people cant even do that pace for one mile.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Word

  • So you think she is 'better' than someone who spends their free time helping sick children instead of running?

  • This is a great video. As it is her first marathon, she is right, it is about the journey. For those who have completed lots of marathons your opinions are going to be different. Less than 1% of the worlds population have completed a marathon, so everyone who does, not matter what their time, is AMAZING.

  • Wow!!! So much hate here. I don't represent the average runner. I'm driven. Sure my time isn't the best, but there is nothing but imporvement. 3:45 is nothing but a starting point for me. I was never meant to be running in the back of the pack. If that's all most of you want to do is run then do so. I want to show off my level of ability. It's not all about just running for charity.I enjoy the competative aspect of running. That's my thing. I just feel running nowadays isn't about that anymore.

  • ahh! I Love to run and dream to staring in anyone marathon soon !

  • Hi,

I want to participate in a charity 5km run/walk which I guess could be similar to a marathon?, and have been thinking of elisting in one that is comming up. It will be my first one, so I am a bit nervous and want some advice. I'm only 16, so there will probably be alot more experienced people then me. At school I usually do 2km in around 7:49mins but am usually really tired after that. Should I join for the 5km? I don't want to embarass myself infront of everyone by being last.

  • @CantoOrigin Well, let me tell you from experience, my first ever run was a 5k, and at the time I thought it was pretty long, but it wasnt as bad as I thought. I wasnt fast, but I was happy when i finished it, remember, you don't always have to be the best, the only one you should challenge is yourself. I say, go for it, I made a mistake by quitting the sport for awhile, but now I'm back for good. Next week, im doing my first 21k :D

  • Wenn nur die blöden Kommentare nicht wären. Schöne heile Welt Gelaber.

  • Ah, what a great vid! I love how happy you looked and love your running style. Hope you run many more marathons.

  • i'll run if she'll just stop talking

  • Lets keep in mind that some of us are running marathons for the personal challenge of getting faster, some are running in tribute to other people, some just for the experience. There is no need to demean those who are just trying to finish.

  • Omg such meaningless drivel!

  • I cried. I admire your spirit. If you can do it, Maybe I can too. Keep smiling. It makes impossible things lighter to go through. when you smile the body will follow and respond to that happy hormones in the blood.

  • This video is great. A great internal dialogue of what a runner goes through during an endurance sport. I'm running my 1st marathon very soon - and this video is inspirational. Thank you for making it, thank you for running it, and thank you for your awesome vocalization of it all. Definitely a marathon is about well being, in mind and body, and as you so eloquently put it - it is about the journey - the uphill and the downhill :) :) Keep on keeping on!!! I love hills too!!

  • Woah... I would have died at Mile 7-10. Hehe, I'm not physically inclined. Nice job!

  • ur speaking as if u left it all on the road, u really didn't.

  • ez szerint a maraton a +oldás

  • good video...and good job. :)

  • Hi, Jimmycar, I watched you video 3 years ago, and then I started to train for marathon. I just finished my 3rd marathon in 3:52:12. I still love you video.

  • Get custom marathon race stickers at myracesticker(dot)com

  • Holy smokes that was cool. Has anyone seen the new marathon video, Marathon Man?

  • Great work! What kind of TOOOOOL gets on here and posts their marathon time or whatever and acts like that justifies them acting like a D-bag? Semi-competitive runners who finish in the 2:30s are the biggest jerks in the world. Take themselve way too seriously and act like elitists.

Keep up the GREAT WORK and enjoy the sport!

  • OK for one thing that is WORLD CLASS. I am not a jerk. I'm sorry I came across as a jerk. I am a good person and serve in the armed forces. I love this country and its people. This should be friendly talk. I respect anyone that can run a marathon and finish. I am a competative person and I can call myself successful because I strive to become the best in every aspect in my life even though it won't happen. Try it sometime.

  • Love the motivation, however this video and words are sooo cheesy. And for you people that think I'm a dick, DNT. I have finished 27 marathons including the Boston, New York, London, Berlin, and Chicago with times in under 2:30:00. Great expression, unecessary to post.

  • @tayl6140 Finishing 27 marathons doesn't make you any less of a dick.

  • RyuHirakashi1. Your an idiot. You talk about the competitiveness of running, and its importance, but your striving for a 3:45?? That's laughable. You justify your competitiveness by saying people don't take the sport seriously. If you took the sport seriously you would recognize the multi-faceted emotional aspects of Man vs. Body and what it takes to run a marathon. Sorry running hasn't gotten you as much respect as other athletes get, but i think thats why most of us are runners. We DON'T CARE!

  • I just want our sport to be viewed as a sport and for people to recognize that we too are competative athletes. What makes other athletes so much better than us?

  • @RyuHirakashi1 - I have not encountered many - if any - people who have not recognized marathoning as a legitimate sport. They may not understand why we do what we do, however I also don't get why someone would chase a ball around a nice pasture, or want to get drilled by a 6'6', 350 lb football player. If someone believes that other athletes are somehow superior to us, then that's their judgment, and their problem. They speak out of ignorance.

  • Good for you. I admire that. How many have you won?

  • @jimmycar hah

  • @RyuHirakashi1 - No need to apologize for not giving a damn what others think of you. You have every right to compete as intensely as you wish, and I fully support that right. If you wish to criticize others because you judge their priorities as inferior, so be it. Yet the most gifted runners I've encountered (who would us both in the dust) have never shared your viewpoint. Perhaps they need to re-think this. Or perhaps not. Either way, I hope you enjoy your journey.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 "People like this are a slap in the face to all of us who train our asses off to finish with a good time"

heres an analogy: a ten year old kid is playing football for the peewee team or whatever. is he professional? obviously not. is he having fun? hell yeah he is. anybody who runs is good for our sport. it doesnt matter how slow you are or how much you train. and nobody denies that marathon running is a sport. not here at least, so STFU

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Just because someone runs a marathon for a different reason than you does not mean that she is disrespecting the sport. Every sport is played both professionally and casually for fun or the experience. Football, basketball, soccer, tennis: they are all played by many different people for many different reasons.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 You're cool and significant.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 If we followed your thoughts, no one would be allowed to start running. If you don't like it, maybe you should find a new sport.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 I agree it is a sad time. Not for me. Just for you. Poor sad person. I love it that you see running as always competitive. Why can't you love it that I don't. You were obviously blessed with certain physical attributes that allowed you to compete. Is it any the less that the only person I wish to compete with is myself.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 just run avay. what is your problem? u last one?

  • @RyuHirakashi1

You don't understand the spirit of competition at all do you. This woman is more in tune with it than you're enlarged ego ever could, i feel sorry for you.

  • @muchlove59 I'm sorry but just because I don't run at the back of the pack doesn't mean that I don't know what I'm talking about. If this is how she enjoys running then let her. I don't look at this as some weekend hobby. I really don't care if you don't agree with me. My goals as a runner are different than her's, but she did make some excellent points. It's all about the journey. I'd rather do it at a faster pace. That's all!!

  • @RyuHirakashi1

That is fine and i commend you for constantly trying to improve yourself.

People should never crush someones elses fun and enjoyment because of their own views, imagine what would happen to marathon running if only serious runners were allowed. The london marathon for example has a couple of hundred elite/serious runners and something like 24,700 (est) fun runners. It should always be fun and accessable.

Everyone has a personal journey when doing it, and this is her journey.

  • I tried to train for a marathon in 2009. One day I set out to do a practice run. After 11 miles of jogging, I quit. The sun was bearing down on me & I couldn't handle it. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can finish 26.2 miles.

  • shes just walking slow

  • "I love hills" - this gal is SO cute. Awesome effort:)

  • Comment removed

  • you call that running?

  • @MultiSuperMegaUltra I don't know about you, but I can't handle her pace non-stop for 26.2 miles.

  • This woman makes me laugh. I don't remember seeing her run a marathon. Jog and walk, but not run. I'm running my first marathon soon enough and i will NOT accept anything more than 3:45. My eyes are on boston down the road and I refuse run slow marathons if I can help it.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Wow, way to be a jackass! A big ego will get you nowhere in life, and it won't make your marathon time any faster either.

  • @mar504 Hard work and training will my friend. Running a fast marathon takes training. Walking or Jogging a marathon doesn't.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Actually, even jogging a marathon DOES take a lot of training. Not everyone won the genetic lottery, and I know I for one would injure myself trying to even jog 26 miles with no training. Many people do these races to finish, not with a time goal in mind. There is no reason why you should put someone down for having a different goal than you.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 You're an ass.

  • @RyuHirakashi1 before talking down other peoples times remeber your own, 3:45 istn exactly something to use as a way to talk down to people, once you break 3 then you can talk but 3:45? ive seen cool downs run at a faster pace, so dont shit on others times when you cant even run faster than most runners cool downs. every1 else, keep doing wat ur doing, your fine

  • @RyuHirakashi1 Man your a dick lol, stop bagging on this woman. Slow is up to interpretation. I'm sure there are hundreds of people here that could say the exact same thing about you. 3:45 isn't fast either, I ran my first in 2:58 and I would love to go even quicker, but even that is shit compared to others. If your going to come onto somone elses video and talk shit about them, expect it back.

  • Porque se detiene a platicar pos que no esta en una carrera?

  • Felicitaciones desde España. Awesome!

  • I disagree on the walking part. When I did my first marathon I injured my foot, by mile 9 it felt really painful but I did not want to walk at all. In order to be truly successful in a marathon you have to tough it out.

  • I#m going to run my first marathon on 31 oct this year......in germany (frankfurt am main) and I#m a little bit frightened because i am only 18 and there are so many clips on youtube which show what kind bad things can happen....but it is my dream and i will do it :) nice video ^^

  • Please please please. You have got to listen to Richard Green - Running through New York . Breast cancer charity song.

  • pfft, Marathon pro much?

  • I find it funny that pseudo elite runners make fun of or look down on those who do not have the talent they do....you see.....I am a 244 bodybuilder.....I am built like a freight train.....and I ran a marathon....3 halfs....12 10Ks.....30+ 5Ks.....all in 16 months.......so I dare one elite runner (who weighs about as much as my foot) down grade my 26 min 5K....my 59 min 10K...my 2:20 Half....and 5 Hour full.....I would own you in ways where your family would shun you.....you can't do what I do..

  • @srhggns4au : That's what a normal good runner, not elite, runs during a year. There are good runners in USA that runs 2 marathons per year, easily 3 halves for tuning, 16, 20 and 18 milers for tuning, 10K's and 5K's are ran during training and calendar races. During training normal runners have intervals of 5K's. Plus you need to add that these normal runners add minimum 60 miles per week. There are normal runners that run another 6 miles same day of a 10K. 3m-10K-3m warm up and cool down.

  • @srhggns4au : I would even recommend you to not run marathons with your weight and body, you are going to get hurt and your knees will cry so what you are going to own is a major surgery and soon you won't even lift a 45 pound disc in a squat. Better keep lifting weights and just run 15 minutes to warm up and cool down cause your weight is too much or you can impress some ladies in the park by running some loops, don't get injured yourself, I mean, don't try that at home.

  • I'm training for my first marathon, I hope I'll have enough motivation not to stop.

  • You will do it! Just don't give up and think positive+

  • After reading some of these posts let me tell the average runner to ignore these elitist wannabe idiots. Maybe they can hold a sub 5 minute mile for a marathon! Can they compete in the NBA, NFL, MLB or any other professional sport? Probably not. And more than likely they can't even hold a sub 7:00 for 26.2. It's a great video. Enjoy your running everyone and ignore the idiotic posts of the trolls on youtube.

  • GO TEAM!!!

  • Wait Did you do Team in Training? My Mom and sister did Team in Training together... It was amazing. They did it because My brother has cancer... and he has been diagnosed twice... But If you are in team in training, it's just your jersey looked like Team in Training, like the ones my parents had.

  • Most people can't even walk a mile.

  • @83ls who the fuck cant walk a mile. I dont know where you come from because im pretty sure 300 pound people can walk a mile.

  • Comment removed

  • To continue my last comment...I have a different viewpoint on time with running. Time to me does matter. I don't care about getting anything close to a 4 or 5 min/mile average but I want to average a 10 min/mile or better for a distance run, to me if I can't do that I'm not challenging myself so what's the point?

  • @jpete3027666 Time matters to YOU.....I am a 6'1" 244 lb former champion body builder....41 y/o.....I ran a 59 10K..a 5 hour marathon......for someone carrying my load...i;ll take it........

  • @srhggns4au I'm 6'4", 240. I ran a 4:19 last January in Houston and I'm set to break 4 in Chicago next month. Time absolutely does matter. The point of running a marathon is to challenge yourself. If you're not out there to run a good race and set a PR then what's the point??? Don't rationalize a time you're obviously not happy with, train harder and improve.

  • @tharock220 Thats great....happy for you......I am hoping to improve my times.....but I am not an elite runner....I am a power lifter who runs.....I like to run races as it keeps my BF% down around 8%....and it is a challenge to run a marathon at my size....and my age....I hope to break 4:30 at NYC.....and so on and so on....my point is to NEVER downplay the achievements of others for any reason...its like me ragging on someone who can't bench 450..i never siad I did not strive for improvement

  • @srhggns4au 99.999% of us aren't elite runners. I'm glad you're running, but time does matter, and it's good you want to improve. Time absolutely matters, and I get annoyed when I'm running at the sight of walkers who just want to finish. That's why I reacted the way I did. Marathons fill up, and people who don't care about their time just take up bibs from dedicated runners. I would never criticize someone for being slower than me though, so I understand what you're saying now.

  • @tharock220 btw.....i just started running less than a year ago

  • I got into running about a year ago and it's addicting. I eventually worked my way up to 5 miles, getting over and surpassing my mind's self-imposed limitations each time. I finished my first 10k in 58 minutes last weekend. It's amazing the thoughts going through my mind while running, many of the thoughts are exactly like yours. It's ALL about mind over matter. It's an amazing feeling of accomplishment to push yourself above and beyond what you thought you were capable of, it's amazing.

  • what time 12hours or something, crazy ankles

  • This video is a great inspiration I will be putting on my site! My runner will love the motivation you give!

  • This is a great video and I will put this on my site for inspiration for others. You are a great motivator!

  • thats really cool and inspirational! i am running my first marathon in june 12th.. and if i see a hill.. i am going to love it! Thank you!

  • You have my respect! Well done young lady! Well done!

  • I your name really Jim?

  • Oh my! Inspirational!!!!! I live this video! This is what YouTube was made for!!!

  • What's wrong with your ankles?

  • Loved it! Thanks for the inspiration. I only started running last September. My dream is to run a marathon when the time is right. I loved the way you've put a marathon into words! Great job!

  • blah blah blah blah... lol

  • Loved your video!!

  • First Marathon coming up this Sunday,...thanks

  • This young lady obviously views marathoning as a stunt and not a sport ...

  • Is this the OK Memorial Marathon? I'm running my first 1/2 in less than a week! :) Love this video

  • I'm running my first marathon (and race) on May first in Champaign, Illinois! This got me so excited! Thanks!

  • You smile throughout the entire run! Great job!

  • If you have great health you can run a marathon with as little as two weeks training!

  • @RB902050 I don't know about that.

  • Hi, great video!

I'm starting my training for the NY Marathon and have also started a blog. Check it out if you like! And keep going!!!!!x

  • wow, great video. i wish we can be running buddies. But i live in the Philippines, very far from the US. Happy running always! Be careful though when you're out there on the roads or a highway. :-))

  • Cool video, the mental aspect is huge!! Running my first half marathon on Sunday. Next year a full I hope.

  • Very nice video, you do look alittle too happy throughout the entire run but wont hold that against you (lol) it certainly brings out your flair. For me running has always been about time, distance and speed so your video is very relaxing, refreshing and inspiring. Thanks!

  • wow that is inspiring. all smiles until the fininsh line.

  • I first saw this video two years ago, this video inspire me to start running, I just finished my second Honolulu marathon in Dec. 13, 2009. And I will train for 2010 again.

  • she wasn't breathing hard after the hill because she wasn't running!!! ha ha

  • Great video. I can't believe all the smiles mile after mile, even after 26.2 very l o n g miles to the finish line. Way to go!

  • Inspiring
