I was glad that I watched this deep anime. I was even happier that Le chevalier d'Eon was actually based from a true story. It's got an intricate mix of history and fantasy. The twists were PHENOMENAL!

Animes usually are like fight over human capacity but in this one , ambiented a few years ago of the France revolution (lady oscar) , are only magic arts that don't destroy like a building in one shoot (DBZ) and it's perfectly combinated with drammatic . In other words , it's fantastic! :)

yes...d'eon is possessed by Lia in the last ep. but then after he takes her body and burns it so that her soul can rest in peace, d'eon himself does become a girl.

The real chevalier d'eon in french history (whom this d'eon is modeled after) also lived half his life as a man and the second half as a woman.

so based upon that, d'eon (in the anime) lives the second half of his life as a woman.

This is not based entirely on real events but rather loosely based on D'Eon de Beaumont's life; particularly his visit to Russia and his dealings with the King of France. I have read a book with numerous people including Voltaire talking about him.

It is only loosely based on Chevalier D'Eon`s life. All the characters are real people except for Lia, Robin, Durand and Tealligory. Robespierre was real, Louis XV was real, Pompadour was real and so forth.

This anime may get people into studying French history, eh? Specifically the days of the Revolution which, though meant for France alone, shook the world.
