These cuts in funding will be devastating to all who receive the pell grant. In order to bring more awareness to this issue I would love to hear some stories as to how the pell grant has helped individuals and what it means to you. Higher expectation for students (K-12), better teachers, and tracking the progress of individual students are a must. Can we really accept high schools in the States with drop-out rates of 50%? These schools need to change- if not the teachers and staff, at least the culture of "just passing." I am glad Obama and his WH staff are working at this issue.

I received 5500 worth in Pell Grants, 6,500 in federal loans, I still have 30,000 dollars to go! I did receive scholarships but not near my tuition cost. The information given is too broad. Yes i went to community college to save costs, but for my final two years I'm facing 80,000 dollars in tuition to go to a descent school. Yes I got a Pell grant and loans were offered but with everything said I will likely be graduating with 50,000 in debt. Grad School from here looks like a pipe dream.

Further honesty would reveal you either have no idea of the inherent damage this arrangement will have on education and the ability to pay the inevitable price rises in tuition in the future. No need to explain itself in those terms. It is the terms that lead to my conclusion. This Bill puts hard limits on payment amounts and then limits how long one needs to pay on the loan to 10yrs. When the payments over 10yrs don't add up to the Principal then the balance is transferred to gov. Now taxpayers get to fund your repayment schedule. I think they call it socialized education. I merely suggest you pay for your own education. I didn't call you a bum, but if the shoe fits...
