I must say, The Hungarian underground lake scene looks very much like the real thing in the paris opera house! (not as good as candelabras rising from the stage, but...) anyone agree?
I assume he is neither Zsolt Homonnay nor Zoltán Miller but he is Attila Csengery. As far as I know Zsolt Homonnay did not play in the musical by Madách Theatre. He is the actor of Operett Theatre.
The Phantom in this audio is Zoltán Miller, I know this because I got this recording from his website. Homonnay Zsolt has played Raoul but not the Phantom.
It's ok, I don't believe in apologising when someone is wrong in an argument anyway. I suppose that you can't really call it an argument, just a discussion, I could have been proved wrong as well.
Well, he actually sings Raoul, too, and I think he is more fitting for that role. Technically, this is not a bad version, but I, too, prefer the Phantom's voice to be deeper and more "aged" and seductive. Try listening to versions where Sándor Sasvári or Attila Csengeri sing the Phantom.
I'm sorry, I only have this. Your lucky I could reply, I'm on holiday in America from the UK and I'm in Niagara Falls for the weekend and there's free internet in the motel.
oh, it was fantastic!!! it's not a replica show, but a totally unique performance with great singers (actors/actresses). very spectacular and I enjoyed it very much! and I was very happy because I had wanted Andi and Zoli playing the main roles :) they are the best!
there was the auction in the prologue just like in the film. of course the chandelier doesn't go up over the audience, but it would be exciting :D the chandelier fell at the end of the Reprise (end of Act 1), and there were big lights and big noises in this scene. the phantom laughed as well :) the actress who was playing Carlotta called Erzsébet Pelle, she was fantastic!
Ezt a dalt nem Csengeri Attila énekli. :-) Szerintem Miller Zoli a Fantom.

I know Zsolt's voice and I really think that it's he who sings, but I wouldn't like to argue and I don't say I can't be wrong...

I got this audio off Zoltán Miller's website so I assume that it would be him if it's off his website.
davidphantomoftheope 2 years ago
Whatever you say, it's not Miller singing, it's Homonnay :) I'm sure of it. and their voices are not similar...
I like both of them, though :)
zimfaye 2 years ago
How can you say that when Homonnay doesn't even play the Phantom.
davidphantomoftheope 2 years ago
good singing... but the phantom sounds too feminine and high tenorish..He's supposed to sound more dark, deep, evil and seductive
Besides tht great job

Actually, The Phantom is a tenor part. there have been baritones who have played it, but they all had a higher baritone range. It's a tenor part.

I enjoy this version!
But am I right - Miller couldn't sing this note: "A fAntom, ez a titokzatos lény rég benned él". Or it's all about the quality of sound?

Álmomban megjelent egy furcsa árny.
Hallottam énekét, hívó szavát.
Tán most is álmodom, mert érzem én,
a fantom, ez a titokzatos lény rég bennem él.
Jöjj hát, és énekelj, így kell legyen!
Énhozzám tartozol, egy vagy velem.
Nem küzdhetsz ellenem, mert hív az éj!
A fantom, ez a titokzatos lény rég benned él.
kicskacsa 4 years ago
Ki arcod látta már fél, míg csak él,
Álarcod én leszek! -És hangod én!
Lelkeddel egybeforr és szárnyra kél,
a fantom, ez a titokzatos lény rég bennem/benned él.
Vigyázz, a fantom újra ittjár!
Fuss hát, a fantom újra ittjár!
Tudtad, hogy színigaz, mit álmodtál,
eljő egy éjszakán! -És rám talál.
Sejtelmes látomás, kit rejt a mély,
a fantom, ez a titokzatos lény rég bennem/benned él.
kicskacsa 4 years ago
Itt él, rég bennem él a fantom!
Énekelj, ó, angyala a zenémnek!
Énekelj!
Énekelj nekem!
Énekelj, angyal!

Does anyone have vids of him? Please I have to hear again!

Why does the set look different?

It's a non replica version as in not the same as the original production.
davidphantomoftheope 4 years ago
@MasqueradedMatt because it couldn't fit into the theater so Andrew Lloyd accepted some changes in the set...

What happens in the prologue and overture? The chandelier doesn't go up over the audience does it. And who was playing Carlotta?
