  • Isne that too much butter?

  • Hi Betty, nice recipe, i'm not too comfortable using vanilla extract, can i use vanilla powder or is there any other substitues you would suggest.

  • @crazybrain007 Vanilla powder is fine.

    --Betty :)

  • Is your crystal white syurp just like a karo syurp dont think we have the other here on the west coast

  • @Carballoca Yes, Karo syrup will have the same effect.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi betty, I was wondering.. can honey always be subsituted in cooking/baking for corn syrup? I always use honey in granola bars and things like that..but could I use it for this? Also (i forgot which) but some recipies use corn syrup, like brittle. can i use honey then too? -thx!

  • @thelaurenator3008 I have substituted honey for corn syrup in many of my recipes with good results.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty we use this recipe for my mom anniversary and made her a card thanks very much

  • The beginning of your recipe gave me a great idea for some peanut butter ice cream sauce. I just recently made dark choc hot fudge sauce and an apple strawberry syrup. Just used the apples to thicken the syrup you really can't taste. I have many friends who are crazy about peanut butter so another ice cream sauce to my collection. By the way I could see your math skills kick in with the directions how to cut. That was cute.

  • @KissHope I have a peanut butter sauce that I use in bettyskitchen; I used it to make a peanut butter sundae and also for a peanut butter milkshake--so much better than just adding peanut butter alone! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

Thanks for letting me know Betty, I will certainly look for it. My peanut days are over unfortunately which I love in anything. Seems diverticulosis and peanuts don't go together, nor does peanut butter for me. Sure do miss them. lol

  • @KissHope I'm sorry to hear that you can't have peanuts or peanut butter--they taste so good in desserts!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks Betty. Indeed they taste great in so many different dishes. Hope you and Rick are surviving the heat, looks to be a very hot summer.

  • I don't know if you have white syrup here in Norway. Is there anything I could use instead? :) Corn syrup perhaps?

  • @imle0is0me Corn syrup will be fine in this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • I like the fact the you are not afraid to use low fat, or reduce sugar.......

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty! Tempting recipe ;-)

Your measure-cups look bigger than mine?! How many ml or fl oz do they hold?

    Thanks!!

  • @missjaysesteem A 1-cup measuring cup holds 8 fluid ounces.

    --Betty :)

  • Interesting! Now, I'm wondering if agave nectar and various other nut butter varieties (almond, pecan, or even hazelnut butters) would make good substitutes for corn syrup/white syrup and peanut butter (respectively.

Here's another purely decorative idea.... melting semi-sweet chocolate (or even white chocolate) chips and drizzling it over the squares (after having removed them from the pan).

  • @rkmugen You might be able to make those substitutions, but I haven't tried them myself. The melted chocolate drizzled over the tops sounds wonderful!

    --Betty :)

  • thank you betty my family loved it :* <3

  • @dody1998 Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • keep the peanut better stuff comeing

  • Who eats all of these dishes/treats that you make everyday?? are you sharing with neighbors/coworkers?? lol just wondering :)

  • @TheLipzShow We share with our daughter's family, and our son-in-law takes leftover sweets to work and shares them with co-workers.

    --Betty :)

  • Yumm I have to make them next weeks for my daughters birthday party. Thanks Betty.

  • Betty! It's crazyyyy I JUST MADE this exact recipe and thought no one knew about it! I used just corn syrup and sugar boiled with corn flakes and peanut butter, just last week! awesome :)

  • Mmm I definely want to try these out for sure, they look so easy to make :)

  • Would this work with splenda or truvia?

  • @bethdiy Yes, the sugar may be substituted with splenda or truvia.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I was wondering if you could do some Spa foods? Like cucumber water or little tea sandwiches.

  • That look so wonderful and easy to make the chocolate in the cereal you used probably would add an extra flavor to it!! Thank you for sharing Betty.:-)

  • Is the white syrup the equivalent of corn syrup?

  • @Robind0514 They're not exactly the same, but either will work in this recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • Looks yummy.

  • amazing

  • Awesome, I've done this before with Frosted Flakes and this is how I make Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Treats!!!!

  • Ah, golden syrup! Thanks atticus9799 and Monicasdestiny! Can you answer another of my English questions for me then, please? What is the weight equivalent to one of your sticks of butter? Ounces or grams - either is fine by me! Thanks :o)

  • Do you know an alternative for the white syrup?

  • @kwelgirl15 You may use Karo's light syrup.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, do you think this would work with a gluten free cereal such as Chex?

  • @DebMorganPD Hi Deb! Yes, it will work with any cereal that can be mixed with a candy sauce.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty do you have a recipe for the chocolate to dip strawberries in? I want to make some for valentines day.

  • @Monicasdestiny Here is a little quick tip that I posted on dipping strawberries into white chocolate;:

    youtube.com/watch?v=M6cuAxTVg4g

I haven't posted a "recipe" for dipping chocolate, but I usually just melt dark chocolate and dip the strawberries, and let them set up on waxed paper.

    --Betty :)

  • Oh, those look so good! I thought of granola for the cereal, but I am not sure how well that would hold the squared together, but I can always try it. :)

  • @christineshires I think granola would be wonderful for the cereal.

    --Betty :)

  • Oh Yum Betty another tasty snack with nuts in. I would love to eat a square of this. I will have to ask my daughter to make some. Thanks for sharing another delicious recipe....Richard(UK)...;-)

  • @richardpeej Thanks for your lovely comment, Richard! I have been trying to get some snacks ready for our (American) football game of the year--the Super Bowl. I will be doing a Super Bowl Spread on Saturday. I hope you enjoy this recipe,

    --Betty :)

  • This looks great Betty! I bet this would be great with Nutella instead of peanut butter, too!

  • @sweetcharade518 I think Nutella would be great!

    --Betty :)

  • looks good

  • looks great

    but i m avoiding carbs

maybe i can eat that stuff again someday

    love your cooking

  • MMM, chocolate in that peanut butter treat. ^^

  • Hi Betty

What would be the equivalent to the white/corn syrup that I could find in English supermarkets? Thanks, Liz :o)

  • @graciebobbles You could use Lyles Golden Syrup for a similar result.

  • @graciebobbles Your Golden Syrup is the equivalent to our corn syrup....golden would make this treat outragously good.

  • Would that b the same as corn syrup? Thnk you..

  • @nkr1695 Yes, you may use Karo's light corn syrup
