I agree about the toms on this kit. I tried the Dominions at a local store, I was really drawn to their sound.

The kick doesn't sound dramatic in this video, but holy carap, it sounded like a 16ga shotgun when I tried them, that was with only firm velocity, not slamming. A real giggle.

I just bought this kit and it is awesome!! The drums come with a high Tom holder, the 20x20 bass drum is soo loud! It's unreal.

Such a nice sound from every single drum.

I never got a chance to play it in person I just had to rely on reviews and videos. All of which amazed... Im just curious, how sturdy is the mount on that rack tom (or whatever you call it since its not on a rack but it is mounted) i noticed it jigled quite a bit which is to be expected but you dont think it might fall down on the bass drum do you?

I have this kit and LOVE it. The stock heads aren't the best by any means, but get some good heads on there and it's very warm. I recommend Evans EC2 Edge. Also, get a mic hole on the bass drum head to give it that extra boom. All in all though best kit out there for the money!

Drum triggers are electronic triggers that are clamped on the rim of the drum, and the sensor rests on the head. Each time the head is struck, the sensor sends the signal to a sound module (of your choice). The Alesis DM5 module is popular.

Who has Eric Baltrinic played with? He's really good. Man oh man! The ash was banging!!! God, I really have a hard time choosing now. The Ash is more resonant & powerful, but that maple kit is rockin' too. I own a Rogers maple kit right now from the Brook Mays era. The ash kit sounds a lot like it. I never new a 12"X16" floor tom could sound so deep. I guess I just have to choose which finish I want. The Tequila in the Maple wood or Blueburst in the Ash wood. Hm, desicions desicions desicions...

I have to say, the ash kit was much more "alive". It does completely depend on what you're shooting for but, the ash kit would definitely cut through the mix a little stronger than the maple.
