I just love this. Every aspect of it. What wonderful supportive parents ..... and it shows how a normal (and to some people boring) background can produce something exceptional. It isn't always necessary to go through absinthe-fuelled angst.
I can understand Kate turning her West Country home into a fortress as let's face it, her fans are the sort that would try anything to see her. It is interesting that only across the border in Cornwall Tori Amos also has her clifftop retreat: I wonder how much security she has from her equally obsessive fans !
@janknuckey Tori Amos has a hse in England? What's left of the Jacksons was looking for a big gaff in the west country as well but it was too expensive. Croydon and Luton was what they could afford so in the end they returned to Monaco.

In this clip you get a real atmosphere of the place she grew up in, all that great supportive family, the trees, the house, the birdsong, a place to grow up in and be nurtured. She didn't let them down.

I lived on KFC for one and a half weeks, lying on my back soldering away underneath a propped up one ton tape machine. I look back and laugh. :o)

Its funny, this sort of reflects how she lives , very ope. My Girlfriend grew up in the same town as Kate, and she still visits her parents there regularly. She says that not a day goes by that she doesnt see Kate in the Grocery Store, or in the Pub, walking down the street...or whatever. To the Townspeople shes just Kate...not a international star. Can you imagine anyone trying to live that way in California?
Is it intrusive? Parents talking proudly about their daughter who'd become a public figure? Surely the family thought long and hard before letting the cameras in?

Ys, but the fact is, Kate Bush has and wlays will remain a private person. She has sensibly kept herself away from the celebrity status. She said it herself in an interview

Ms Bush herself has expressed many times that she does not see herself as a celbrity, and that she doesn't really like the fan aspect. I don't blame her.
Having grown up in a semi-public way (of a different sort, but still high profile in my community) I know how it feels to have to "put on the brave face" and do things for the good of the name.
I had to do so many things I really disliked, and sometimes disagreed with on an ethical level, but went ahead and did anyway, because it was expected of me.
Thankfully for the woman's own sake, she did the smart thing and didn't allow too much of her private life to be displayed to the public.
I did refer to her father with his title, as she always did.
I wasn't pretending to know anyone - I'm just intrigued as to how a (reasonably) ordinary family produced such a talent - any disrespect was purely accidental.

Is there any more footage to this interview section? Any chance of uploading the entire documentary? Hearing and seeing Dr Bush for the first time was a revelation and indicated just how strong his energy and inspiration must have been to have influenced the speech patterns and personalities of all three of his children in such an indivual yet smiliar way.
Kate's family are clearly a talented bunch. The mother was an interpretative folk dancer. Not to mention The Red Shoes was both the breakup of Del Palmer and the death of her mother. Not to mention Kate always invites some of her brothers to the studio. That's clearly a talented family, though Kate must have the shining light of it all.
Yes, she has a slight "Life of Brian" speech defect - "be wunnin up that woad, be wunnin up that hill" - which I always found quite sexy. I see now she gets that from her dad.

Lol. She looks embarressed, in the way that only parents can embarress their children. Her brothers are to the right of her. Yes she looks uncomfortable with the interview, but then she always does.
There is no more to this interview with her parents, it's part of a larger documentary on her and this is only part featuring her family.
RIP Dr Robert Bush who died a week before Kate's 50th birthday last year.

Poor kate looks Awkward in her body language.. But bare in mind she is only just at the end of her teens there, maybe 20 or so. So whilst she can 'get in role' on a stage etc.. She's still not long past being a teen in this clip.

I know this singer because my mum was a fan. As so in many families with an artist it's usual that one parent disagrees first with the career. It sounds silly but look at 0:38. Can you see the face of Kate when her mother is talking? I think it could be suspect but I don't know. I could be wrong, too...

I really don't know where you are getting that assumption. My "hit and run" comment wasn't anywhere near your comments, nor was it hit or run. It was a genuine question. It was to Grossberger XXX's observation about Kate's "deprived childhood". Go read it yourself and see if you don't ask the same question I did. I've yet to receive an answer for him,BTW. For the record, I don't your see your requests and observations here as sarcasm at all.

Is there any more footage to this interview section? Any chance of uploading the entire documentary? Hearing and seeing Dr Bush for the first time was a revelation and indicated just how strong his energy and inspiration must have been to have influenced the speech patterns and personalities of all three of his children in such an indivual yet smiliar way.

Kate's family are clearly a talented bunch. The mother was an interpretative folk dancer. Not to mention The Red Shoes was both the breakup of Del Palmer and the death of her mother. Not to mention Kate always invites some of her brothers to the studio. That's clearly a talented family, though Kate must have the shining light of it all.

Yes, she has a slight "Life of Brian" speech defect - "be wunnin up that woad, be wunnin up that hill" - which I always found quite sexy. I see now she gets that from her dad.

I love Kate! Yes, SpankRamen I would have to agree. Kate is definitely a cut above the rest. Her mother is Irish. The song Moments of pleasure is actually written for her mother, who passed away during the time.
