  • "Gina, baby, I don't have no money. I don't have no ends. Gina, I'm ass-out. I'm going through something right now. I told you that" - Martin Lawrence

  • CRACK!

  • @thesickestvendetta all their music is good and recommended! but i would start with my personal favorite, 'stay cool', 'the seed 2.0', one of their more popular songs, 'now or never' is amazing, and so is 'one time'. 'i will not apologize', 'birthday girl', of course 'how i got over'. 'guns are drawn', 'why whats goin on?'. so much. enjoy!

  • @nicolemrn1 Thanks! I'll check them out when I get a bit of time!

  • Yo, can anyone recommend me some other good songs by The Roots? I'm liking this song after hearing the song on P&P, sounds like the rest of their music will be good

  • @TheSickestVendetta Honestly, their whole catalogue is gold... If u like this, Listen to "Break You Off"; "You Got Me"; "Water"; "What They Do"; "Dear God 2.0"; etc... But honestly, If u like this, get the Game Theory album, undun, How I Got Over, Things Fall Apart, Illadelph Halflife... For real though, all of their albums are at least Great to Classic hip-hop. I think any REAL hip-hop fan can say that.

  • @brionthelion Thanks bro - I'll check all of those tunes out

  • how is this only 107000 views?

  • I think black thought still killed this.

  • Guilty by association. STORY OF MY LIFE NIGGA. :)

  • po prostu <3.

  • That beat at the end is straight fire. Anyone got the name?

  • desmond?

  • @spidakid72 What up! Haha.

  • But The Roots are still fire.

  • PUSSY AND PATRON MAKE YOU FEEL ALRIGHT.

  • i can remenber

just remenber something like the first time where i bought it

    ...pssst

  • one of my all time favourites the beat, flow, lyrics, everything :)

  • @Losx03 yeh, everything was just right. the beat is soulful, smooth. The lyrics very meaningful, can relate to what he's saying. And his flow was melady driven that you'll be boping your head has he's rapping.

  • I like the Pharcyde reference in this song.

"Can't depend on on friends to help you in a squeeze, please the got problems of they're own."

  • oh so thats were kendrick got the beat

  • "Cause I'm doing better now, don't mean i never lost shit...i was married to a state of mind and i divorced it..."

  • most underrated in all of hip hop period. I have all their albums as do the other 499,999 people who love the roots.

  • Black Thought is the most underrated MC ever! Alwayz been harder than Gay Z!!!

  • @cnycewitit003 The Roots have a great deal of respect for Jay-Z. Guess who did his music for his Unplugged Album? Jay is a true MC.

  • @chosenxeno good joke jay z is a business man not a rapper i could name 30 rappers at least wayyy better than jayz his only good album was reasonable doubt and even then its still overrated plus hes a sellout bitch

  • @chosenxeno That may be so, but speaking as a former Jay-Z fan this cat is a sell out. He makes music for the illuminati. I am not naiive in any sense of the word and can decipher a puzzle given enough pieces. Most mainstream artists have sold their souls and may not really know what they're getting into. I don't believe Black Thought has gone that route..Jay-z knows what he's doing. If you don't believe me, look it up..His symbolism in videos and the hidden messages behind his lyrics are crazy!

  • Pushin' in my mama's van

    Stopped for gas on Rosecrans

Trust me, these niggas rushed me for something my cousin probably did!

    Guilty by association

    STORY OF MY LIFE

    NIGGA.

  • Mercedes Martinez of The Jazzyfatnastees!

  • 496 likes, 1 dislike. Need I say more?

  • @baladeva555 And according to the person that disliked it, he disliked it on accident. So technically, it's 503 likes, 0 dislikes. Haha. That's almost unheard of...

  • @rokaij0991 Haha. Glad I could be of help.

  • this is real music

  • This song greally reminds you of the important things in life, like friends and family. I love being alone but I really need help from friends when I feel like shit. Don`t be stupid and treat your loved ones right and truthfully. We are all human, just because you do something special does not mean you are better than the whole world.

  • Shout out to Kendrick Lamar..

  • Thumbs up if you're under 25 and you appreciate good music

  • anyone know the end song?????????

  • God the Roots are beyond slept on by mainstream fans.....this is too dope

  • is this a bit sped up?

  • @anarkie I don't believe so. The audio portion was ripped straight from the album. I guess it's possible that the program altered the audio file a bit. I don't hear it though.

  • @deslarue maybe i just remember it a bit slower.i think its fine.

  • this hook ...i only fuck w/ a selected few in my circle n even then i cant seem to trust half them mufuckas at times. i seen ppl try to come in good terms w/ me again n again, but im always writing em off like they aint shit to me.. idk how i developed this distrust for ppl but hey, i was born in this world alone ima leave it just tha same.

  • maaan when i first heard this son my eyes welled up with tears

  • Dis a powerful track

  • I am convinced that this is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Their music is so good.

  • Why cant all Hip Hop be created with such integrity and class as this, Why cant all Hip Hop provoke the same kind of relevant thoughts and dwell on similar topics as this. Why is it Hip Hop has changed in to a face so unrecognizable by its creators :(

  • ~ Clock with no Hands Instrumental !!

Check my channel for other dope and hard-to-find beats !

    watch?v=BrymdB8etko

  • Kendrick Lamar did good by this beat. I'm glad I found the original song.

  • People think that I'm crazy, just cause I wanna be alone, ya can't depend on friends to help you when it sways, we all deal wit sh-- on our own, and sometimes the beef grows, yeah you know it gets full-blown, I never said you mean the world to me, maybe its best that you never known me. • This just show's the wisdom, and the true art form of music. We are more than just violence, drugs, and gansters. Not knockin other artist, get your money, but lets get back to the true meaning of Hip Hop. A message and a vibe everyone can relate to and come together. For my people Common, Talib, The Roots, Mos Def, along with our sistas, Jill Scott, Ms. Badu represent true music and power. Peace.

  • one of my favorite roots songs

  • classic

  • I dont even know what to post about these guys. I fucks with the roots.

  • its my first time hearing this. thank you so much.

  • This makes me tear up everytime. "The sky was overcast, when I was sober last." That phrase alone has affected my life more than any politican, teacher, parent, anything; that line shows experience. This EXCEEDS Hip-Hop, it's lyrical POETRY.

  • wow i like that its hardcore and lyrical too another great job for the roots

  • This song reminds me of the Philippines, all because it represented my vibe that i had there . I live in the states(but i am Filipino), but me and my family took a trip there last January. Away from my friends i felt so alone. Remembering back at my ex-friends i felt so ignorant and inconsiderate. And listening to this song made me realize how much of a better person i can be. On the Airplane, 12 hour flight. This song looped up the whole flight(battery dead!). Total & Pure Meditation. [H.E.R]

  • This music makes me Horny for Hip-Hop. This is like lust in my EARS!!!

  • i cant believe that masterpieces like this are wasted ,cuz rappers like Drake and Gucci mane get the shyne, man that shit aint fair.and even the real hip hop fans are not plenty enough 2 support this

  • @RaineR3313 1st of drake & gucci mane r 2 totally differnt types of rappers. 2nd does it make u feel btr to insult an artist just to compliment this one. watch this "roots are so dope this song is real deep and touches me" hmm wow thats a great compliment and doesnt need to hate on some irrelevant artists to the conversation.

  • @rayallen0 word

  • @evilgenius151 How is crying gay? someone has some repressed homosexual urges huh

  • @HipHopPolooza

if they pretend to be straight when they know they're really a sissy...

    see what im sayin

and what you said doesn't make sense. callin me a closet homo for callin another mothafucka a homo is lame. Hahaa! ...fuck outta here

  • @evilgenius151 Well for starters crying is a biological occurance so equating that it with being gay is not only ignorant its just asinine, secondly its often that a closet homosexual will repress and even insult the lifestyle so it makes perfect sense I feel sorry for you living life with such a ignorant world veiw

  • @HipHopPolooza

I like how you missed the whole point of the comment that made you feel like you had to say something.

"often that a closet homosexual will repress and even insult the lifestyle so it makes perfect sense" I didnt know you were a sexologist. where did you get your md??

  • I just realized that black thought is the true king of philly, and maybe of the G.O.A.T's; well at least he belongs on the list. Real talk.

  • Game TYheory is a classic

  • this is one of the best Roots tracks. I love this album.

  • @ThatManOverThere

Reminds me of the friends who became haters ... had no choice but to tell em to bounce

  • @ThatManOverThere fuck them niggas...i had to do the same

if you are growing some dont want to grow and some even want to

hinder you from growing...cut their asses off...its sad but you will

sink fucking with niggas who almost refuse to grow. I got in a fight

with my cousin over that shit....we are grown men slim

aint shit cute about staying on a boys level no matter how many

of these stagnant ass niggas stay stuck on stupid.

blaze a blunt with em now and then but keep it movin

    gotta grow!!

  • @DoomCity202

    I felt that my brother.

  • @DoomCity202 TRUTHHHH

  • The whole message in this song is about growth & growing out of dear friends.

    This is real shit.

The Roots are a grown ass man band...none of that silly teenaged shit which is

why Def Jam had problems promoting them...Def Jam artist are stagnant minds

niggas who talk about the same common shit...As you know many of these niggs

think growth is Lame which is why u-c grown ass men looking acting walking

    talking saggin like fucking teenagers.

This is what hip hop is supposed 2b nurturing .

  • @ThatManOverThere
