  • rachmaninoff and cohen. beautiful.

  • She is still the last US women to win an olympic medal. She is just amazing!!

  • She was 15 years old. She was born in the year 1984.

    So, 1999-1989=15

  • Wow! She was like 14 back then!

  • she is just incredible even then to me she is the queen of ice lol:)

  • how old was she?!

  • @GreatFangirlMizu She made her senior debut the following year at fifteen, so she would have been fourteen here. Lord, she was tiny for her age.

  • awww.. thats so cute and sweet

  • Oh my god! what a rare program! thank you Tacy80sgirl!!!

  • simply phenomenal. This performance is worthy of a senior win... today.

  • @pattys87 ITA.

  • Her elegance and artistry are amazing for the junior level!

  • Even then you could see that she has so much potential :D

  • omg all the empty seats! o:

  • @xfigureskating That's not unusual at the lower levels. Although even at the senior level sadly there are more and more empty seats.

  • Sasha was such a phenomenal skating talent. Even at such an early age, her special qualities shone through.

  • Stunning performance. Despite her never reaching her topmost goals due to her loss of concentration in her longs, her pace, style and grace are amazing, and those positions! Even though they're not as stretched as later in her career I actually prefer her line here and in the 2000 nationals, it's softer almost. I just think she has done so much for the sport and every time I watch her it makes me want to get out there and keep practising, she's such an inspiration. Thank you Sasha.

  • Sasha grew in a few short years to be the most inspiring and talented skater of the new millennium. She knows the meaning of choreography and how to move within the structure of the music. Her artistry is unmatched. Her technique was phenomenal even with the occasional mishap. She oozes talent and skill and pushed the sport forward more than any other skater in modern history.

  • @TinyAva93....I actually ONLY logged on after reading your comments about Sasha Cohen.....either you are blind or just a simple philistine....you said Sahsa Cohen is cold, has poor edges, and possesses unremarkable speed and footwork?????? Seriously??????? That has to be the most outrageous, ignorant, and ridiculous comment I have EVER read in the unfortunately long list of stupid, uninformed and affected comments I have seen....thanks for reminding me that troglodytes still exist

  • @courtneysk8s lets see you do an almost 4 min. program with a lot of triples, can you do it??? no!!! so do not bash sasha she tried her best at the sport and did an awesome job! thats all its about! and by the way ive met sasha and she is NOT SNOBBISH!!! so please find something better to do than sit all day bashing her!

  • @courtneysk8s

Courtney, given your opinions here, you seem to be a super incredible skater, like none this world has ever seen. Can you please post some of your programs on Youtube? Make sure to name it courtneysk8s, so we can all marvel at your masterpieces. If your programs are touching, like fine art, I run a fairly large hedge fund, so I may be able to sponsor you. Best of luck on your career.

  • she rlly improved a lot over the years

  • now this is strange...one critic says her expressions were way over the top, and one says she seemed cold and distant in her performances...

  • i love that throughout her whole skating career she was just exquisite. her presentation was amazing even as far back as this dates and just got better and better. beautiful positions, posture, control, spirals, spins, the tight pointed legs and feet in her jumps. it just sets her apart so far from everyone else. i don't think there will ever be someone who will match her.

  • is that junior nationals or nationals for the JUNIOR level. There's a difference. There's a junior national for Juvenile-Intermediate and just a normal national for Novice-Senior.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I always wanted to see Sasha skate as a junior.

  • what is that music?

  • @iceshowcutie Rachmaninov piano concerto no. 2 :)

  • Meh, she was always so overhyped. I never understood the fuss over her, other than her nice spins. She's graceful, but not really musical: I never, ever get the impression that she really FEELS or UNDERSTANDS her music.

  • @TinyAva93 You really don't know anything about skating do you...

  • @Iamsoradical Actually, I do, and I think that Sasha was really mediocre in a lot of ways. One being that there is no genuine emotion in her skating, she always seems cold, distant, and very fake. A lot of her jump landings were wonky, even when she didn't fall. Her speed was nothing impressive. Her spirals had nice positions but were fairly slow and the edges often shallow. Her footwork wasn't anything special, either. So other than her spins, yeah, I do not see the big deal.

  • And look how limber she is in her spirals and layback spin Dick Button and Peggy Fleming love her posture on the ice.

  • @courtneysk8s jealous much?man, youre pathetic.I know she doesnt have the best technique(as in edges and jumps)but look at her spins.and the music you use has nothing to do with the skater you are.if she likes Rachmaninov she'll use it no matter how angry you get.fyi.She was never princessish(look at khm Carmen..Malaguena, Paso Double)but most of all she had a personality, and a preciseness about her moves.Thats what made her a crowd favorite. She always gave 100% presentation, you cant deny that.

  • @courtneysk8s Why waste your time bashing her? And why do you never have anything positive to say about anyone? Please, think before you post. Please, lighten up your attitude. Sasha can make her own decisions, and if you don't like her decisions, tough luck, you aren't Sasha. and I agree with snofleck, why are you even watching the videos? Just to bash them? Thank you. It's a shame she messed up on that double or triple loop. And she still has the amazing expression!Amazing little skater.

  • @courtneysk8s alright you win. but i still think sasha is a wonderful skater.

  • first of all, i would love to see you try and skate like that. second, its hard to find songs that are good material for skating programs.i know that for a fact! I don't get why people have to judge? obviously if you don't like her, then why are you even watching this video in the first place? personally i love Sasha Cohen. she is a beautiful skater who has worked hard over the years to become one of the best in the world.

  • Great video of the young budding Sasha. Amazingly, over the next few years, she replaced Michelle Kwan as my favorite skater, something I never ever expected to happen as long as Michelle was skating. The problem now is, who will ever be able to replace Sasha in my heart?

  • so beautiful!

  • Such style at an early age. The best ever....

  • Oh! Thank you so much for posting this! I hope you find the LP!

Is this the music she was skating to? A mix of Rachmaninoff?

  • she would be about 13 in this video, right? simply amazing, and she grasps the music well too. it's too bad that whoever edited her music did a fine job of ruining Rachmaninov's masterpiece :(

  • @GoldPaintedDaisies Sasha was 14 at the 1999 US Nationals. :)

  • the end of her music is the same as the end of mine. and we end it the same way :D

  • how old was she in this?

  • Thanks so much for this!!!!

  • 2:22 Got to love the "Sasha Curl" ^^

Such an amazing stater, even at such a young age. But man the song cut sucks o_O

  • Thanks for posting so much!!!

  • the music editing is a nightmare, but Sasha showed extortinary line and poise even at her young age. That spiral sequence is to die for.

  • Gorgeous already at such a young age.

  • She looks absolutly gorgeous! Thank you so much for posting Tracy!
