  • yeah i remember early 90s..singer is Kai Metov.whatch the original song.even funnier

  • After working to meet production goals for the year in your crappy job in a Soviet owned factory, you get the car. You get the engine when you achieve next years production goals. Let's not talk about the tires.

  • Lada <3 everyone had one in 1970's in Finland

  • Russian, or Soviet?

Hard to imagine them singing in English in a Soviet commercial.

  • the430movie its simply, Gorbachev destroy soviet economy.

  • Why isn't the song a full soundtrack?? Its so cool!

  • this is a serious shit! Lada song ROX!!

  • We had a 30 years old LADA , what a machine ... You can assemble it and disassemble it with a only a knife , durable and easy to maintain car

  • In Cuba these garbage cars are like a luxury car.

  • In capitalist america, bank robs you!

  • If anything, the stupidity of this video, would make me never want to see a Lada again ! :-p

  • That you for uploading a soviet era commercial. I am seeing one for the first time. It is quite entertaining and very Russian looking .

  • the guitar at 0:23!!!!

  • Lada cars were maybe not fast or luxurius, but they were tough as hell; you could go pretty much anywhere with them.

  • That car looks like a piece of sh*t, but that dude smoking a ciggarette singing in it makes me want one.

  • @depeche609 man, the 96 civic is even crappier, like ladas are famous in Ralliart racing in the early 70's all the way to the early 2000s, no civic even comes CLOSE!!!

  • this ad was not aimed at the Soviet market b ecause in Russia, the car is called Jiguli, not Lada

  • @n5017858

I thought that Jiguli was another model of a Soviet car . I have also heard of Lada Zestava. That is a sub model of the Lada, I guess.

  • @sahajad I recall only because it came up in a Russian text book of mine. I'm sure there is a Russian here who can clear this up

  • Can anyone tell me a full translation of what they're saying?

  • Soviet communism fell because people lost faith in their military after this commercial.

  • @AngryVGFur this is the 90's comercial

  • @negativ9009 ah... that's not quite as funny, though

  • In Savyet Russia, car drives you!

  • Comment removed

  • Is this Soviet or post USSR?

  • @MWR166 Probably 1990, so still USSR. Maybe even 1991 in which case it then post USSR.

  • @bomberfun1 Thanks I'd love on of those as car though.

  • 1993, After the USSR took a terminal punch

  • Pazishen namber tu, tebya khachu. Yabadabadabadoo!

  • In soviet russia nothing happens because the soviet union doesn't exist anymore, fuck off with those stupid comments.

  • this car is fucking ugly,no matter how much you tune it,repaint it,its ugly, but one thing is sure, its tough, breaks down rarely (if maintained properly)and will last you a lifetime :)

  • Now I like lada's :D a car with actual protection you crash you get nothing you go off-road your car is still operational....I Like like lada :D! specially Samara

  • This is the best comerical ever.

  • this is the most anoying advert ever and the car is horrible

  • @benvarga1995

Did you ever drove Lada Samara, and if you didn't, how do you know that car is horrible?

  • communism rules, everyone shutup, you just dont know what socialism really is!

  • POSITION NUMBER!

  • cheese dick

  • In soviet Russia internet has no porn.

  • In soviet russia car buys you!

  • we have to be honest i love russia but, lada isnt the best of russian products...

  • what year is this from

  • Odd how they felt the need to advertise the only car most people could buy anyway.

  • @Threetails The ad's fake actually =)

  • dont laugh america is on a path to this, but i for one welcome communism here

  • Кай Метов - Position 2

  • red headlights? 0:47

  • Comment removed

  • Lol! This ad is funny. The fellow in the car is sings

"My Soviet car is broken down in the snow".

The soldiers sing "We march faster than this car could ever go".

  • Best. comercial. ever. seriously.

  • yes, position number two was always my favorite :-))

  • Lada was considered the shittiest car in the UK. Until they gave up building them for the UK market.

  • @andymax760

your name fucking sucks just like your statement

  • @draqonofwhitestars your fucking retort sucks, just like your mom

  • @draqonofwhitestars I don't think you get just how bad most ladas are. Not quite as bad as the moscovich but still quite bad.

  • @draqonofwhitestars Fucking comunist...!!!

  • @draqonofwhitestars is andy a name of a girl ?

  • @draqonofwhitestars Agreed!

  • @andymax760 I second your opinion of this ad. The Russians just don't know how to advertise a product. Advertising and imaging psychology just isn't in their blood.

They should either do a parody of old Soviet images or do an overblown Stalinist endorsement of their Lada. This attempt to be cute and clever fails big time.

  • @InfiniteMushroom Hell, they couldn't even make good propaganda. Useless slogans, pictures of pissed off peasants and workers, what a farce. You can't build a society on hate and anger.

  • @soco13466 Somehow you overlooked the key word in my comment... PARODY. The very stridency of old Soviet propaganda makes it golden for clever ad writers and political satire.

  • @InfiniteMushroom this is a parody-comedy comercial you dumbass

  • @negativ9009 I believe I already pointed that out, stupid. I also pointed out that the quality of the parody was very poor..., in so many words. My original comments to that end are perfectly clear.

  • @InfiniteMushroom make a comercial yourself then make decisions about others work

  • @negativ9009 I am amazed at the sophomoric quality of your retort. The very goal of a commercial is to persuade the VIEWER to buy the product. That makes MY OPINION of the ad more important than its production!

There are times when criticism is unwarranted but, in advertising, it is always fair game.

  • @InfiniteMushroom The purpose of this one is to remind the viewer about the car since comercial was made like 10 years after this car first got into production. So it doesn’t need to be like “in your face new car is out come and get it!” and excuse me involve stalin endorsement or some “soviet flashbacks” to get the viewer pissted and angry or sarcastic. It’s early 90’s you don’t know their mentality. So seeing an ensign or a cop own a lada or a car in general is encouraging for that period

  • @negativ9009 Now I understand your viewpoint. Well said. Edgy parodies of Stalinist images would make a great SNL bit for selling Ladas but would probably fail for somebody in Russia who has different memories of those times.

  • @InfiniteMushroom Yes quite lot of locals would feel negative about the thing specially the older ones for which this product is mainly oriented.

  • @andymax760 Lada 1300 rules!!

    fag

  • @andymax760 go back to massachusets, lazy hamburger fuck.

  • Reminds me of Red Alert 2 march.

  • All that car needs is a flux capacitor and it would be awesome.

  • Woh, this is really old russian!

  • This is not a commercial, it's a music video by some no-name russian band made in the 90's, after the USSR collapse.

  • @nitroxdsm You're thinking of the song that it uses, Position 2 by Kai Metrov.

  • @nitroxdsm Yep video is from 1993. Total grunge? HA

  • This ad is so.. touching. It brought tears to my eyes.

  • it is very funny 'cause Ladas were once very popular in Egypt as well, you can still find them now, yet the people driving them are nearly always 60 + years old !!! XD

    greetings from Egypt :)

  • @Artemisia494 You can still see tons of Ladas and Moskvitch's in the streets of any city in Cuba.

  • 12 users are from germany

  • Hi! I live in Hungary, and I would be happy If I could afford a Samara. :S

  • In a country where majority of males would do virtually anything to avoid ending up as privates in the army, it seems strange to associate the military system with a product in order to boost its sales

  • I can't stop watching this.

  • he's...., too sexy for that car....

  • with a waiting list of only 43 years!

  • My Toyota Camry looks like a Ferrari now!

  • Is Lada..berry nice!!! Nyet!!!

  • i need one of thier coats

  • This thing makes the Ford Tempo seem like a super car.

  • klassna :)

  • the soldiers, sing it better than kai metov deffinetly... i like this one better :)

  • Tvoya mat, eto zaparojets po tepereshnim merkam.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO! SOVIET RUSSIA~!

  • here's an advice,,, take an old shopping cart push it down the hill and jump inside! you'l have a better ride than the Lada.

  • what the fuck is in the water over there? you guys could make a lot of money bottling and selling it to countries like mine which unfortunately has no psychedelic contaminants in the drinking water.

  • @wilkes85 it's called "vodka"

  • my god total crap I'll take my Audi A3 S-Line Quattro thanks

  • @macnerd93 yeah i'd rather pick a metro thn this

  • USSR ROCKED, THESE SOLDIERS WERE TOTALLY COOL COMPARED TO THE AMERICAN ASSHOLES AT G-BAY!!!!

  • @borisrivas2929 How do you explain the collapse of the former Communist Russia? GOD BLESS AMERICA! This looks like a commericial Obama would approve of!

  • @5up3rk1w1

    Lol retard

  • @SegaMegadriveMic, In Capitalist Russia, Lada is still drives you

  • аааа

  • kai metov is the singer name

  • 0:23... does that man have a guitar on his back???

  • O_O

  • Finland rulez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for letting us know fag

  • shut up man its general culture and its interesting

  • Finland was full of Ladas in the 1970's because all there was to import was oil and Ladas. And zinc buckets.

The idea of commercial advertising for cars in a Soviet context is laughable! They needed absolutely no ads to sell cos ppl were happy for the privilege to buy one in the first place. The number of private cars was very low during most of the communist times. A PERMIT to buy a car was used as a reward by the state!

  • In 1970s in USSR waiting list to by ANY private car was about 5-6 years.

  • @ssmusic214 yes, and in Bulgaria, one of the former countries of the eastern bloc, the waiting period was around 18-20 years. When a couple had a child, it put the money in a trust fund and by the time that child was old enough to have a driver's license, the car was ready to be picked up.That's how my uncle had his first LADA.

  • @ssmusic214 fuck tht, i'd go to another country n buy a car there then drive back into the USSR

  • @JBartlett09 Great idea!

The only little bitty problem is: In old USSR you'd got shot for trying to do that.

  • oh yeah, theres a point

  • @ssmusic214 Same was in Poland - and used cars in second market were much more expensive than the new ones.

  • @ssmusic214

Is Brazil just as in many other countries that are not the US, a middle class family takes 5-8 years paying a car

In the 80's in Brazil to buy a car you needed to pay up front the taxes first then wait 6 months to a Year to receive your car

  • @ssmusic214 Which is why (if you were a Muscovite) you went down to that skeezy car lot next to the Arbat (you know, the one run by Chechens) and bought a used Lada or Moskovitch. All towns in the USSR had places where, on the weekends, people sold used, usually beat-to-shit, cars.

  • @MrJohndoakes There was no USED CAR LOTS in 1970s anywhere near Arbat or anywhere else I ever heard of.......

  • @ssmusic214 By "used car lot" I meant the parking lot where private citizens privately sold their private rustbuckets to any sucker with cash. Is it a used car lot? No, if you go by American standards, but cars were sold there informally.

  • @MrJohndoakes I never owned car in USSR, but few relatives and people I knew did. From what I know, you didn't need any car lot to sell ANY car. Any rustbucket you want to sell would fly away instantly at premium price.

And owning and maintaining a car in USSR was horrific nightmare!

  • @ssmusic214 My understanding is that there was a Soviet black market in things like carpentry, dentistry, electrical repair, and automotive work - as long as you had contacts and were in a city. Out in the sticks I don't know. What I do know is that Soviet designers tried to make the cars simple enough so that anybody with some mechanical knowledge could fix them, though parts were hard to find (a black market in themselves.)

  • @MrJohndoakes 1974 My friend giving me a ride in his Lada from Yalta to Simferopol Airport over Angorsky mountain pass in Crimean mountains going slower than everybody. When I commented on his careful driving, he explained : "My brake pads are completely worn out and I can not find new ones even on black market". I was going 26 Km DOWNHILL ON THE MOUNTAIN ROAD in a car with NO BRAKES. (Lots of places on that road where looking over the shoulder you CAN NOT SEE THE BOTTOM OF THE CLIFF).

  • at the end were the lights supposed to flash or was it the dodgy electricals :D but no ladas are the best economy cars ever its real driving none of that traction control crap

  • xDD...

  • lada samara FTW XD

  • Would I be right in saying the bit after "Position Number One/Position Number two" translates to

    "My darling where are you?"

  • yes, absolutely.

    briefly:

postion number one — I'm resting. position number two — i want you.

i know for sure that you are somewhere here for me, and i want you.

    my darling where are you?

    your darling is at lada-centre!

    daaaamn that's hot ^_^

  • @coshgr BEST. AD. EVER.

  • This is officially my favourite ad in history.

    Can anyone translate?

  • What a jingle. Makes communism look fun.

  • It IS fun lol! Try it sometime!

  • A memory of better days.

  • I remember old Ladas, what a nostalgy!

  • Russians cars. AWESOME!

  • As for Volga, it's a very comfortable and big car, but it's too large for driving in Moscow traffic jam and now it has a very bad anti-corrosion properties, probably its all about metal economy ((

  • I had a samara, so, it's not so bad car i think, but it has a some undesirable defects that can make using this car not so comfortable. For example, inaccurate screwing of saloon decorative materials.

Now i driving 11-years old Skoda Felicia 1,6 and i like it more. A little less dynamics, but more comfort.

  • Early Rammstein?

  • samara was probably the best soviet car ever made, lot of mobsters were driving them by the end of 80s , begining of 90s

  • what is it with russians and smoking :P

  • what is it with russians and vodka

  • It taste very good

  • i think that the Samara is not very good car, but the Lada 2107 (or Riva in UK) is a quite good car, cheap, reliable, simple to work on it, i want to buy one

  • wonder if its like a AK-47 when it comes under the tracks of a tank lol

  • what a pos car and a pos commercial

  • I think i just had a stroke...

  • can anybody remember british leyland? good god. BL has a terrible reputation, just like lada (only there are isolated cases)

  • омг чё это??
