BJD's are some of the best dolls ever made. I love 'em. I got into them because I watched Angelic Layer. I bought my first Obitsu (Ball-joints so she is a BJD.) girl and now I'm waiting for my first boy. I love this hobby! My dream is to one day own a Dollzone Cherry or Brant. (If I got a Brant I'd name him Dante.)
@EeveelutionStorm Angelic Layer T-T Gawd I wish they existed... this show is what made me want a Dollfie... I want a Leeke doll... Mabel.... I've had her picked out for ages....
@EeveelutionStorm I haven't even tried to persuade my parents lol. But if its my own money, I can do what I like with it XD I was gonna ask for one on my birthday or something, but I couldn't see it working out... although... now my mums obsessed with pandora/troll beads, which end up costing just as much o_o so it's each to their own on terms of value XD
@Meimi132 I'm biding my time. My B-day is in Winter so I have a few months to go...I was gonna pick out the one that appeals to me the most caclulate the price and mention it comes face-up'd with eyes already and fits Liv wigs.
I hope it works and I hope you can get your Leeke doll.
@EeveelutionStorm Ohhh I googled to see what Bobobie dolls looked like, and what do I see on the front page, a doll named Mei XD like she's meant for me.... there are so many pretty BJD's out there... it's unfair XD
@Meimi132 XD Yeah it's like there's so many to choose from. I love the Bobobie/Resinsoul Sculpts (they're sister companies) And it's like 'Who to choose?' I really love the Isabella sculpt too she's so adorable.
How does a 12 year old Buy 12 bjd? I think your just playing tricks because you have nothing better to do. A 12 year old would have no real income, definitely not a Suitable one to buy so Many Dolls. It's not like they're Cheap by any means.
They're speaking of Japan, where it's true that the major fan-base of dollfies is adults. Of course in other countries that can vary. So yes, it IS correct to say it's almost all adults in it's fan-base in Japan.
I'm actually pretty happy with how they portrayed the collectors. The only really creepy part is the "birthing" ceremony. Those crazy Japanese. ^_^ (Yes, I collect ball joint dolls. I think some of the American collectors can be just as crazy, if not crazier, as the Japanese.)
You know, my mother didn't understand why I was into these dolls. She said, "my daughter is in her early 30s and she's going back to dolls?!" When I showed her this video, then said, "ohhhhhhhh, now I understand why my daughter is fantasized by them." :)

Well, odd, interesting, but whatever. If japan would rather let itslef die out while having some kind of weird relationship with these dolls they can be my guest, honestly I think this is their decision and if it makes em happy them why the hell not.
Do you not think that other things might be involved? Do you not think? Has the consistent flood of "idols" removed any thought?
The main contributing factors in reality are women not having children until later in life, we have similar in the US. Like the one guy said When you can't have children, this is an acceptable replacement."
Go ahead and stick with your theory though; that means the US has negative population growth with out immigration because of some weird obsession with cars or TV.
Aw, sooo cute! There's so many adorable dolls-and even guys can collect them too, that's awesome :D Volks is probably rolling in money right now ha ha "muah ha ha, our dolls are everywhere!". The naming ceremony could be considered freaky...but I've already spent 6 months in the fandom so...nothing really freaks me out anymore when it comes to BJD XD I can't wait until I have enough money for my 'baby'(ha ha)
So I'm part of one of the cutest cults on earth? o_O
This is a really narrow view of bjd collectors. I can honestly say if I weren't a collector and didn't know otherwise, I'd be pretty creeped out by this as well.
Ugh, trust programs like this to make Dollfies seem like a 'cult' to westerners. I'm slooowly losing respect for people like Kelly Osbourne and Jonathan Ross because they make Japan seem so awful because of the western clash with the eastern culture...
FUNNY. The dollfie collectors in Japan look like they are normal weight, have actual lives, and look like they have jobs in the corperate biz (VERY RICH). But...in other countries like America and the UK, are assosiated with being overweight, havin no lives, obessed with anime and yaoi, and are stupid japnophilles.....oh how things get twisted from 1 country to the next......
I own a doll.. and I'm not overweight, I have a life, only enjoy anime, and am not a japanophile(in fact those people creep me out). I'm from the US btw.
): Alot of people that collect BJD's aren't into Anime/Yaoi anyways.
Yeah, like, "I'd rather have a Dollfie than a kid", or "My Dollfies ARE my kids!" Well, how's your Dollfie doing in school?? Are you scared your Dollfie will hang out with the wrong group of Dollfies!? COME ON!
It's just a closing speech he needed for the clip. As a reporter or host of a show, you have to find a way to close it... even if you end up saying the most bizarre things.
This is a great video to use to explain what BJD's are to my friends and family who have no idea and think i'm mad XD Such a great hobby ^_^

It's not strange for people to feel emotionally connected to it, since it feels so real. But I won't be worshipping them
