I guess it is fun to hack and slash them lizard dudes, but one way is the best in the sense of being most efficient, and most fun, and that is to blast them with a fully developed fireball skill, and the best thing is that you can hit all three of them dumb lizard dudes as they are chasing you, with one fireball. The damage is maximum, and it looks great as you are frying them iguanas on a stick. xD Or that is one well done ash beast, and there is steaks for all the sailor boys. xD

I like the battle system in risen. Though not as much variety in terms of play styles (swordboard plays EXACTLY like swordboard) it does reward you for playing the right way - an easier game.

Gothic 3 had a stupid combat system ,you only had to keep clicking and the enemy wold fly in the air .Here,if you click like a freak ,you'll atack like a ...a....a slime ,you have to time your atack ,so you can hit faster.You must block your enemy's atack ,you can counterparry .You can do a lot of muves ,while in gothic ,there aren't many "hits" so to say,you can hit normaly ,fast or hard.

@rogiter123 usually it is quite easy. You can stand there and block many attacks of your enemies. Its just stupid if you have to use a two handed weapon (my opinion) because you cant defend yourself that good. and the last boss is a little bit tricky, but if you know what to do it is a good fight :D (sorry, bad english)

Blacksmiths will sell helmets when you're like 20 something and in chapter...3 i think. And you will get the armor by doing the main quest. If you wouldnt be a lazy motherfucker, you'd just read the comments below.

Simple. Instead of training on the monastery I was training at harbour town. There is that ogre that can teach you axe fighting (also a great skill) and the guy near the don's house which will teach you sword fighting.

There is no fucking joining. You will be an inqusitor, you wanted it or not. Its part of the main plot. And you will join Inqusition if u want to play the game trought. And joining the inqusition doesnt mean that ur bound to use only staff. WTF?
ok ok sorry... no need to get so heated up... I just started playing the game and I was in a dillema whether to choose joining the men of don esteban or the inquisition people... I couldn't possibly know about the plot. I assumed that I could only find staff training in the inquisition controlled settlements. now i know i was wrong.
well a good plus for the inquisition side is that the armor you receive is for free. Can come in handy especially in later game, when ur usually short on cash cos buying all those expensive weapons and potions and spells... The Captain armor from the Don costs up to 5k gold... Which is REALLY expensive for this game (you earn cca. 150-200 gold per quest, sometimes even nothing, only healing/mana potions or spell scrolls...
Not, really... I've completed this game twice - As the Don member and as the Monastery member.
As a monastery trainee, I learned this crystal magic... And as a Don's member, I learned sword fighting and hunting with a bow. If you'd only know how much better the second combination is... The bow deals much more damage than magic bullets and at a longer distance.

You start with shit, you only get armors by doing main quest, and there are not many armors. There are not like thousands of wpns, but enought i'd say.
if you follow only the main quest, without completing all the other quests, without killing all the mobs, exploring all the map; yep... the game can be completed in 2 days... but i completed the WHOLE game in 1 week, completing all possible quests.
Well, I've completed all quests too except three of them i think. Except I didn't really kill all the mobs... Get's boring at the end if you can kill even an Ogre with three or four shots...
This game is amazing. Put it that way.. Been playing for 2 days, LOVE IT!..
It's Open world, really gives outt he living breathing world feeling.. The combat system is actually pretty neat, (fighting with stave's is actually fun in this game! )
You cant choose your characters looks. Then again, you get learning points when you gain level, and you can buy skills with them. including blacksmithing, pickpocketing, thieving, axe fighting, sword fighting, all the magic crap...Different people teach different stuff, and nobody teaches everything :P This game is like 10x more difficult in battles than oblivion, and lol, 10x better than oblivion. None of that console crap, just pure RPG.

Can come in handy especially in later game, when ur usually short on cash cos buying all those expensive weapons and potions and spells... The Captain armor from the Don costs up to 5k gold... Which is REALLY expensive for this game (you earn cca. 150-200 gold per quest, sometimes even nothing, only healing/mana potions or spell scrolls...

Not, really... I've completed this game twice - As the Don member and as the Monastery member.
As a monastery trainee, I learned this crystal magic... And as a Don's member, I learned sword fighting and hunting with a bow. If you'd only know how much better the second combination is... The bow deals much more damage than magic bullets and at a longer distance.

You start with shit, you only get armors by doing main quest, and there are not many armors. There are not like thousands of wpns, but enought i'd say.

It's like that... The game really is short... So I'd say that there's exactly the right amount of different armour pieces troughout the game.
Completed Risen two times in four days, imagine that? Now I'm moving to gothic 3 ^^

if you follow only the main quest, without completing all the other quests, without killing all the mobs, exploring all the map; yep... the game can be completed in 2 days... but i completed the WHOLE game in 1 week, completing all possible quests.

Well, I've completed all quests too except three of them i think. Except I didn't really kill all the mobs... Get's boring at the end if you can kill even an Ogre with three or four shots...

This game is amazing. Put it that way.. Been playing for 2 days, LOVE IT!..
It's Open world, really gives outt he living breathing world feeling.. The combat system is actually pretty neat, (fighting with stave's is actually fun in this game! )

You cant choose your characters looks. Then again, you get learning points when you gain level, and you can buy skills with them. including blacksmithing, pickpocketing, thieving, axe fighting, sword fighting, all the magic crap...Different people teach different stuff, and nobody teaches everything :P This game is like 10x more difficult in battles than oblivion, and lol, 10x better than oblivion. None of that console crap, just pure RPG.

I love this game but still..Oblivion is one of those RPG that has the most to offer.
I love some small,innovative characteristics here but Oblivion is a far better game.
I played Oblivion and i'm currently playing this.

Like what? Yeah the camera is annoying because you cannot rotate 360 degrees.
Major flaws in Oblivion are poor dialogue mechanics,really...if they were better it would be :O
I love vanilla Oblivion,still it has few flaws,good variety but compared to Morrowind variety :O
It's epic when moded. My Oblivion is like 11gb large :D
