he was from the Santa Cruz mtrs..The Grreat and Only San Lorenzo Valley if i remember well...........it was the dust from the redwoods that got him, i heard.............him and Tim Buckley..........
great tune, great band.... Been had a great voice, soulful and warm...
red moon is very good album.... i bought it in the early 90s and now and then over the years i have listened to it, and each time i feel good inside when listen to it, i strongly recommend it... it sad there is not more videos on You Tube with this band, like official videos for singles and such, if someone has something lying around please upload it, that would be nice :)
Saw the Call a few times in the 80's. I was there for this show. I too, looked around and wondered how many of these young folk knew what they were truly witnessing. A poet. A prophet. Rest in peace, Michael. I'll see you in the Big Town...
I just heard on FaceBook that he passed away and to a better place. His lyrics have so much meaning and depth, nothing shallow and his voice is so powerful....He will be greatly missed......R.I.P.
This song was originally sung w/ Bono on the original track. How is there no video of " I dont wanna" on You Tube? To me that is Michael Been and The Call at their very finest. Such powerful emotion in that song. Haunts me still 20+ years later.
I'm every DJ's worst nightmare "educated consumer", fortunately I made friends with them and got lots of The Call played. This song still kills me!! I even forgive Tango and Cash...Let the Day Begin..
it seems as if the young crowd here has no idea of what it is they are actually witnessing (which is one of THE greatest lyrical bands of the last 30 years). Not many bands if ANY, can write like Michael. The Call>>> tight musically, deep lyrically...awesome and powerful all around... UNIQUE in every aspect!
@thecannyshark@thecannyshark I am kinda glad they didn't, I know that sounds like I am being mean, But, I have seen bands that I loved and when they got really popular, they strayed from what made them. Maybe that is the reason The Call didn't, they didn't sell out. Who knows, I loved their music.
