  • no oil on the cap bolts?

  • what kind of silicone? looks like something that i would use for building a bathroom.

  • Хлопцы а что это вы детскими щелчковыми ключами работаете? это ж для юнных автолюбителей, я польсуюсь только стрелочным динамометром, им я чувствую что делаю!

  • Wrong, the whole purpose of a torque wrench is so once you achive a given torque it clicks, therefore you cant overtighten unless you pull past the preset torque. i Use one as part of my job and never had a fault.

  • when using a troque wrench you only allow it to click once, Double clicking means you will actually overtighten the bolts, also after tightening each cap you check to ensure the crank still rotates

  • There was one flaw that i spotted.. And you forgot to use plasta guage. it could determine if the block or crank need machining. but everything looked brand new. just always use it because you never know what could happen.

  • восьмицилиндровик.. мм.. вкусняшка) "лего для настоящих мужиков"=)

  • hi,i have a 63 olds 215... can i get 300 hp & be reliable??...everybody keeps telling me not to put it in my car...but i just love that it is alum & only 300lbs....thanks for some input.

  • Double click. . . proper!

  • Cheers to our friends in the U.K. Thanks for sharing. Very professional job.

  • I'm nw to V8's. So this might seem like a stupid question to those that aren't. But is/does the center bearing act like a thrust bearing ?

  • I could only cope with 2mins of that shite music!!!

  • Totally shit music ruined this.

  • unfinished..!!?stopped at 4:56..also there was annoying and awful music but good video

  • Only thing missing was setting the end float which is important! good vid tho'

  • what is the CC capacity?

  • @thescallykiller at 2:30 you can see that the crank is stamped 4.0

  • Please take this awful music off an otherwise excellent video

  • Already been said, Bath the shells in oil, rotate the crank after torquing down each cap.

Good video, without the annoying music

  • this video gives me wood.wish i could get my old landy to work right.but it will!

  • no lubricant, come on i know there is an oil crisis, but shells un bathed, lol

  • @TheLatchford

mate there have been advances in technology since your time.that compound he places on the bearings works alot better than just oil on start up

  • i like your video remember i was doing same job it was pretty nice but life goes on so doing mechanic i could not go far so i changed, always to learn more different things

  • wha twhere the songs in this video any one with ideas?

great build, my dad will buy one of these soon, very soon i hope!

  • First one is The Pretender by the Foo Fighters, second I Am The Highway by Audioslave.

  • thanks dude! :)

  • Great video! Thanks for the tutorial, if you post a video on how you guys install the top of the engine, please let me know. But this is excellent, now I want to rebuild a 3.8 litre V6 engine, which like the Rover V8 is a Buick unit

  • excellent vid , should be more like this on youtube, shame its spoiled by anoying music as with so many vids!

  • Good on ya mate... Love the Vid, Can't wait for the next installment...

    Cheers

  • Nice job but I would have liked to see some assembly lube on the rear main oil seal and crank surface.

I would have tested the crank for free rotation before final torqueing.

  • That was mechanical pornography! Very intersesting especially as I am looking for a RV8 TVR Chimaera in the near future.

Any chance of seeing the top end/cams/lifters/valves etc being done and then the start up?

  • Why no anti seize or lube on the Main bolts. Iron to Aluminium can cause major problems, is this part of the rover proceedure? I have just spent 2 hours removing a bolt from a V8 rover head. Please let me know what product to use in this application. Thanks.

  • this video was VERY educational, I am suprised that you are not already a member of YouTube

  • Can I ask, how long did that job actually take in total?

  • ITS VIDEOS LIKE THESE THAT YOUTUBE WAS MADE FOR!!! Good work guys.. keep it up!!!

  • please can we have the next installment - the top end please.

  • great video its like the food network for mechanics! wish there was more stuff up to this standard available, I've just spent the afternoon cursing my landy for being such a pain in the arse to fix!

  • very fascinating!! i'm looking forward to the other parts!

  • dude nice vid keep em coming
