  • I love you Ian!!! se que cuando muera nos volveremos a encontrar!

  • Ian Curtis great job

  • The introduction was from when they perfromed Shadowplay. strange error or deliberate change.

  • Hooky is from Jane St, Ordsall - SALFORD!

  • is this sam riley's voice or ..?

  • @TheWritingWriter yeh its sam riley he is in a band he sings in a lower tone just like ian curtis did

  • How they found a drummer who looks just like Stephen Morris and could play just like him, I have no idea!

  • @hightimesbruce He only look's like him because of his floppy hair! definitely not a dead ringer though. Specsavers i think! good drummer though.

  • This film was so amazing I can't stop watching it

  • Sam Riley did a spectacular job as Ian. Do you guys know he'll soon be playing On the Road's Sal Paradise for it's 2011 movie release? I knew from the start he was a born star.

  • wow they just tried to copy their live video exactly

  • The real song they first play on TV was shadowplay rigth??

  • @Galansboard thats what i was thinking!

  • @Galansboard yes it was on Grandana reports. this is almost identical xcept jd played shadowplay not transmission.

  • It's almost like the real event, when they played in the TV... but there is one mistake - by the historic way, they played Shadowplay, when Tony Willson introducted them.

  • the movie was absolutely brilliant. the actors were great, the continuity (among with the songs) was perfect, everyone should watch it :)

  • 'Control' was an excellent film.

  • oh shit whos the actor that plays Bernard? He really looks like him when he was young!

  • they found the an exact same looking actor with ian curtis

  • Yup. One of the main reasons why the movie was successful. You should watch it if you're at all interested in Joy Division. The acting was pretty great too.

  • @kevinbelmont ive watched it many times actually and we totally agree that the acting acting was great!!

  • @graceofacat maybe a little akin to "The Doors" - Val Kilmer..

  • @elshano12 IAWTC Kilmer = awesome

  • @graceofacat the actor is prettier than Ian Curtis

  • Can we say Big Dogs Cock?

  • good but hardly with the passion of ian

  • The guitar is the only thing lacking. Other than that, it's an excellent portrayal

  • Yeah you're right!

  • People don't even know how great this movie is for even existing.

I mean, when they start with "Drive-In Saturday" followed by "2 HB," you know you're in for a good time.

  • @SonofMrPeanut I downloaded the soundtrack, best i tunes purchase ever!

  • His voice holds the weight of his own perception.

  • dance ,dance, dance to the radio

  • The Thing that really shocked me when i saw this movie was how similar are the actors to the real members of Joy Division!

  • Exactly that was what i thought.

  • Tudo bem que no filme retrataram que eles tocaram "Transmission", mas na primeira apresentação na TV eles tocaram "Shadowplay".

  • beautiful

  • andddd WE COULDDDDDDDDDDD DANCEEEEEEEEEE

  • Note that the movie actors are imposed over the the actual original footage of this performance. Most noticeable from the guitarist's right side angle.

  • the best

  • Thanks, I know =)....Great film.

  • ta piosenka, czy film? Jak dla mnie- muzyka;))

  • zgadz się, Joy Division is the best

  • que fome la version

  • This is my favourite Joy Division´s song. I cant understand qhat says, becasue I speak spanish, but anyway i like it!

  • Gracias Grey...!

  • Do you know the funny part of this song?

    Look at the background.

They are using Marshall Speaker Cabinets (model 1960A and 1960B).

The speaker cabinets were not introduced until several years after Ian's death. LOL

  • Anorakinell . Geeeeeeeek

  • tht is not leonardo di caprio ffs

  • i love dis!

  • Leonardo di Caprio is Ian curtis hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha.

  • Leonardo di Caprio? Are you serious? That's Sam Riley.

  • it was only a joke, but the semblance with Leonardo di Caprio it's obvious.

  • IAN CURTIS RIP

  • dead on, just like ian

  • exelente personificación, un gran tributo a la banda.

  • One of the best performances I have ever seen..EVER! And I've seen and rated over 3000 movies. What an amazing actor.

  • I'm more impressed that they were able to find a drummer who looked like Stephen Morris who could play the drums to this.

  • Le salio igualito!

  • Raw and Brilliant!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • uooh the performance of Sam is so incredible!

  • The sound quality of this video is far better than the other Joy Division videos.

  • that is because its from the movie which is a year or so old

  • because their not the real joy division. This is from the movie control

  • hahah dickhead..

  • this is a moviee not a music video

  • man he is hot, I couldn't take my eyes off him for the whole film...amen thanks for this performance Sam Riley

  • For all those people who think that his dancing style could be an epilectic fit.. fuck off! When you are on a fit you cannot dance!!

  • "..except for the guitarist who comes from sulford, an important distinction"

    hilarious! lol

  • they actually played shadowplay in real life

  • Oh, be fair! It is a very decent reconstruction of the song. It is nothing on the original, but it is a good version.

  • oh snap, that was cool

  • Genius, Ian was a unique talent. He moves like Iggy, with great stage presence.

If you have no sense of the history of post punk please don't bother to comment on this performance. You have no idea....

  • i love him dancing :)

  • WHAt???

  • Как будто в нем эта музыка, а тело это просто проигрыватель...

    Как же его колбасит

    ( %

  • this sounds like an elevator music version compared to the real joy division.

  • correct

  • amazing!

  • This is like, way different than the original? How'd they do that?

  • well actually the first song they played on tv was shadowplay

  • the thing with jd's songs is that they are actually noy really hard toplay, but all together instruments with ian curti's voice made each song unique

  • I never knew about this group before I saw this movie. The movie seemed dark and compelling. I am one of the idiots that thought he was dancing... until I realized he was struggling with his fits onstage from giving so much. Don't care for his affairs, but deeply felt his pain... and LOVE this song now.

  • actually half the time his dancing was actually dancing and the audience could never tell if it was a fit or not, he called it his "dead fly dance."

  • its not epilepsy, its just his style you noobs.

  • you're a fool, he's not dancing like that because he's epileptic, its just his style. do you think he could just have a seizure conveniently between each chorus? n00000b

  • Ian Curtis' daughter, Natalie, was in the crowd as an extra for the Derby Hall gig, Sam Riley had played Mark E. Smith, lead singer of The Fall, in the film 24 Hour Party People

  • no he didnt mark e smith made a cameo himself. sam riley wasnt in 24 hour party people ive seen movie 100s of times hes not in it

  • rest of cast listed alphabetically: John Lydon ... Himself (archive footage) (as Johnny Rotten) Tim Paley ... Dr. Watson Sam Riley ... Mark E Smith

  • dude he was hence why they say the line about the fall in control

  • Lol,was he lying in that interview then?:P.

He was a pretty good Ian Curtis IMO by the way.

  • i love this movie ,this song,..... j.d i love you

  • i fucking love this movie!

  • dance dance dance dance dance to the radio...!!!

    very good performance :D

  • it is really like an original performance of them....grat, very good movie...

  • Oh dude. It looks like they're actually playing! In a movie! =O

  • they are, they all rehearsed the not too difficult songs :O)

  • It boggles the mind that people actually get songs right in a movie though....:D

  • joy division was important as the sex pistols were, nuff said, no need to elaborate

  • More important I would say, the Sex Pistols sold out...

  • is his fucking acting just genius or am i fucking crazy?

  • Joy division!!!!! control fucking great movie!!!! fucking great group!!! one of my favorites... i make a tribut of atmosphere if anyone wants to see it there it is jejejeje

  • If I've got this right.. This part of control is trying to potray jd's first TV appearance right? So shouldn't they actually perform Shadowplay here? (as the clip of the real TV performance shows?) Confused!?

  • The Best bit is Tony Wilson talking at the start

  • Sam Riley really did a great job with this movie :Do

  • It may be me, but did anyone else notice in the movie how prominent Ian's wedding ring seemed to be??

  • lol...deborah´s influence on the movie lol right...but funny is...or curious that while the movie continues and ian is getting closer to death...the light at his face star to disapear and they mark more the shadows...just like making the people feel that ian is reaching the shadows...

  • Tony Wilson , Rob Gretton and Joy Division a Marrige made in Heaven

  • the real version is joy division performing shadowplay

  • Corbijn's style and Joy Division's music seem to have been made for each other.

  • ...there is the mundane/ordinary and there is the extrordinary, then, there is this clip, which is......extra-extrordinary! This has greatness stamped all over it...

  • Fabulous film and clip.

  • Do they have the real recorded version of this? Or is this specific performance created for the film?

I'd like to see the orig.

  • I think this is the original:

    watch?v=6ZwMs2fLoVE

two videos look similar and the band is wearing the same clothes.

  • this is the best film i've ever seen. the best band and one of their best songs.

  • fantastic clip, from a awesome movie

  • thx for putting this here!
