I just watched a children in need episode with david tennant visiting the ood. They are having bad dreams and there is a problem with the acceleration of their species. When david holds hands with the other oods, he has a vision of a mouth laughing. This mouth is the masters, and by the looks of it, he has long hair and small beard growth. This vision matches the master shown here, so i think that this is definately going to happen.

Cool - I liked the John Simm's master very much, he was wicked and funny. But this is impossible because the last 2 2009 specials (last days & Nostalgias end) havn't even been started to be filmed yet! they only finished planet of the dead late February and they've only filmed the bits that were on the preview for the waters of mars! I like the idea of a edgier darker version of simm's master... trapping him in the victorian era would be cool as well. Imagine a slightly 'jokerish' feel... the master on a bad day rather than his fairly triumphant time he had previously.

My own take on the whole Master dying / ring thing is that he had the whole thing worked out with his wife in advance - recognising that the Doctor would probably defeat him (hey, it's not like the Doctor hasn't defeated him before), he planned an escape via a faked death / consciousness in the ring thing. After all, there was no precursor to his wife just coldbloodedly murdering him - they seemed to be getting on just fine then suddenly, the Doctor wins and she 'kills' him.

Well, i figred The Master was gonna come back, as he was executed, and her made The Doctor promise to keep The Masters ashes. So The Doctor did, and The Master resurected from his ashes, and possessed another dude body (The TV Movie, Paul McGann) and so The Master comes back.

the doctor and the master were the front line soldiers in the timewar and they failed to save gallifrey, to face sometimg powerful enough to survive it`s destruction AND take on both of them i`d say would have to be the first timelord rassilon himself. he would NOT be a happy bunny with those two.

nice one working out the anagram stuartsmith, i do think you make a good point about the theory of the ring and the laughing commemorates a victory! ive heard roumers that there is in fact a time lady, and that the ring is the equivalent of a fob-watch to a time lady! I also heard that the doctor daughter (Jenny) ends up sacrificing her life to try and save the doctor... But obviously fails considering that he regenerates! Cant wait! :-)

yes the master may be coming back! But this is impossible because the last 2 2009 specials (last days & Nostalgias end) havn't even been started to be filmed yet! they only finished planet of the dead late February and they've only filmed the bits that were on the preview for the waters of mars! So i know these clips are fake! some of them are from crime and punishment and some are just old dr.who clips mingled toghether! Trust me we cant be sure until it airs in October!

The master IS back though, John simm was seen at Tredegar House, near where i live, i went down there to check it out, they where filming for the 2009 christmas special, they have also started filming for The waters of mars one, they have alot on there hands with filming, they are trying to get it all done so they are filming alot at once.

The ring is a big clue as to what is coming. The Master is ''reborn'' through his ring. Perhaps all his regeneration energy was poured into the ring?? Instead of a chameleon arch in the shape of a watch - he changed it into a ring??
Also, the title of the next episode gives a lot away: The Waters of Mars
Its an anagram of: Wars of The Master
As the rings being picked out of the fire you can here The Master laughing - this somehow indicates a victory!!

Nah dude he is coming back, because in planet of the dead, the phycic women says to the doctor "take care of yourself, because your soul is entering the dark, and sombody is searching for you, he will knock 4 times" and The Master does that tapping thing with his fingers, 4 times so that is what she is onna bout.

I think that the master is actualy gunna come back and regenerate david's doctor into matt's doctor. Because at the enbd of planet of the dead the lady said that he would knock 4 times and the masters sound of drums beat was a 4 beat thing so i think he might come back. i hope he does xD loved this vid. and the song xD

i love this song...nice video. I'd love for the Master to return as long as David Tennant can be in the episode properly not like last time. I'm sure the screen will cope with the personality of the Doctor AND the Master so have them both on at once.

I like the idea of a edgier darker version of simm's master... trapping him in the victorian era would be cool as well. Imagine a slightly 'jokerish' feel... the master on a bad day rather than his fairly triumphant time he had previously.
A bearded but messy master might be cool as well... plus it'd be nice to reintroduce him in a story like this to return again later.

Russle wanted to leave it open for a future writer. He has no plans of bringing back the Master. It mentions it on the commentary. Russle mocks the idea that us fans think he is coming back
However this has probably changed. I wouldn't be surprised. Back in Series 2 russle said he would never ever bring back The Master. Then he did.
Russle also said Rose, Donna and Jack would never come back. But Donna and Jack have been seen on set

The ring could be like the watch that held the Doctor's consciousness in "The Family"; with The Master's consciousness "infecting" whoever wears the ring.
Course, since the new series includes the "Doctor Who" movie as canon, The Master probably has a whole bunch of ways to come back without regenerating

My own take on the whole Master dying / ring thing is that he had the whole thing worked out with his wife in advance - recognising that the Doctor would probably defeat him (hey, it's not like the Doctor hasn't defeated him before), he planned an escape via a faked death / consciousness in the ring thing. After all, there was no precursor to his wife just coldbloodedly murdering him - they seemed to be getting on just fine then suddenly, the Doctor wins and she 'kills' him.
