ive raced my buddy gt 10000000s...i always pull like 3 - 4 cars on him...rolling on heavy ass 20s and a system in the back. stock vs stock .... Z wins end of story.
It's because of the wide engine. My Mazda 6 V6 does the same thing. The wheels can't turn too much, otherwise they would hit the side of the block. My turning radius is SUV-like.
No, they don't, unless you mean an old 2003-2005 Z with the DE motor, which dyno at about 240whp. The HR motor cars dyno at 265-270, and no eclipse is putting that out stock.
that's because it does, it has a 40ft. turning circle, which makes it stable at high speeds but undesteers like crazy at low speeds. I had a 3rd Gen GT and i literallly had to start pulling the E-Brake in traffic for U-Turns because too make a U urn it takes a 3 pt.turn. Horrid!
well not to insult you but you probably need to get to know your car a bit better, now what i mean by that is the surrounding of your car. just like any other car,truck van ect. you have to pin point the exact time when to turn into a parking space.
the eclipse is not faster than 350Z but dont underestimate the new eclipse, its faster than s2000, wrx and G35 and maybe faster than acura RL, but eclipse is not a girls car and if it is girls will love your car, anyway both are great to pick up girls
yeah, horses-wise NO the eclipse is not faster BUT the eclipse is way lighter than the 350z and the 300 horses that the Z has makes up for the weight with on the other hand you got the eclipse with 263 horses with a lighter body to it which makes up for the 37 horses it doesn't have vs. the Z and makes it a VERY intense race. I got a black GT eclipse fully loaded and it has yet to disappoint.
You forget that even tho it has less HP... which means nothing because Mitsu WANTED that ammount of HP. Even with less HP stock wise they are so similiar. And the eclipse is a lot heavier. If you look at it, even the Stock EVO MR is only 300 HP... They could care less how much HP they give the car, its all about how well engineered it is. The only thing nissan has is the GTR.
What do you mean, the only thing? Last time I checked, the 350Z was one of the best reviewed and received sports cars for the money. The eclipse? Usually called poor-man's Z.
Besides, the only Z that the eclipse is similar in performance to is the 03-06 ones. 07-08 are out of its league with the 1/4 times.
Btw, Mitsubishi certainly cares about how much hp the evo has. Otherwise it wouldn't be making 300hp out of a 2.0 liter at the expense of turbo lag. It would be 250hp, with better response.
I really can't believe your so stuck up about your Z. Dude, with the 10 grand I SAVED. I put injens cat system on my eclipse. Ripps supercharged stage 2 system and every other bolt possible. Thats only 7 grand i spent. And i reduced the weight of my car by 230 pounds approx. Hp is close to 570. We can't talk about appearances because they are both great looking cars. But i'll take any Z on a drag strip any day. Mitsu does not change their eclipse every 4 years anymore. They dont even sell in JP.

Sounds like you have a nice car, although I seriously doubt the 570hp thing. First off, I'm not even sure that the stock eclipse motor can handle that much, and second, that's more of a turbo number. In order to run that much with a s/c, you'd need a ton of boost and a lot of supporting mods, which would be a lot of money. Certainly more than 7 grand.
Supercharger brought it up to 450, with the headers and exhaust was another 40-50 hp. The last time i dynoed this is was 533WHP. I'm getting the other 37 HP from a friend who almost messed up my computer. But he did a good job tunning it. The supercharger was 4,000 dollars. I'm hoping to shed some weight when my carbon fiber kit comes. I don't bad mouth 350z because it is a respectable car. I only have 22 thousand miles on my 06 eclipse. I don't even drive it often.
I can't floor it from the start. I could not do it stock either. But once over 15 or 20 MPH... It flies... i had to get EBC yellowstuff brake pads and rotors just to be extra careful. My friend has a supercharged 350z.... we go at it all the time lol. He destroyes me from 0 because i'm stubborn and always floor it.... And i beat him from 20 and 40 MPH because he never redlines... Its complicated lol. Good luck with your 350Z. its a blast to drive that car.

Sorry, but the Z driver wasn't that good. The eclipse is a good car, but it's not going to pull on a car that's capable of low-mid 13's at 107mph and has 265whp stock, where an eclipse has 240whp, and is heavier.
I'd drive an eclipse, but if I ever beat an HR Z, it wouldn't be because my car is faster.
The problem in this race is the drivers is a complete noob, you can tel that he didn't disengage his traction control because his rev's drop off like crazy at launch.
I have a 320whp MR2 which doesnt have traction and with a nice set of Nitto NT01's at all four corners it's actually easy. Only people who can't drive use traction control at launch. It's called feathering the throttle. Hold the wheel steady bring revs up to about 4500, dump the clutch and give it 1/2 throttle until it hooks up, then mash it. Not that hard, buddy.
what are you talking about no one ever said anything about the eclipse. The debate was over the 350's launch, which I have launched. A TT one at that. also a modestly poered FWD car is SO easy to launch that any 16 y/o with a license can do.
When I say easy I mean it as a relative term. I FWD cars you pretty much bring up the revs and punch it until it stops spinning and hold the wheel steady. In FWD cars you don't have to worry about the rear stepping out and jettisonning into the crowd. They are EASIER than RWD is what I should have said. By comparison they are easy, because you don't have to feather the throttle all you have to worry about is tq steer and shift points. drive a RWD car an have it skate on you, and you'll see.
I've read many magazines showing that Z's are faster than the new eclipse...i have an 06 GT eclipse and not only i've tried different Z's to race also G37's, G35's they were never faster...People still forget the fact that gears and differentials are a major against the Z...it looks like it's about the same but in a real comparison the eclipse can be faster than a stock z

I've had every eclipse except the first gen, I had a gst, a 2004 gts v6 and the nes eclipse v6 GT spyder and the new eclipse is capable of beating a 350Z but the Z is supossed to beat the eclipse, I have never lost to a 350z
i'm the one that took this video and i can tell you that this was not the only race between this 2, that night they race like 12 time, the Z with different driver(more experiense) and the eclipse always won!!!
Stock for Stock with equal drivers the Z will win every fair race. I've owned a 03 and now own a 06. My buddy has an 07 and he pulls my 06 every time.
I once read it in a magazine, that's why i bougth a '07 eclipse gt(std) and when i went to check it out it was true, there is plenty of torque and hp's (293hps and 295lbs.ft)
That´s why the eclipse is as fast as the Z, i´ve check it out myself
The Z has not more hps than the Eclipse, nissan has tried to rise the power forcing the engine of the Z to impress you but they just can't raise the torque 'cause it has remained, 268lbs nissan says, while the mitsu is supposed to have 260lbs, but if you take an eclipse to check in the dynamometer it will show up 295lbs.ft while with the Z it will show up a few lbs.ft more (2 or 3) due to the diference of engine size (3.5 vs 3.8).
My Eclipse GT 07 can take any stock 350Z off the line but when it comes to high speed our shit starts walk from 80 mph and tops out a 135 mph. But still we kill and everyone always thinks im boosting or spraying engine size does matter for those who say it doesn't.

The only thing this shows is that the Z driver wasn't good, since he got outlaunched by a fwd car.
The eclipse engine isn't as advanced as the Z motor. It's 3.8 liters, iron block, and less hp than even the older 280hp Z.
2007 350Z = 306hp out of 3.5 liters, 2007 Eclipse = 270 out of 3.8?

the mitsubishi's motors always produce alot of power.. i dont know why
