The Jews of Medina were there cuz they knew the last Prophet would come there, as their traditions told them. They had distorted the fact that He would be an Ishmaelite, the Israelites brothers from Father Abraham, who Allah said would be blessed, a great nation, under the covenant of circumcission, and a Prophet. Like the Quran says they knew Muhammad(s.a.w.a.) As they knew their own sons. They rejected out of arrogance knowing fully well he was the final Prohet sent to the world.

If Muhammad had been a true prophet of God, both the Jews and Christians would have ran to embrace Muhammad's teachings but instead they knew Muhammad was never a prophet of God so Muhammad killed them.
