This is completely and utterly outstanding!!!!! My idea of spending $120+ on bway tickets is seeing something that make you think and changes you in some way and you find something that you least expected and mainly that it "WOW"s me. It was a cool feeling to even watch this on YouTube because I wasn't thinking about her fingers or her shoes or her face- I was just embracing the performance she gave and soaking it up!!! Patti you never let me down!! She is one amazing woman and I am honored to
I love hearing different versions of this number, and Patti LuPone's version in this video DEFINITELY stands out as the very worst I've ever heard. Shockingly bad. Even if your voice is shot, attempting to compensate by barking and screaming the song in a hyper-melodramatic manner is amateurish and VERY ill-advised. Yeeeeeeesh....
I'm sad enough to have just about every performance of this song and lucky enough to have seen Patti LuPone singing it live. She is totally a performer and no she's not drunk - she's just having a mental breakdown eight times a week, while still singing her heart out! I've never met her, don't expect I will, but this is probably the best and most thought out version of the show and the mother. I don't take cameras to live performances, because it's not the done thing, but sadly I like watching!
Thanks for posting this. I LOVED Patti in Gypsy and she deserved the Tony. This is definitely the best song in the show. I was fortunate enough to see this show two times and both times Patti received a standing ovation after the song. First time I have ever seen a song get a standing ovation and to see it both times was amazing.
there is no comparison! Patti Destroyed anyone that came before her..saw her in theis incredible role..the show with Bernadette recieved horrible notices, and Patti Won the Tony for best performance..hell, the entire cast did..
Pattii LuPone never fails to prove the reason she is a star. She is so down to earth and gutsy.. Some where in a show she is going to enrapture you with a moment when you know why you plunked down the bucks to see a Broadway show. This "Rose's Turn" is a home Run!!!
"If I could a been, I would a been." Wow.. I saw Ms. LuPone do this twice.. and enjoyed both performences (one being the pre-Broadway Encores run). I really love Patti in anything.. and was intrigued by this, after all who doesn't love Sondheim/Robbins/Styne/Laurents and or LuPone? Anyway.. I don't think I truly understood LuPone's performance until someone on youtube said something like this was a "psychotic breakdown".. Oh, I get it! Divine!! Yes, I agree! She brought it!
I thought you did it for me Mama. I thought you'd like making a no talent ox like me into a star because you like doing things the hard way Mama. Well you don't have talent. Not what I call talent. If I let it out, if I let out whats inside of me there wouldn't lights bright enough, there wouldn't be signs big enough. Here she is boys, here she is World. Here's ROSE!
You are not theater critics so don't bs about everything you hate. She is perfect and she won a fucking tony so shut the fuck up and have some respect!
a lil messy! shes got the voice, but acting's a lil over the top, no sensual, no charisma, too overdramatic, wish every line were a suttle feeling of what every line should say. dont get me wrong, i love Pattis voice.
Rosalind Russell only did some of the singing in the film version of 'Gypsy'. Much of the singing was dubbed by singer Lisa Kirk. Obviously, the physical portrayal was all Russell's, but the score was beyond her singing ability. I wish we could get a look at Merman's work in the role; after all it was written for her specifically. There are clips of her singing "Rose's Turn" here on YouTube, but no video. LuPone's over-the-top portrayal is perfect for the stage; it would be different for film.
Anyone who likes the performance of Peters or anyone else better really needs to read a little bit about the REAL Mama Rose... who actually WAS deranged.
I really like the fierceness of her voice.... But I still like Bernadette's version because I can feel the emotion on a much higher scale than Patti's. But it's really good....
@dRICT I feel like for the general audience to be able to empathize with the character Bernadette's version is the one that can really relate, but for those who have had this kind of experience first hand with their own mothers would probably be able to feel Patti's version strongly, like it strikes close to the heart because her breakdown is so extreme
Fascinating performance (and the lady did win a Tony, for goodness' sake!). For those who find this too strident (and I feel a bit that way), it is worthwhile reading a bit about the real life Rose, who was perfectly fierce (and maybe a murderer...). Patti does a great job - and so does Bernadette Peters in a very different way.
Roz Russell in the 1960's movie nailed this role!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Patty is so strident and one dimensional angst. So hard to view and listen to her! Horrible ego driven performance. Just dreadful! No subtlety what so ever!
@DrAMaSpazRRr Eh, Roz couldn't sing, but she was a far better actress than Bette. Conceptually, Bette seems like an ideal Rose; however, she suffered from bad direction and over-the-top choices. Her adaption of "Gypsy" was simply a failure as it wasn't cinematic at all.
I love Patti, but she's supposed to be having a mental breakdown over losing her child, not missing the spotlight. I love the way Bernadette does it. The way she accentuates certain phrases and shows the flow of thoughts and emotions through the song is incredible. Peters developed the character into a mother who was aching over losing her child realizing for the first time that she deserves to care for herself rather than her kids. Peters owns this role.
@madrosee94 Woahh...Rose is not at a loss for her children here. It's her coming to terms with her lifelong need to be noticed. She's living out the fantasy that always crept in the back of her head; she's convinced it was always about her children, not her. So now, it *will* be about her (despite the fact that it always has been). She isn't aching for the loss of her children. And only expresses remorse when she considers how much she felt she did for them; that they had no right to abandon her
@madrosee94 (2). While yes, different interpretations are fun, Rose isn't having a breakdown over the losing her children (after all, she's still in denial at this point that it was her who drove them away), she's having a breakdown because she feels deep pain over never being noticed or thanked for what she did for them. And this leads to her bitterness that she was never noticed in the first place. This entire number is all about the desire to be a star that she's always had.
@BrochtrupBean She only mourns the loss of her children materially, not maternally. It's what they meant to her as far as a career and showbusiness, but not out of any true personal affection. She misses what she gained from having them; not because they're her daughters and she misses them.
This revival of GYPSY should've been nominated for Best Book of a Musical all over again and should've won. The way this cast dug the words out of that book like it was all brand new. Outstanding.
I don't like Patti and I'm here for a laugh. I love the way she slurs her words. Diction is not a strong point for her. And the over-the-top snarling delivery mangles everything. She's hilarious!
I'm pretty sure momma is not supposed to be drunk in this scene!
I don't like Patti and I'm here for a laugh. I love the way she slurs her words. Diction is not a strong point for her. And the over-the-top snarling delivery mangles everything. She's hilarious!
Saw LuPone in this awesome revival of what I think--some 52 yr after it was written-remains the greatest American musical. Patti LuPone is a double-threat: a powerhouse singer with the acting chops to match. And THAT is the reason why she was able to deliver this "high watermark" of musical theater with such truth. The standing ovation she received that afternoon (April 2008) in the St. James Theater is probably the most deserved standing ovation I will likely ever see--and be part of.
@011FunnyBunny are you kidding? It's supposed to be all over the place! Rose is having a complete mental breakdown! It's not supposed to be "together". If anything Peters (love her to death) didn't go far enough, she wasn't "talkin' loud, getting hot, letting loose, LETTING GO"
@janjalick i realize she is having a break down but as far as song, i feel she was too off and not orderly at all. I'm just saying I feel Bernadette did alot better,
@janjalick Well, your opinion's your opinion, so I won't dispute it (as I'm a Peters fanatic), however, it's not even arguable that Peters' Rose was "gettin' hot"......I mean, C'MON, it's PETERS.
piep - that's an amazing thing.... I also loved seeing the rawness of Patti's performance. After seeing so many of her performances - she honestly is a real actress. Not some broadway belt singer! This woman is not afraid to show her dark side as well as her good side.
Lets be real here, her vocals are good, but no where near as good as I know she can do. Her acting is ok? but its over done and she doesnt grasp the character. how many people do you know that would react the way she does when they've finally had a revelation that gets them angry? Its so overdone. Shes a sloppy mess but not in a realistic way, unlike peters who gave a real performance. Yes she won the tony but lets look at who she was nominated with, there was no one else who could of gotten it
@Ajrockholt Overdone? This is a tremendously dramatic number. Rose is having a nervous breakdown. Nervous breakdowns are messy, ugly, and big. Lupone captures the moment perfectly.
One of my favorite live theatre experiences was watching Ms. Patti LuPone KILL this song! The audience was so into her performance the standing ovation after this lasted for about 2 minutes and she was in character just eating it up! AMAZING!
I'm sorry but I just can't seem to love Patti's version of Mama Rose as much as I love say... Bernadette Peters or Tyne Daly!!
both of those women truly became Mama Rose and brought so much vigor and reality to the part! but no matter how much I try the ONLY thing I ever like Patti in is Evita!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The difference between Bernadette's Rose and Patti's, is that Patti WAS Rose. While Bernadette did a great job of playing the character, she was not Rose
I didn't like it at first but... Pattie version has grown on me :) The same with Midler's, at first I thought it was very forced and over the top, but now I dont mind it
Wow! Patti has eaten and chewed the cud of the entirety of the scenery. Granted "Rose's Turn" gives the actress a chance to digest and regurgitate the whole of Gypsy, but this particular performance is a bit too much. Ethel Merman, bless her dear departed soul, would say, "Tone it down a little!" And God knows Ethel knew how to chew some scenery.
what most ppl dont understand is that if you have a stage mom which im sure most ppl watching this video do, they literally act this way. patti really did capture the who mannerisms and personality of a stage mom and watching this actually made me cry because it reminded me spot on of my mom and the pity i felt for her ignorance when it comes to being a stage mom.
i think she puts too much crazy into this performance, though to be fair, this part is very hard to do
you need to be able to balance the crazy, the sadness, the anger, and how much pity the audience should feel for you, i think that she ads too much crazy, though she can sing very well
Wow I never say this one. I have seen different performances of it and she is literally break down here. Wow at one point I even said woah back up someone is loosing it. Perfect how can you love her?!?!
Leave it to the great Patti Lupine to care more about capturing the anguish of Mama Rose than doing a big broadway musical number. This is a glorious role that any actress would be lucky to get and though we all have our favorites, I think each lady (besides Peters who is completely miscast) brings something to the role. For me, though, the desperation, hurt, and sadness is more important than anything. Only Roz & Patti seem to understand this.
WOW!!! Tragically, I missed this, but would have loved to have seen her in this role. She is an unbelievable talent and this is a role to really showcase her might. Thanks for posting!
This woman sounds totally retarded. I am laughing my ass off listening to this. She is as subtle as a tsunami. All I hear is The Patti LuPone Show starring Gypsy. I do not hear Rose at all. I can actually hear the click, click, click of the wheels turning in her head as she sings this. And for those of you who say you had to see her live...I did. Both at City Center and on Broadway because my dear friend played Tulsa in both productions. She is awful. Period. Bernadette needs to mentor her.
@KellyBevel hahahaaa im sorry im literally laughing out loud right now- not only because you just said that Patti was awful, but also because you think BP is BETTER! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA THAT IS RICH. IF YOU PLAN ON RIDICULING THE GREATS, AT LEAST USE A LITTLE COMMON SENSE...BP<PATTI
. Also I would appreciate if you didn't use the word "retarded" in a negative way, it's offensive to others. Thank you.
@paigex841 Well lets see, it took Patti almost 30 years to win her second Tony Award...it took Bernadette only 12. Bernadette's production of Gypsy made more money, ran over a year and her cast recording won a Grammy. LuPone may have won a "sympathy" Tony, but her production was a financial failure and closed before her contract was even up. Had Sam Mendes not directed Bernadette's Gypsy, Arthur Laurents would never have made this "revenge production" of Gypsy with LuPone. He admitted this.
@Brathford Your math is totally irrelevant, as is the attempt to validate by awards. It is all relative to the competition and the last revival was too soon for a general audience to run and see. The Mendes production was HORRID and Peters was disgracefully awful. Her pipsqueak voice and lack of acting skills were painful...and I LOVE her in the right role but Rose was not it. LuPone had the right set of balls even though her singing was sometimes painful. And Patti was very funny.
@pudgeuncle Obviously it is you who does not understand. Arthur Laurents chose Bernadette to play Rose and June Havoc went on record saying Bernadette was the most like the real Rose out of everyone to ever play her. I think they are more qualified than you. Wow...how embarrassing!
@KellyBevel You have your "facts" wrong dearie. And I bet you didn't actually see Peters, the worst Rose I have ever seen, including bad summer stock. And EVERY review in NY was negative except for Ben Brantley. Do your homework sweetie. And if ..and I say...if ,Havoc made the comment you allege, what does that have to do with the quality of her performance? I bet you think Cats is great theater dearie.
@Brathford Bernadette(who I love)is a New York Italian,so she fits into what they want for Broadway.Patti LuPone(even though born in the US)is a European Italian. She said herself that Italians from Europe are more over the top than Americans, which is why when she wins awards she gets awards for roles that need to be played over the top. That's who Patti is.Even still how long it takes to get awards has nothing to do with how good they are. There are people who do great plays and don't get awards.
@KellyBevel WAS A LUNATIC STAGE MOTHER SUPPOSED TO BE SUBTLE?! NO. dumbass. Mama Rose was MENTALLY INSANE. like, she was ACTUALLY INSANE, im not exagerrating. google her life and you will say to yourself "wtf?" bernadette peters just had a singing voice, this woman could ACT IT.
@ugha323a Ethel's vocals WERE better than Patti's.I like Patti's voice more than Ethels's for some reason but Ethel was a classic performer.Patti got the charcter of Rose and no-one else has found it.I like her version because she shows the many things that Mama was mad at.Yes, they are hard to find. I know one who would be great! She is the director of the theatre I am in and has the voice and acting skills for it.She did shows in Chicago like EVITA and GUYS&DOLLS.You would be good too! :)
@ugha323a It is more important that Rose is a great actress than singer. I have seen countless productions over the years and a Rose who can't act is much more painful.
@AmericaLoudNClear You're joking right? If you ask any professional actress why she wants to play Rose, it's the acting that holds the most appeal, as magnificent as the score is. I have seen all 4 revivals and endless tours and other productions, including stage managing the great Delores Gray, and this is primarily a role for an actress. She hardly even sings in act two until the end.
@megan132 Rose actually is not insane but as written she has a narcissistic personality. The moment where she shows her least insight is when she asks Herbie "Why does everybody walk out?" in act two. LuPone's acting was phenomenal, the very first time I have liked her in anything. Her final moment, when she looked back at the audience with such a pained look, haunts me. That was perfection. Peters, however, made me want to go to a hypnotherapist to erase the memory.
@pudgeuncle " In later life, Rose had opened a lesbian boardinghouse in a ten-room apartment on West End Avenue in New York City. This property and a farm in Highland Mills, New York, had been rented for Mother Rose by Gypsy Lee. Rose shot and killed one of her guests (according to Erik Preminger, she killed her own lover, who had made a pass at Gypsy) at the boardinghouse. This incident was explained as a suicide." if you dont call that crazy, i dont know what is...
Glee was the first time I heard this song, but I do know about Gypsy's story. Never been able to watch the show or listen to the music. That's not the point. I'm going thru some of the videos of this song and this is the first I listen the desperation this song I THINK has to have. Rose should be pissed, disappointed and desperate of course! I think this is the way I'd like to see this song performed <3
We saw her on Broadway in this show...second row center..and she blew the audiance away,,,we were on our feet before she even finished the song!!!...she stopped the show with number!!!......we waited at the stage door after the show...got to meet her and got her autograph!!!...she was AWESOME!!!!!
@Dalthis555 hahaha after the way she yelled at the guy with the camera who took her picture, i hear ya lol terrified however im so glad somebody did! i wish they released this production on dvd i would buy it in a second!!
i think her performance here is a little better here than on the recording. It wasn't as exaggerated her. I love her facial expression and how she sang some of the lines here.
Rose, when singing and acting out "Rose's Turn", needs to be angry, spiteful, hurt, cold, bitter and abandoned. On, "Hello everybody, my name's Rose. What's yours?", she's actually mocking Gypsy Rose Lee when she introduces herself, so in some instances, she kind of has to be a little immature and mocking.
she gets angry and its the real shit angry not the fake hollywood angry, the kind of angry where you dont care how you sound or if you look pretty. the kind where youre obsessed with getting your emotions out
@Kamberlyn shes a diva, she has stopped a show because someone took a picture of her. She is that amazing that she can be a diva plenty of broadways divas will do that. But patti inparticular will kill you haha
@Kamberlyn lupone got mad, NOT because she is a diva, but because the theatre NEEDS to be respected. the staff outside the theatre CLEARLY SAID, NO CAMERA'S OR VIDEOS OF ANY SORTS. she wants to keep the theatre respected, not thrown away like a peice of garbage where people think they can do whatever they want to do. although, i do enjoy watching these videos, :} teheheheheheh.
@megan132 As an actor I also understand her, but it is also kinda hypotrical from me given that I spend most of my free time watching theatre videos :P
Oh Patti, I bow down to all the talent that you took and all the talent that you deprived the rest of the world of. I mean that in the most admiring way.
In the Name of Lippa, Sondheim, and the almighty Lupone AMEN!! Haha. 1. Idk how you got this video without her murdering you but kudos. 2. She is my all time favorite Rose. Ethel gave the role life, Bernadette breathed into it new vitality Liza made it her very own, in a quick wink to Glee I'll say that Chris may have brought this number to fans who would've never listened to it otherwise(tho his was in diff context) but above all others... Patti...Patti is irreplaceable.
out of all the versions of this song that ive heard and seen, this one and a highschool version are my favorite. the glee version was put into a different context and shouldnt be compared to this because of that
Say that I got to see her live and sing don't cry for me arg. And everything's coming up roses and a bunch of other cool stuff that was amazing!!

011FunnyBunny 9 months ago 4
@011FunnyBunny are you kidding? It's supposed to be all over the place! Rose is having a complete mental breakdown! It's not supposed to be "together". If anything Peters (love her to death) didn't go far enough, she wasn't "talkin' loud, getting hot, letting loose, LETTING GO"
janjalick 8 months ago
@janjalick i realize she is having a break down but as far as song, i feel she was too off and not orderly at all. I'm just saying I feel Bernadette did alot better,
011FunnyBunny 8 months ago
@janjalick Well, your opinion's your opinion, so I won't dispute it (as I'm a Peters fanatic), however, it's not even arguable that Peters' Rose was "gettin' hot"......I mean, C'MON, it's PETERS.

piep - that's an amazing thing.... I also loved seeing the rawness of Patti's performance. After seeing so many of her performances - she honestly is a real actress. Not some broadway belt singer! This woman is not afraid to show her dark side as well as her good side.

dont like it sorry
JAYCREEPBITCH 9 months ago
Lets be real here, her vocals are good, but no where near as good as I know she can do. Her acting is ok? but its over done and she doesnt grasp the character. how many people do you know that would react the way she does when they've finally had a revelation that gets them angry? Its so overdone. Shes a sloppy mess but not in a realistic way, unlike peters who gave a real performance. Yes she won the tony but lets look at who she was nominated with, there was no one else who could of gotten it
Ajrockholt 9 months ago
@Ajrockholt Overdone? This is a tremendously dramatic number. Rose is having a nervous breakdown. Nervous breakdowns are messy, ugly, and big. Lupone captures the moment perfectly.

Sorry but I'm allowed my opinion!

The difference between Bernadette's Rose and Patti's, is that Patti WAS Rose. While Bernadette did a great job of playing the character, she was not Rose

@KeepItGayStageNazi Bernadette Peters absolutely became Rose. Patti LuPone did as well, but Peters disappears into every role she tackles.

KellyBevel 1 year ago
@KellyBevel hahahaaa im sorry im literally laughing out loud right now- not only because you just said that Patti was awful, but also because you think BP is BETTER! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA THAT IS RICH. IF YOU PLAN ON RIDICULING THE GREATS, AT LEAST USE A LITTLE COMMON SENSE...BP<PATTI
. Also I would appreciate if you didn't use the word "retarded" in a negative way, it's offensive to others. Thank you.
paigex841 1 year ago
@paigex841 Well lets see, it took Patti almost 30 years to win her second Tony Award...it took Bernadette only 12. Bernadette's production of Gypsy made more money, ran over a year and her cast recording won a Grammy. LuPone may have won a "sympathy" Tony, but her production was a financial failure and closed before her contract was even up. Had Sam Mendes not directed Bernadette's Gypsy, Arthur Laurents would never have made this "revenge production" of Gypsy with LuPone. He admitted this.
Brathford 1 year ago
@Brathford Your math is totally irrelevant, as is the attempt to validate by awards. It is all relative to the competition and the last revival was too soon for a general audience to run and see. The Mendes production was HORRID and Peters was disgracefully awful. Her pipsqueak voice and lack of acting skills were painful...and I LOVE her in the right role but Rose was not it. LuPone had the right set of balls even though her singing was sometimes painful. And Patti was very funny.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@pudgeuncle Obviously it is you who does not understand. Arthur Laurents chose Bernadette to play Rose and June Havoc went on record saying Bernadette was the most like the real Rose out of everyone to ever play her. I think they are more qualified than you. Wow...how embarrassing!
KellyBevel 1 year ago 3
@KellyBevel You have your "facts" wrong dearie. And I bet you didn't actually see Peters, the worst Rose I have ever seen, including bad summer stock. And EVERY review in NY was negative except for Ben Brantley. Do your homework sweetie. And if ..and I say...if ,Havoc made the comment you allege, what does that have to do with the quality of her performance? I bet you think Cats is great theater dearie.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@Brathford Bernadette(who I love)is a New York Italian,so she fits into what they want for Broadway.Patti LuPone(even though born in the US)is a European Italian. She said herself that Italians from Europe are more over the top than Americans, which is why when she wins awards she gets awards for roles that need to be played over the top. That's who Patti is.Even still how long it takes to get awards has nothing to do with how good they are. There are people who do great plays and don't get awards.
broadwayloverny10 1 year ago
@broadwayloverny10 Um.....no. That made no sense.
KellyBevel 1 year ago
@KellyBevel What makes no sense? The fact that I saw there is an different between European Italians and American Italians?
broadwayloverny10 1 year ago
@broadwayloverny10 Peters is from Queens, LuPone from Long Island. What's the dif? I'm from Brooklyn and I see any distinction as bs.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@pudgeuncle No I'm not saying the difference between where they come from, but the way they act..never mind you will never get it. :)
broadwayloverny10 1 year ago
@KellyBevel WAS A LUNATIC STAGE MOTHER SUPPOSED TO BE SUBTLE?! NO. dumbass. Mama Rose was MENTALLY INSANE. like, she was ACTUALLY INSANE, im not exagerrating. google her life and you will say to yourself "wtf?" bernadette peters just had a singing voice, this woman could ACT IT.
megan132 1 year ago
@megan132 You are so correct. Patti took this role to a level that nobody else did.
crazyforfire 1 year ago
@crazyforfire
She did well, her acting way better than Merman, but her singing not as strong, not at all.
This is not an acting part, it is a singing part, the acting is secondary, which is why they hardly EVER find a good Mama Rose.
ugha323a 1 year ago
@ugha323a Ethel's vocals WERE better than Patti's.I like Patti's voice more than Ethels's for some reason but Ethel was a classic performer.Patti got the charcter of Rose and no-one else has found it.I like her version because she shows the many things that Mama was mad at.Yes, they are hard to find. I know one who would be great! She is the director of the theatre I am in and has the voice and acting skills for it.She did shows in Chicago like EVITA and GUYS&DOLLS.You would be good too! :)
crazyforfire 1 year ago
@ugha323a It is more important that Rose is a great actress than singer. I have seen countless productions over the years and a Rose who can't act is much more painful.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@pudgeuncle
Rose is the star of the show. She better sing very well and at least act a bit. Its the songs that are remembered
AmericaLoudNClear 1 year ago
@AmericaLoudNClear You're joking right? If you ask any professional actress why she wants to play Rose, it's the acting that holds the most appeal, as magnificent as the score is. I have seen all 4 revivals and endless tours and other productions, including stage managing the great Delores Gray, and this is primarily a role for an actress. She hardly even sings in act two until the end.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@megan132 Rose actually is not insane but as written she has a narcissistic personality. The moment where she shows her least insight is when she asks Herbie "Why does everybody walk out?" in act two. LuPone's acting was phenomenal, the very first time I have liked her in anything. Her final moment, when she looked back at the audience with such a pained look, haunts me. That was perfection. Peters, however, made me want to go to a hypnotherapist to erase the memory.
pudgeuncle 1 year ago
@pudgeuncle " In later life, Rose had opened a lesbian boardinghouse in a ten-room apartment on West End Avenue in New York City. This property and a farm in Highland Mills, New York, had been rented for Mother Rose by Gypsy Lee. Rose shot and killed one of her guests (according to Erik Preminger, she killed her own lover, who had made a pass at Gypsy) at the boardinghouse. This incident was explained as a suicide." if you dont call that crazy, i dont know what is...

i think her performance here is a little better here than on the recording.
