Ames did not disrespect Tiger. He said: "Anything can happen (in matchplay), especially where Tiger hits it".
Given that Tiger was ranked 165th in driving accuracy, & that matchplay is notoriously unpredictable, it was a fair enough comment.

But I do think some people - Tiger included - took Ames's comment a bit too seriously.
