Easy Normal Map Creation in Maya 2009

is there a easy way to adjust your front facing camera so that it lines up perfectly with the edges of your plane?

Hey Andrew. I have never felt the need to register with youtube, but I needed to thank you, so here I am posting my first comment. This little tutorial is excellent and was EXACTLY what I was looking for, and what I needed. It is still very relevant and it all works the same on Maya2012. Thank you so much for posting this useful bit of information in such a thorough and easy to follow manner. My normals are looking great thanks to you.

You also have to go into the bump2d node and switch it from "Bump" to "Tangent Space Normals" when you load the normal map. Every tutorial I've ever seen on normal mapping skips that step for some reason :(
