  • There's a British film called "Bloody New Year" (1987), very similar setup to "Death Ship" but instead it's a haunted island resort perpetually stuck in New Year's Eve. I bring it up because the ghosts do the same thing; instead of quietly killing people off, they start terrorizing them. There's too many derivatives of the "Evil Dead" movies, "Suspiria", and "The Shining" out there.

  • *sigh* You don't pick good Canadian horror movies by chance. I assure you. There are good ones out there!

  • nuu ahh this movie wasx awsome fuck u voice

  • @kingpin7224 What?

  • Bloodsucking Nazi-Ghost-Ships from hell?! Gimme a break! o.O

  • It really does blow when you have a cool premise and waste it on a lame film.

  • Wow! the iron broke!

  • I thought this was a great movie, when the old lady eats the lollies, then she goes all zombie like, I remember it freaked me out!

  • It would have been better if the hook went into the back of his head and he just swung back and forth throughout the movie.

  • Hell yeah, Christopher Cross.

  • LOL! Hey Watercooler, I actually thought about sending you a message asking you if you'd watch "Death Ship"... At "BadMovies . Org" the character list for this movie states that George Kennedy 'can not have a soul'!

  • this film should be part of a double feature with Ghost Dad

  • yep ghost ship sucks just as much i hated ghost ship too

  • I think it's universally accepted that the first 10 minutes of GHOST SHIP are great, then it sucks and sucks hard.

  • @watercooler

That scene made me afraid of cable wires forever. haha

Hey, I liked the ending. Guess that makes me lame. =)

  • LOL. I was just about to ask if Ghost Ghost Ship was a remake of this film.

  • While I have to say that the 2002 Ghost Ship did suck, the first scene where the wire breaks and cuts everyone in half was awesome. After that you can cut the movie off.

  • Another one that was akways on HBO in the middle of the night back then-- It had some creepy moments, but as you say, it never delivers the goods.

  • I see you got sick of the Witch Craft series LOL

  • haha, the guy looks like he tried to do a one handed handspring but went just a liiiiiiittle too far and screwed up (his fingertips kinda hold on to the floor) then he lands the wrong way, his head being where his feet should be

  • What's with these movies not being on DVD, there's worse movies that are.

  • The worst thing about Ghost Ship is that it had all kinds of potential, and I agree, the opening sets up what couldbe an awesome horror flick. But of course, the plot frays and becomes incredibly lame... and fast. Even the part where the entire story of why those people in the opening died as they had and what it was all about, while interesting, just couldn't keep Ghost Ship above water. Another sad case of good on paper, not so much on celluloid.

  • Roflmao that was the best one yet lol.

  • Yeah, the '80s horror movie posters were so awesome. I think my personal favorite is the Friday the 13th one.

  • I totally agree ghost ship made me want to brake the laws of physics just because I thought I would understand the plot better.

  • guy on ground, pulley's still swinging, guy's still on the ground, pulley's still swinging, *sigh* guy STILL on the ground, pulley STILL swinging!

  • lol, i was thinking the same thing, all it needed was Christopher Walken saying: "I gotta have more pulley".

  • I gotcher swingin' pulley right here! ;)

  • I will say this about "Ghost Ship" the opening is cool. The rest is a forgettable mess.

  • Yea the opening was cool, alot of movies around that time had good openings and then whent tits up like house on haunted hill i loved the mental intitute scene and 13 ghosts great scrap yard ghost scene. it must have somthing to do with dark castle movies or something!

  • did that man's body weight break a beam of iron???

  • Aww I liked Ghost Ship :( :P. can honestly not remember why I liked it but now that I think back to it it's probably not one of the better movies out there :P.

  • its so easy to just use Nazis as the bad guys for movies....but unless you actually see Nazi ghosts in this film what was the point of it being a Nazi ghost ship to begin with..guess it makes it more "evil" plus i'm pretty sure the Nazis really only used U-boats during the war....i think....

  • You never see a Nazi or a Nazi ghost. You just hear them and see Nazi stuff around the boat.

  • What kind of a carrier had Richard Crenna?!

  • DEATH SHIP!!!!....waooo, this movie "was" really GOOD in 1980, i mean, what else we had in that time? Maybe now is stupid but then was a pretty cool movie. Can anyone mention one GREAT horror movie from 1980, not 81 or 82 i mean 1980, really? Let me tell you that Death Ship was one of the best horror movies from that year. Now is lame and stupid but then was amazing!!...One campy horror flick! ( the shower scene was awesome...well i was 6)

  • 1980 brought us The Shining, Friday the 13th and The Changeling, the latter being an AMAZING movie.

  • Yep,lol!!.. u r right man The Shining and The Changeling, i'm not sure about Friday the 13th but there were not too many. Do u remember Phantasm(1979)? For the time was great but now i can't stand it, is stupid and goofy. But like i said before i was only 6!

  • D'aaaw man, it seemed like a badass horror story up until the "Home Alone" factor came into play.

Anyways, thanks for making these Watercooler- keeps me going in the morning.

  • This one strikes me as a must-see. No??

  • I agree Ghostship was also awful, except for the first 10 minutes, which is a bloody good fun.

Sadly it goes sharply downhill after that.

  • would have been good if that hook went through the back of his head and left him dangling by nothing but some brain tissue.

  • I was about to say that Death Ship reminded me of Ghost Ship.

    I have watched neither.

  • i just love the music at the end of each of your clips, it always cracks me up! great job

  • the 80's sure made a lot of funky movies

  • my favorite part was when George Kennedy slipped on some Matchbox cars and fell overboard

  • Was that scene even supposed to be scary?

  • Hehehehe, I gotta see that movie!
