@Prairie7777 well if he did any sort of weight and balance before hand he might have figured out that it would have been a good idea to lean the mixture some to get some more power. Not saying that would have saved the situation but he would have had a little more on his side of things.
I think they do... It would be pretty dangerous, for example, to land without flaps... If you come too fast say goodbye to your plane and probably your a** xD
