I don't care about this game of the year deal, but some arguments against Skyward Sword make me wonder if gamers these days know anything about good videogame design...

IF Skyward Sword had an option for a traditional control method then i would agree. Forced motion controls ruined my Zelda experience. The only Zelda title i have been forced to skip EVER.

@reniisgod I guess not everyone is cut out for motion control gaming. One upside traditional controls has over motion is that it's easy enough for anyone to do it unlike the motion control.
@reniisgod you do realize that the motion controls enable a far deeper experience right? its not just button mashing it have much more strategy you need to swing your wiimote in specific angles to hit the enemies and the puzzels are more interactive that way too it got a lot of stuff that simply could not been done with a traditional controller
you know its weird that on G4 death match, SS was up on ACR but at least 30% (last i checked) then they took SS off of all awards except best music and motion controls then removed the percentage meter...... what are they up too :/

@thelinkleonxkennedy2 Reviews arnt entirely credible. I mean I have seen skyrim and it seems to have quite a lot of content including a character creator which zelda doesnt not have. In zelda there isnt much of a variety of weapons or armor. And there are no skill trees to variate gameplay. There are no assassinations missions which give a whole different perspective to games since there not hack n slash missions in skyrim.

dude beat it last week by far the best zelda game ive ever played amazing story and cinematics were amaazing and the most challenging yet fun game ive ever played it totally deserves it
Honestly, my favorite games of the year are Zelda Skyward Sword and Dissidia Duodecim. No one one would consider Duodecim simply because its a handheld game... but its just a very unique game all around. A sequel to an already Perfect RPG/Fighting game hybrid and no other fighting game I know of does this and no other fighting game had me hooked as much as Duodecim. Its also one of the few games I have been playing until Skyward Sword.
Why are 360 and PS3 fanboys so quick to say Zealda Skyward Sword is the last stand for the Wii like that's a bad thing? Like seriously isn't halo 4 the last stand 360 why doesn't everyone constantly point that out?

and oot came in a golden cartrage too and skyward sword comes with a golden controller and if you think back zelda oot was before zelda 1 and zelda skyward sword is before oot making it better than ocarina of time and this will be better because this game is 50 to 100 at the least making it the biggest Zelda ever made.
I know this year will be hard, but i want someone to tell me that if uncharted is soo great, why the 2nd 1 won G.O.T.Y.(that's when they added multiplayer) when the 1st one is great as well? i want a logical explanation, (like the story got more interesting or they fixed something) because to me it got GOTY for the amount of ppl buying it for the multiplayer.

I think this year is tough to choose game of the year, but it would be nice to see a Nintendo game finally beat a FPS game or something for Sony or Microsoft that's not Halo. It's tough for me to choose this year as well since the Halo remake can't be one of the choices since the original won it anyway. Hope Skyward Sword is like the new Zelda Masterpiece. I love Microsoft, but nothing beats Nintendo's RPG or adventure games like Zelda

If we're going to judge the Wii as a console, Skyward Sword is the last swan song. It will win and prove that motion controls will be the next best thing. We will never come back to pressing buttons after playing Skyward Sword.

If GOTY isn't Zelda, it absolutely should be Arkham City, I've been playing the game and it is awesome. I won't crown it yet because I need to play Skyward Sword, but I've played all the big releases so far this year and Arkham City is the best and it's not even a contest. Still though, with two super hyped FPS like MW 3 and BF 3 coming out and with FPS being the favorite of the North American market right now I can't see one of those two not winning. I think it will be BF 3.

Although faces of evil was created by philps it is and was part of the franchise still non the less. Nintendo gave them the rights for 3 zelda games, and 2 mario games. Just like mario has had its fair share of bad games in its franchise. So its Nintendo's fault that those games even exist.
But the thing is, Nintendo had no direct involvement with the development of the CDI games, the licenses were handed to Philips and they were free to do with it what they wanted. I understand that u think that ZSS deserves to be game of the year based on its past history and how its evolved since then and im sure there were alot of comments saying u have to play the game before u can say that but i can say that after playing the game at new york comiccon im not sure if its going to be game of the year based on my experience and what ive seen. after playing it i thought that the controls were way too off beat and the boss was just way to fucking hard for some people......

I kind of feel like we really should wait until the games come out to truly claim superiority, but I think Skyward Sword should be much more of a contender than people give it. And as for personal faves, I'd say Xenoblade should at least be mentioned among those games; like I know it isn't as known or exposed as much as those games, so I don't think it could win, but I think it deserves a nomination or mention.

@TheSethcast gaming this generation was meant to be motion controls. sadly nintendo didnt release motion plus till later on. so the bulk of todays gaming is meant for the more immersive experience. the voice acting, atmosphere, visuals. they want you to feel like you are part of the game. in the game. the next step in that is 1:1 motion control. and this zelda skyward sword is the first major game to be doing that. just like ocarina of time, it will be a poster boy. that is why it deserves it.
@gamereviewsss GOTY of the year is simply just that, game for that year. Quality has everything to with it. TBH I don't see anything in SS that is pushing gaming forward. Hell the next Wii console won't have Wiimote as standard controls so what ever gameplay features SS has due to Wiimote controls will live and die on the Wii since WiiU is all about tablet/controller style gaming. At the end of the day it's all about execution and we simply won't know till after the game is played.

Zelda is the darkhouse to win game of the year for me. But as of now my game of the year is Dark Souls. That game is everything you want and when beating a boss in the game is a amazing feeling cause its all on you. I dont expect any shooters to win n btw since when a fps has anyway?? my list for top play for the rest is Batman, Skyim, Zelda, Uncharted, Sonic generations, COD n BF3 in that order. As of now Dark souls is gonna be tough to beat for me.

Honestly, my favorite games of the year are Zelda Skyward Sword and Dissidia Duodecim. No one one would consider Duodecim simply because its a handheld game... but its just a very unique game all around. A sequel to an already Perfect RPG/Fighting game hybrid and no other fighting game I know of does this and no other fighting game had me hooked as much as Duodecim. Its also one of the few games I have been playing until Skyward Sword.

I think this year is tough to choose game of the year, but it would be nice to see a Nintendo game finally beat a FPS game or something for Sony or Microsoft that's not Halo. It's tough for me to choose this year as well since the Halo remake can't be one of the choices since the original won it anyway. Hope Skyward Sword is like the new Zelda Masterpiece. I love Microsoft, but nothing beats Nintendo's RPG or adventure games like Zelda

If we're going to judge the Wii as a console, Skyward Sword is the last swan song. It will win and prove that motion controls will be the next best thing. If GOTY isn't Zelda, it absolutely should be Arkham City, I've been playing the game and it is awesome. I won't crown it yet because I need to play Skyward Sword, but I've played all the big releases so far this year and Arkham City is the best and it's not even a contest. Still though, with two super hyped FPS like MW 3 and BF 3 coming out and with FPS being the favorite of the North American market right now I can't see one of those two not winning. I think it will be BF 3.

I kind of feel like we really should wait until the games come out to truly claim superiority, but I think Skyward Sword should be much more of a contender than people give it. And as for personal faves, I'd say Xenoblade should at least be mentioned among those games; like I know it isn't as known or exposed as much as those games, so I don't think it could win, but I think it deserves a nomination or mention.

@gamereviewsss I saw the video and I say again....the game is not even out yet. I'm sorry but unless you played the game it's impossible to say it's GOTY. The same goes for people who are saying Skyrim will be GOTY. Did they play it? No they didn't.

@BrooklynOwns well then you clearly dont even understand the video. im not talking about the quality of the game right now. or story. gameplay whatever. im talking about if it will deserve to be. goty should be more then just a good game that you will forget about in a years time. its somehting that pushes gaming forward the poster boy for what gaming will be in the coming years. and that is what skyward sword seems to be doing.

@TheSethcast gaming this generation was meant to be motion controls. sadly nintendo didnt release motion plus till later on. so the bulk of todays gaming is meant for the more immersive experience. the voice acting, atmosphere, visuals. they want you to feel like you are part of the game. in the game. the next step in that is 1:1 motion control. and this zelda skyward sword is the first major game to be doing that. just like ocarina of time, it will be a poster boy. that is why it deserves it.

@gamereviewsss GOTY of the year is simply just that, game for that year. Quality has everything to with it. TBH I don't see anything in SS that is pushing gaming forward. Hell the next Wii console won't have Wiimote as standard controls so what ever gameplay features SS has due to Wiimote controls will live and die on the Wii since WiiU is all about tablet/controller style gaming. At the end of the day it's all about execution and we simply won't know till after the game is played.

Zelda is the darkhouse to win game of the year for me. But as of now my game of the year is Dark Souls. That game is everything you want and when beating a boss in the game is a amazing feeling cause its all on you. I dont expect any shooters to win n btw since when a fps has anyway?? my list for top play for the rest is Batman, Skyim, Zelda, Uncharted, Sonic generations, COD n BF3 in that order. As of now Dark souls is gonna be tough to beat for me.
