This might just be your style of picking, but you got a really tight picking hand

If it is your style in picking then keep it up, but if you find yourself having to strain to play the eight notes in downstroke or strain at all, I would suggest using the fatty part of your thumb and the side of your first knuckle on your index finger...just a suggestion though
