  • You should take this to a retirement home....

  • On the plate, the top row etched the following

    "MOTOR SYREN"

The bottom row is a series of Chinese Character, if translated directly in to english will be something like "EASTERN SEA ELECTRICITY INDUSTRY CO. LTD"

The rest of it is hard to translate. Some of the characters are hard to read.

  • DO OVER!

Show different angles. (Actually, it was moving and starting to show different views!)

How big is it? You should have held it to show perspective.

  • The Siren Sounds Just a little bit on the Weak side...but Cool Nontheless. :-)

  • You might want to take of Nathan and leslie stuff on your tags. Those are horns. Not sirens.

  • I also have horns. Check out my channel here on youtube. BIGMIKESOCAL. Thanks.

  • has anyone noticed it moves from they air when it winds up

  • @ass23ful that because of the vibrations and the sloped ground

  • Duuuuuuude what the fuck? I bet that thing was worth money :(

  • I might be able to use this. Thanks!

  • In the book of revelations "Angels come with trumpet sound" Sirens go off plains show up.

  • o shit

  • lol @ TehFlyGuy. I'm picturing the fan trying to escape from the computer. Sounds and looks like a really REALLY small version of a carter. Pretty weak siren to hear when large B-29's are bombing the hell out of you!

  • that one sucks horrably honastly in scale who would hear that connsidering the massive population pf japan

  • no horns people

  • @TehFlyGuy

You my friend, owe me a coke and a new keyboard.

  • OMG LOL

  • Looks like a bench grinder!

  • you know... iv been a siren fanatic for a LONG time now.. and iv never heard or seen any WWII JAPENESE sirens

  • wow! that was cool! i have always wanted to know how they emitted that kind of sound and now i know, thank you so much! now i want to know how the horns on ships work :P

  • O.O did that siren just move?

  • put ur finger in it!

  • that's what i was thinking......lol

  • iwas thinking that too :)

  • Chop some vegitables..lol...

  • @hotxxxx

One of the guys at my old fire station stuck his finger in the siren on the engine, he lost the tip of his finger.

  • @hotxxxx lol

  • frikin nuts :P

  • did you see that thing move abit to the left? lol

  • its called vibration

  • Sneaky Japs stole the Carter design.

  • Comment removed

  • it is a small, vastly distributed Japanese WWII siren, it sounds like the real thing.....because it is the real thing.

  • he hee i love horns

  • well done. hope u never gotta use it lol

  • Moves around alot, doesn't it?

  • That's cool, I never knew how sirens worked before... Had no idea it was the spinning of those propeller things.

  • nice, works like a charm lol

  • That is cool man. Im a big fan of buying random stuff.

  • Buying random stuff is fun!

  • How much was that bro?

  • I purchased this for around $500usd if I remember it correctly.

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL btw this thing u bought is for what?

  • @qAyyUm , I collect air raid sirens, ship horns, and locomotive horns. Check out my main Youtube channel to see more.

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL very cool :)

  • @BIGMIKESOCAL That is a nice price, where did u get it from?

  • Probably for use inside buildings, etc

  • It was used is several areas in Subic Bay US base in the Phillipines when the base was active. These were mounted on certain key spots on the ship dock and also mounted on the top section of the hanger doors.

  • Does the pitch of it go any higher than in the video?

  • Doesn't sound big enough to be an AIR RAID siren!

  • oh its loud.. just look up thunderbolt 1000

  • I believe it's probably somewhat loud, but it still sounds too small and wimpy--and looks too small--to be anything like a Carter/Gents or a Thunderbolt. (But it looks like a mini Gents/Carter ripoff.)

    Just an opinion, ya know...

  • That's great, Mike! Good find. Where do you get your horns from-Ebay? I've been trying to find one or make one but I can't even get an old electric one to work for me. I can't take one apart and and know what to fix or know why it doesn't work for me. I'd like to try to make a simple one that runs on compressed air with a makeshift diaphragm. Any idea how to learn that stuff? Anything would help. Great videos, Mike.

  • 東海電氣工業株式會社

  • whaaaa

  • no it couldn't have ambulance sirens had a smaller single side fan instead of a twin and its too large to have been put into a ambulance

  • It came of a former U.S.Navy base that was once in the Philippines called Subic Bay.

  • That's a nice siren. I imagine that it took a long time to find one of those, especially being from 1939-1945. keep that thing going, and use that to teach people what things are like way back then.

  • this is a drill... repeat.... this is only a drill

    hahaha nice!

  • how far away could this be herd?

  • The Japanese reads "Tōkai Denki Kōgyō Kabushiki Kaisha" or "Tokai (literally "Eastern Sea") Electric Industrial Joint Stock Corporation." It's written in old Japanese character script used before WWII, making it an authentic find. Really nice!

    How did you power it?

  • i think i will need one of those in my room so i can wake up for school!!

  • yeah you're right xDDDD

  • nice, i want one

  • =O Awesome!

  • i want to have one in my room

  • 1:00 =O IT"S ALIVE!!!!!!

  • Nice drill :P

  • Yeah, Kismo94, The Britis one is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.

  • jap crap british one rules

  • wow very nice

  • These air-raid sirens were modified to power Japanese vehicles. Many Japanese cars today run on a motor that is essentially the same as this siren - with the blades fitted to the crankshaft rather than left free. Small Japanese scooters are basically an air-raid siren on wheels.

  • Yeah, right...

  • where the hell did ya get that at i want one!!

  • Look at it move

  • Godzilla!

  • 東海電気工業

  • Hmm i wonder what wins. That Jap crap or the v8 American siren? Cool siren though! I Wish I had one that loud!

  • lol then sum1 starts a war

  • Something Like Star Wars..............LMAO
