If you take the song for the song itself he does an amazing job!! Just like the job he does as Enjorlas was powerful and amazing..I love the original cast, Michael, Com, Michael Ball are all brilliant in their respective roles. They laid the foundation that led les Miserables to make it to its 25th Anniversary.
Alfie Boe is a super star (saw him on Wednesday) but Michael Maguire does this song in his own way and is also absolutely amazing. He was the original Broadway Enjolras and was fabulousin the 10th anniversary concert. I don't like him singing this as much as other songs but he is a true star!
Bleh, I prefer Anthony Warlow and Ramin Karimloox as Enjorlas. And I like Alfie Boe, but COME ON! You can't beat Colm Wilkinson and his play-do-y mouth
Who in the f is alpie bow??????? Seriously.. is he in the dream cast? I didn't think so. BTW for all the other MORONs ... he won a Tony (Michael Maguire) for inventing the role for Enjorlas... Most of you people here on youtube are so ignorant it is truely amazing and pathetic...
@djonesin1955 Now you are the one who displays his(her) ignorance. Who is Alfie Boe you ask? once you can spell his name look him up on youtube, google him, look for yourself! being upset about other people's comments shouldn't make you say something so ignorant. btw I agree with your assessment of Michael Maguire. I wish he would have participated in the 25th anniversary concert last October in London
In my mind, this guy is Enjorlas. He's everything Enjy is supposed to be; devastatingly beautiful, visiblyt confidant, strong, inspiring...plus, his voice is absolute perfection!
This was a lovely rendition of Bring Him Home. Very powerful and emotional. Bravo, Michael!
OMG!! I had thought I'd heard the finest rendition of this 'Prayer' from 'Les Mis' when I heard Colim Wikinson do it. However...this man Michael Maguier has the voice of a 'god' - -magnificent in all repects! I had heard him in the role of 'Enjolas' and was stunned; but this...this is sheer beauty! Thank you hank you thank you for this recording!
@jsurstru35 You should look Matthew Morrison do it if you like this song. Both versions are truly beautiful but Morrison's might actually be better. Let me know what you think.
I love this song!!! And Michael sings it soo well!! But i listen alot to Les Misérables in Concert so its weird hear him as Jean Valjean, im more used to Enjolras. But he would be a good Valjean!
Wow! I wasn't sure he could do it as I'm used to him being full-fledged baritone. I love Michael's vibrato so damn much. I'm so used to his vibrant, enthusiastic Enjolras though... in this he's too cautious and I don't know why. He can definitely do it. If he did this song again and went all-out he could rival even the best Valjeans!
This is like... Completely not Enjolras... xD Yeah... After seeing him as Enjolras, I just... can't picture him as Valjean...
Though, he does have a beautiful voice. Absolutely beautiful. Technically, it's fantastic. Dynamics are spot on, vowels are great, and I couldn't hear a single misplaced breath. Brilliant head voice and very strong chest voice...
It was great, but the tone quality is distinctly different from what I'm used to hearing in Valjean.
His version of Bring Him Home is beautiful as well. Colm Wilkinson is amazing at this song, as well. I nearly cried at the end, when I saw it on tour and on the revival. Amazing song.
im not trying to compare michael to colm, but i freaking love michael as enjorlas and he needs to make a comeback and i need to see him perform something, somewhere before i die- even if its "jingle bells" or some shit. hed make it awesome.
Why is it people feel compelled to criticize those who can do? Considering all factors, the man does a fine job on a difficult song. I doubt any people who posted negative remarks here, have ever appeared in "Les Miserables", or even worked backstage for that matter. He IS a talented singer. What have you done to even approach his performing credentials?
Don't worry about the naysayers. His voice is beautiful, but in the music world the competition is brutal. I saw on his web page that he just graduated from Law School! So we may not get to hear this voice in a stage production again. I hope I'm wrong.
Most singers need a day job to support the singing. And they love to sing. Americans have tin ears and would rather listen to music that has no notes? Know what I mean? Shout and curse and talk filthy. STUPID

Everyone realizes this is a whole step lower than the original key, right? I like his voice until he rises above the passagio--sounds like around E-flat. He puts all the sound in his nose and it loses resonance. Anthony Warlow is the only true Enjolras!
Yes, of course I know that. Warlow sings this piece on his Centre Stage album. I brought up Warlow as Enjolras simply because I wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Maguire is very, very talented, but I prefer Warlow's voice.
my mom told me. it was funny because he was on some TV special or something, and she was like "he's your cousin, he's very famous." and i was like"...nope. never heard of him."
I wanted to enjoy this. I really did. But Michael Maguire's inherent ability to make every high note sound so strained kind of makes me want to cry. And not in that "touched" sort of way.
You know, I hated Colm Wilkinson doing this song, just because the high voice didn't work for him, but since everything works for Michael, this version is good.
This was awesome to watch by Macguire. But this wasn't Macguire's role.
That being said Alfi Bo to me is the best JVJ.
