  • This was awesome to watch by Macguire. But this wasn't Macguire's role.

That being said Alfi Bo to me is the best JVJ.

  • can you sing? you've got too many negative comments!!! you should have clicked the DISLIKE button, then :(

  • My favorite song from Les Mis performed by one of my favorite Broadway actors, perfect!! Along with pictures of him as Enjolras. Wonderful!

  • If you take the song for the song itself he does an amazing job!! Just like the job he does as Enjorlas was powerful and amazing..I love the original cast, Michael, Com, Michael Ball are all brilliant in their respective roles. They laid the foundation that led les Miserables to make it to its 25th Anniversary.

  • Wow! I personally thought he did fabulous on this song!

  • Meh, not my cup of tea here. I love Michael Maguire, but I like this song to really soar, and this particular rendition doesn't quite get there.

  • Alfie Boe is a super star (saw him on Wednesday) but Michael Maguire does this song in his own way and is also absolutely amazing. He was the original Broadway Enjolras and was fabulousin the 10th anniversary concert. I don't like him singing this as much as other songs but he is a true star!

  • Bleh, I prefer Anthony Warlow and Ramin Karimloox as Enjorlas. And I like Alfie Boe, but COME ON! You can't beat Colm Wilkinson and his play-do-y mouth

  • Who in the f is alpie bow??????? Seriously.. is he in the dream cast? I didn't think so. BTW for all the other MORONs ... he won a Tony (Michael Maguire) for inventing the role for Enjorlas... Most of you people here on youtube are so ignorant it is truely amazing and pathetic...

  • Who in the f is alpie bow??????? Seriously.. is he in the dream cast? I didn't think so.

  • @djonesin1955 Now you are the one who displays his(her) ignorance. Who is Alfie Boe you ask? once you can spell his name look him up on youtube, google him, look for yourself! being upset about other people's comments shouldn't make you say something so ignorant. btw I agree with your assessment of Michael Maguire. I wish he would have participated in the 25th anniversary concert last October in London

  • @djonesin1955 As a matter of fact, yes. He played Valjean in the 25th Anniversary Concert. Kindly hold your tongue, please and thank you.

  • In my mind, this guy is Enjorlas. He's everything Enjy is supposed to be; devastatingly beautiful, visiblyt confidant, strong, inspiring...plus, his voice is absolute perfection!

This was a lovely rendition of Bring Him Home. Very powerful and emotional. Bravo, Michael!

  • He has the most beautiful voice ever

  • That man has the voice and face for Broadway.

  • All I can hear is Enjolras. :) His voice absolutely beautiful

  • He was good for his time...doesn't hold a candle to Alfie Boe on this one.

  • He was a perfect and wonderful Enjolras, and now he seems to be a great Valjean. Anyway, his voice is gorgeous.

    Bonnie

  • he is very good - bar none.

  • not to believe that he doesn't hear to the original cast of the london edition of les miserables!

he may not be the original Enjolras, but he's the best one!

  • He should be the next Valjean! He can pull it off. Too bad he's left Broadway :(

  • @LFC13052006 Where did you get this recording?

  • Wow, just wow. This amazing!

  • Oh...my...god. I'm almost crying right now. Too beautiful for words. Probably the best version of this song ever.

  • OMG The music to this is just brilliant. much more unique to the usual track. And he perfects this song

  • @LFC13052006 when was this recorded?

  • I bet he'd make a good Javert/Valjean now he's older!

  • OMG!! I had thought I'd heard the finest rendition of this 'Prayer' from 'Les Mis' when I heard Colim Wikinson do it. However...this man Michael Maguier has the voice of a 'god' - -magnificent in all repects! I had heard him in the role of 'Enjolas' and was stunned; but this...this is sheer beauty! Thank you hank you thank you for this recording!

    Jim

  • @jsurstru35 You should look Matthew Morrison do it if you like this song. Both versions are truly beautiful but Morrison's might actually be better. Let me know what you think.

  • He's AWESOME!

  • i love this song for him... especially in this key

  • he can well imagine him in the role of Captian Von Trapp

  • That's it. I'm officially going to die from amazingly gorgeous music! Just...wow.

  • Wow! I'm not used to hearing Bring Him Home like this. It's good, though. Wow.

  • I love this song!!! And Michael sings it soo well!! But i listen alot to Les Misérables in Concert so its weird hear him as Jean Valjean, im more used to Enjolras. But he would be a good Valjean!

  • I got the chills from just listening to this. Beautiful version, and totally a surprise.

  • Wow! I wasn't sure he could do it as I'm used to him being full-fledged baritone. I love Michael's vibrato so damn much. I'm so used to his vibrant, enthusiastic Enjolras though... in this he's too cautious and I don't know why. He can definitely do it. If he did this song again and went all-out he could rival even the best Valjeans!

  • David Miller of Il Divo sings this song with more power and range than Michael McGuire.

  • two words

    BREATH TAKEING

  • This is like... Completely not Enjolras... xD Yeah... After seeing him as Enjolras, I just... can't picture him as Valjean...

Though, he does have a beautiful voice. Absolutely beautiful. Technically, it's fantastic. Dynamics are spot on, vowels are great, and I couldn't hear a single misplaced breath. Brilliant head voice and very strong chest voice...

It was great, but the tone quality is distinctly different from what I'm used to hearing in Valjean.

  • He sings this song very well in my opinion.

  • His version of Bring Him Home is beautiful as well. Colm Wilkinson is amazing at this song, as well. I nearly cried at the end, when I saw it on tour and on the revival. Amazing song.

  • I prefer Colm Wilkinson for his sheer range and power, but I didn't know Michael Maguire snag this so beautifully nonetheless! Bravo!

  • im not trying to compare michael to colm, but i freaking love michael as enjorlas and he needs to make a comeback and i need to see him perform something, somewhere before i die- even if its "jingle bells" or some shit. hed make it awesome.

  • Why is it people feel compelled to criticize those who can do? Considering all factors, the man does a fine job on a difficult song. I doubt any people who posted negative remarks here, have ever appeared in "Les Miserables", or even worked backstage for that matter. He IS a talented singer. What have you done to even approach his performing credentials?

  • GOD711,

Don't worry about the naysayers. His voice is beautiful, but in the music world the competition is brutal. I saw on his web page that he just graduated from Law School! So we may not get to hear this voice in a stage production again. I hope I'm wrong.

Most singers need a day job to support the singing. And they love to sing. Americans have tin ears and would rather listen to music that has no notes? Know what I mean? Shout and curse and talk filthy. STUPID

  • While he has to push for the higher notes, he has a wonderful full baritone which is quite inspiring

  • I think he signs it quite well, but the orchestrations upstage him.

  • This song isn't even sung by Enjolras in the musical, why mention Warlow?

  • Yes, of course I know that. Warlow sings this piece on his Centre Stage album. I brought up Warlow as Enjolras simply because I wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Maguire is very, very talented, but I prefer Warlow's voice.

  • Thank you for introducing "Anthony Warlow" to me . After listining to him , i really appreciate your comment . Thank you

  • Why thank you! It's nice to get a positive response on an opinion for once! I appreciate it very much.

  • nah colm is and always will be valjean. michael is definitely not better than colm

  • this guy is my cousin! i've never actually met him, but he is!

  • And we know that how?

  • my mom told me. it was funny because he was on some TV special or something, and she was like "he's your cousin, he's very famous." and i was like"...nope. never heard of him."

  • Michael has such a beautiful voice. I would like to hear him sing "If I Can't Love Her" from Beauty and the Beast.

  • I sing that song really well. when I record it, u should check it out

  • @phantomfan11 he looks like gaston

  • Michael is good but I say Colm does it better

  • Where is he now?

  • This is the most beautiful version of this song I've ever heard. I love his voice so much.

  • I wanted to enjoy this. I really did. But Michael Maguire's inherent ability to make every high note sound so strained kind of makes me want to cry. And not in that "touched" sort of way.

  • You know, I hated Colm Wilkinson doing this song, just because the high voice didn't work for him, but since everything works for Michael, this version is good.

  • *dies* OMG! were did you get this?!!!! I love Michael Maguire!!!! OMG! lol sorry But he is soooo good!

  • i love Micheal Maguire i have been searching the net for any other songs he has sung if you find any more please will u let me know please.

  • but wouldn't that make you Michael Maquire? seeing as u have to find the recording first

  • You can find this recording on a CD called "Magical Moments from Great Musicals".

  • were did u find this?

  • Good Enjorlases make good Valjeans

  • @Marius24601 Agreed, I believe JOJ has played Enjolras, but correct me if I'm wrong.
