"i rather them have too much then too little"?! If u give them too much oats they can colic..and two flakes of hay seems like a little, I give my horse half a bale of hay, oats, and he grazes the majority of the day. "let's watch the expert"?! She can't even ride..she got kicked a bunch of times cuz she can't discipline her horses! An I'm not even going to comment on the way she brushed that horses tail and mane! That women knows nothing about horses!
There's horsemanshit in Malibu. Someone kick that girl, please. Or maybe hit her on the head with a Pony Club Manual. Horses are truly saints, aren't they....
Wow, poor horse, the girl on the white horse is pulling to hard, it could really make the horses mouth sore if you hold it hard and long enough. Dont pull towards your face because when the horse stops you can hurt yourself, and dont go 2 inches deep because the horse...um wouldn't feel to good. Thats why she get kicked so many times,in my experience with horse i never got kicked, maybe almost bucked off, but i fallen off horses so many times it really dosn't bother me.
they are pulling on the mouth too hard thats is why there heard is like that but also a rock can do a lot more damage they must have a problom.!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
And what is this style of riding? The horse looks like it's clearly in pain. And FYI, I'm not from a fancy hunter barn, I have an Arab with tender feet and I take care of him. Think before you comment. Most of the people commenting on this do otherwise.
We aren't judged on our POSITION and our HEELS! We ride in open trails and let the horses feel free. Also arabians are born with hard feet to with-stand rocks on the trails so "hitting" the horse with the hoof pick dosen't hurt them. PLEASE think before you comment bullshit about her.
@theeventingcafu Y'know people ride in riding boots for a REASON. It's a SAFETY ISSUE - if you fall off while wearing tennis shoes you are MUCH more likely to get caught up and dragged because tennis shoes don't have a heel like riding boots do.
Also, being able to keep your heels down gives you a better platform to stay on should the shit hit the fan.
@CrystalGazer95 PT. 1 Yes I understand that it is a saftey issue but if you would know what an endurance saddle looks like then you would see that the stirrups DO have a wider platform and endurance horses aren't crazy. They aren't crazy bucking and rearing horses that go nuts because they have been enclosed all of their lives. And not all endurance people ride in converse... I used to ride in sneakers while riding and they will sometimes have a bit of a heel to them.
@CrystalGazer95 PT. 2 PS. not everybody wants to spend $300 on a pair of uncomfortable tall boots. Thats why I liked endurance so much... for the comfort of you and your horse on the trail and not in a cramped arena.
@theeventingcafu I have seen - and ridden in - more than one endurance saddle, and while the stirrups can be wider it is STILL dangerous to ride in sneakers because if your foot slips forward you will probably get caught up in your stirrups which is a HUGE safety hazard - no matter WHAT style you ride.
Also, horses are living, breathing, thinking PREY ANIMALS. If something scares them, their first instinct is to run, and there is basically NOTHING a person can do when a horse is scared out
@CrystalGazer95 of its mind - no matter HOW well trained the horse is.
And notice I said RIDING BOOTS, not TALL ENGLISH BOOTS. I have SEVERAL pairs of riding boots, and all of them are different - yeah I have tall boots, but I also have Ariat Rodeo Baby's (which were only $80) and Ariat Paddock Boots (which were only $90) and I know there are less expensive ones out there. And btw, a properly fitting pair of boots ISN'T uncomfortable - no matter what style they are.
@CrystalGazer95 Also if you would know more about the sport or get the endurance trails magizine then you would see that almost EVERYBODY rides in sneekers or heavy duty shoes with half chaps. And in endurance we stand up in the saddle (to get off their backs) and hold on to the horse's mane so its not like we HAVE to have shoes to push out heels down all the time. When the horses are happy then then the people are happy.
@theeventingcafu I'm going to be really purposefully juvenile here and ask "if everyone else jumped off of a cliff would you do it?" I understand the half chaps to protect from being scraped up, but tennis shoes are DANGEROUS (like jumping off of cliffs!) to ride in.
And btw, proper posting gives more back relief than just standing in the stirrups since standing still puts more pressure in the saddle.
@CrystalGazer95 Well if you HAVE ridden in an endurance saddle then you could see that (atleast the stirrups that i ride in) the stirrups are angled so it is VERY unlikely to get your foot stuck in them. Also i have other stirrups that have a cage in the front of them so your foot can't slid through and get stuck. And my horses trust me... I don't know what horses you ride or for how long you've had them but we ride on mostly the same trails and I've hade my horse for over 5 years now.
@theeventingcafu It's not a matter of how much your horse "trusts" you. It's a matter of "horses are PREY ANIMALS and if they think there's a predator out there (even if there really isn't) then they're going to run like hell". And there isn't a damn thing that any of us puny humans can do to safely stop a terrified 1000lb animal. Especially one with hooves.
Taps (the cages) can break, and if you can't ride properly (preferably w/out ANY stirrups), you're screwed when the shit hits the fan.
@CrystalGazer95 Yes I DO understand that horses are prey animals and that "shit hits the fan" sometimes but does that mean that you are going to fall off? My horse did spook once when I was young and he bolted for 3/'4 of a mile and I stayed on... and my since my horse loves me and trusts me he didn't slam on the breaks and let my go flying over his head. Also when I used to jump him one day i jumped before him and did fly over his head while he wes still jumping...
@theeventingcafu If you ride like the idiot in the video then the only thing that kept you on was dumb luck. Accidents happen with ANY horse in ANY discipline. all we can do is try to minimize the damage that accidents can cause by using the safest equipment possible (i.e. NOT tennis shoes).
And btw, horses don't feel complex human emotions like "love" - their brains aren't developed enough for it. There may be people that they care for like a herd mate, but it isn't "love".
@CrystalGazer95 ...and he tryed so hard not to land on me and he didnt. Plus in endurance we grip with our lower leg and and keep our heels down and accidents happen just as often as in other types of horse sports. You can look up on youtube "dragged by a horse" and find that many of the videos are of jumping...hmmmm wheres the endurance?? And why are sneekers so bad to ride in? And if you search on google "ariat endurance shoes" those are the type of shoes we ride in...
@theeventingcafu Way to contradict yourself kid. You starting out by arguing that you don't need to keep your heels down in endurance, and now you pull a 180 and say that you "grip with [your] lower leg and keep [your] heels down". Way to pull BS out of your ass.
And there's also the fact that you start out by saying that you ride in "TENNIS SHOES", but now you say you ride in Ariats? WTF, pick a story and STICK TO IT.
The reason you see more accidents on YT from other sports is because...
@CrystalGazer95 I rather not keep this argument going so here is what I do... i never said that we DONT need to keep our heels down in endurance I said that we dont all the time. And wtf does gripping and keeping your heels down have to do with eachother? And yes I do ride in tennis shoes and sneakers as well as ariats which means both FYI. And I do grip with my lower leg. We ride with MANY other endurance riders and only TWICE have I ever heard of people being dragged.
@theeventingcafu You were defending the way this faux-expert was riding and there's no way in HELL she was able to effectively use her leg with the terrible way she rides AND her heels were up, and yet you say that you don't ride that way and try to imply that BOTH are correct even though they're completely different.
I've never heard of someone that my group of riding buddies knows being outed as a terrorist, or a homophobe, or a racist, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen often.
@CrystalGazer95 I never said that I wear tennis shoes for an event... i usually wear my ariats. And you are right getting dragged by horses happen all the time by ALL types of riding. Do you think that being dragged on a trail is the most dangerous? What about on a racetrack where you can easily be trampled or in a sand arena with jumps in it! One of my friends posted a picture of themself after being dragged and her face hit a jump. She had to go to the hospital for all the cuts on her face.
@theeventingcafu A large rock can do a HELL of a lot more damage than most jumps, if she had hit a rock she likely would've had broken bones. Also with racing the stirrups are so short that combined with the height limit put on jockeys you aren't actually all that likely to get trampled unless you come all of the way off and are in front of at least one other horse.

@CrystalGazer95 And she wAs wearing tall boots too. And im not defending this person... I said that there was clearly things wrong and mostly that we ride in tennis shoes. Her heels were clearly up and i know that standing up in the saddle really helps my heels get pushed down farther then they already were.
@theeventingcafu Uhh, I have no idea what video you were watching, but she was NOT wearing boots. It looks like she was wearing either Converse or Converse-knock-offs.
@theeventingcafu You were saying that you've never heard of someone falling off and getting dragged, and I pointed out that there are things that I've never heard of happening - but it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.
@CrystalGazer95 I never said that ive never heard of people getting dragged. And exactly, mistakes and accidents happen all the time. Next time try to re-read the post again instead of the "way to contradict yourself" bull shit. I was clearly continueing on about the girl who had gotten dragged in the post before...Im not a retard i know what tall boots look like. And one more reason to keep your heels down...
@theeventingcafu I'll admit to not remembering exactly what you said (a couple of these comments were posted from my phone, so I couldn't read back), but the point is still valid. Just because you personally haven't heard of something happening doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. You are not a mind reader, nor omniscient, and no one is obligated to tell you everything.
When I said "way to contradict yourself" I clarified that to others, it sounded like you said the "trainer" was wearing boots.
@CrystalGazer95 I did say that ive heard of people being dragged before a few times. Yes it is true that i dont know everything that people say since i am a teenager and the adults that I rode with mostly talked to my parents and not to me. But the same goes along with everyone... even you.
@theeventingcafu Except that I wasn't implying that things only happen as often as I hear about them - you were (even if it wasn't entirely intentional).
@CrystalGazer95 What I was saying was that I agree with you that i havent heard all about all the talk that is being said and that it isnt somebodys job to tell me it. And the same goes with all people... there is tons of talk going around that isnt being said directly to you.
@CrystalGazer95 Yes accidents happen all the time and could you say that more people get hurt in endurance than jumping? Many accidents are less likely to happen if the rider knows better to sit back with their heels down.
@CrystalGazer95 And may I ask how you got running with pumps compared to riding in sneekers? They seem very diffrent from eachother? Running with pumps can cause sores and broken ankles and so can sneakers? BTW You should not have your feet far enough in the stirrup for it to matter if you are wearing boots or not.
@theeventingcafu They are the same in that it is using inappropriate footwear for an event. And getting your foot caught in a stirrup and getting dragged can DEFINITELY cause bruises, sores, and broken ankles/feet/etc.
If you slip, then you aren't purposely putting your foot far enough to get caught up - and it does happen. And being dragged on the trail is usually a HELL of a lot more dangerous than getting dragged in a sand arena.
@CrystalGazer95 And btw i think it hurts the horse much more when there is a rider ploping up an down on their back. Also we use certain pads that have extra cushion and shock absorber for the horse
@theeventingcafu If you've actually got enough proper leg muscle, you would have no "plop" in your post to begin with. not to mention that every discipline has pads to absorb shock. Unless you know how posting works and affects the horse, which you don't, I don't think you should try to claim that it's painful. I'd rather post with the horse's motion rather than bounce around out of control like a rodeo clown.
@LitleDusk Obviously you don't know what I was talking about. I ment that some people in english riding can sometimes "plop" in their saddles (from inexpearance or lack of musles) I know how to post properly... I have ridden in english for five years now... i do xc which I have to 2-point to get off the horse's back and my trainer makes me go without stirrups (posting) for 30 minutes every lesson. I think I would have the physical ability and know the proper way to post.
@LitleDusk Yes i know that there are shock absorber pads... im not a retard... im saying that we use them for more cushion on the horses back. I never said that posting was painful to a horse. And lastly I always stay with the horses motion when I ride... A couple years ago I went to a show and got pretty much in the lowest scores because I was so connected with my horses motion compared to all the hunter bitches who would keep their body as motionless and stuck as possible...
I am sick with hearing people say crap about this lady. Yes there are some things that are wrong in this video but most of you people know NOTHING about this style of riding! I used to ride with laura and she is very kind to her horses unlike some people who don't even take care of their horse propely! Most of you people are probaly from fancy little stuck-up hunter barns! You probaly don't take care of your own hores either! This is called endurance!
My thoughts while watching: Aw what a cute horse; brushing hard there and OMGWTFAREYOUDOINGTOTHATPOORTAIL jesus, woman, why on earth are you stabbing a hoofpick into -- what the hell kind of trot...AND YES YOUR HAIR DOES LOOK FAKE
"Have you ever been kicked?" "Maybe 1002 times. You learn after a while..." Took you a long time, didn't it? I've ridden for 11 years, have handled a number of very different horses, and have yet to be kicked. I want to adopt this saint of a horse.
Put your heals down, stop reafing on your horses face, let go the the horn, lengthen your reins a bit, sit in your saddle, don't pound on your horses foot, LEARN HOW TO RIDE. Man this women is fucking stupid.
If they have a stone in their hoof of course it's gonna hurt! Riding 101, duh. And if you brush their tail to much it will get all then and wispy so only do it for shows, also don't just put wait in your feet KEEP YOUR HEELS DOWN! And when you lose a stirrup it does NOT mean you will fall of, if you are a good rider you will grip with your legs and if your not you would grip the horn or pommel, DUH. Sometimes I think people are CLUELESS!!!!
Omg in the hoof u can hurt them in the frog if it stands on a stone of if u HIT it and u don't pull the main and tail cos it dose hurt them and I don't know who taught u but the don't know anything g a bout horses and u don't either
WOW..you cant hurt them...I guess she had never ridden a Horse with a stone stock in it's hoof....WOW.. and never mount a horse like that..RIGHT grab the horn and the cantle at the same time..that's mounting 101...no no..OH.. yeah.. stop pull them reins back and up...NOT..
wow this chick should not have horses shes a fucking dumbass, okay hoses have a stong feeling in there feet and in there main and tail so only brush the tail out when you have shows. do not pull your horses around like theres a right way to do that it wasnt even neck rainning that was just fucking stupid.when you ride make sure you have heeled shoes on that are closed. also you can walk behind a horse you just have to make sure they know your there.
So, pretty sure when you're behind a horse and it kicks you it's not "kicking at another horse" The horse cannot see you when you're right behind it and when you touch it, it'll think you're a predator and kick in self defense... I'm not even gonna make a comment about her grooming and riding skills..
LOL - I do know horses don't just kick for that...when I was 10 yrs old sitting on the fence line w/ friends watching riders & horses; one white male was peeing & we made eye contact and I was laughing and when the horse was finished it rushed along the fence then kicked at me!...we all jumped off fence and that horse just yapping at me & pouncing the ground w/ his front legs before trotting away.
I guess horses do not like to be stared at while doing their business...
The only person who is forgiven for acting like such a cruel neglectful idiot around those horses is that poor woman under her instruction. I dare you to come and yank my horses mane and tail out and smash it's hoof in, a face fulla horse shoes would sort you right out!
Who spends $150 dollars to shoe a horse every 6 weeks?? I only spend $50 for a good farrier, and that takes me through shows. At least she can stay on a horse, even if she doesn't know anything about their nervous systems....
i love how she mounted the horse. JUST KIDDING you wanna get on by putting your hand on the mane and the back of your saddle. using your whole saddle to mount can , in time mess your horses back up big time... and i love that extra cute hill that the horses can EASILY trip and fall down...dont get me started on the grooming...read a book "professional"
"You can rip it out" Seriously woman?! I cringed at the sound of the hair breaking. She is ruining that poor horses mane and tail. Gah and her shoe comment - you take two inches out of her feet and you will have an incredibly lame horse you idiot. She should not be allowed near a horse.
I cannot believe this lady. She is no expert!!! I mean, when she was talking about being kicked..and she said "you learn after a while"..well apparently she hasn't because she KEEPS DOING IT!!!! ugh she makes me sick. someone needs to fire her from that barn and hire someone who actually knows what they are doing!
holy hell lady if you rode my horse, got on a horse, neck reined my horse, stopped my horse like that I would sack you on the spot.
A horse can feel a fly land so why the hell won't if feel you pulling its mane and tail out?
And a horse that rears at a riding school, seriously? Hope you carry loads of insurance. Though the horse is probably just reacting to dreadful hands and rider.
Holy crap! This lady had so much miss information, it HURT me to watch her! It's no wonder she has gotten kicked 1002 times! You don't want to thin the horse's tail! WTF was she thinking? Why do you put shoes on the horse if rocks don't hurt their feet?! Duh. The soles of their feet have LOTS of feeling. It is the outer wall that doesn't. You don't stand in your stirrups riding western. If I mounted a horse like that, my friends would laugh hard enough to fall off their horses.
You are a terrible excuse for an "EXPERT" Someone should grab a handful of your hair and YANK it. YOU WOULDN"T FEEL IT....RIGHT??!......(Here's your sign)
what the hell, does she think the horse is a machine? the horse pulled her hoof back when she pounded the frog, even i could see that from that perspective in the video. absolutely atrocious.
This needs to come off YouTube. This is the WORST example of horse etiquette I have ever seen! NOTHING in this video is safe and these "experts" need many lessons themselves. I have been in the industry all my life and have truly never seen anything so ridiculous as this. Please, PLEASE take this down before someone uses these "techniques" and gets hurt or killed....
This video was very painful to watch. It's clear this "trainer" has no clue whatsoever about anything relating to and regarding horses or riding. Tennis shoes? Really? Be as agressive as possible when brushing?? Really? Pounding on the frog? I am SOOOO not surprised that she's been kicked 1,002 times! It is amazing how "un-knowledgable" people believe this crap and think she's amazingly horse savvy.
The harder you brush the better!? How do you like someone dragging a brush through your hair? Doesn't feel good on anyone, including horses. And slamming a metal hoof pick at the frog! What a horrible person calling herself a horse woman!
The forlock unlike the mane has pain receptive nuerons. What she is doing hurts not only his head but his face.
You do not want to rip out hair from the sensitive dock of the tail. Your horses need that hair to swat flies. And you brush bottom to top.
Telling someone your horse will bite them is horrible the fact you teach people to ride with biting horse (which you have made biters with your cruel treatment is ludacris)

U head ^^^ "don't stand behind a horse or u'll get kicked".....''have u eva been kicked?".....''about 1002 times :P'' Far outt you don't even look after them cramped up in little yards or out in a paddock with 20 other horses. U've got issues
um the horses hoof can get hurt if they get on rocks even if the horse does have shoes. the frog is the most sensitive part on a horses hoof. and can get bruised very easily and if the horse steps on a sharp rock it can bruise the hoof. And you dont jerk the horses hair out like that, you can get horse detangler that helps. the horse does feel all of that.

I wouldn't let that so called "Horse trainer" ANYWHERE near my horses!!!!!! She needs to find a new job, cause she really doesn't know jack shit about horse!!!!
@iluvmyhorsemay they can feel their mane being pulled completely, but they have less nerves in their mane than their tail so they can feel it less, but they do have alot of feeling their.
Wow That BITCH doesn't know the first thing about horses? Poor animal, an when she rides eew i just felt like punching her in the face, that is NOT how to treat a horse...... Stupid,Stupid,Stupid,Stupid, lady.......
What horseman would want to have a thin tail? You're supposed to preserve it... And I think this woman really should study a bit of horse anatomy.. really. (most) horses don't like having their hair pulled out, and they MOST certainly have feelings in their hoofs, as especially in the frog. Excuse me, but I think it is pretty clear that she is NO expert. And why use a pelham if she's gonna pull that hard on the reins?
God, the lady that's interviewing the so called "expert" has more sympathy and horse sense than their, again, so called "expert" Yuck. This lady just disgusts me with the way she treats her horses. I wish I could get them all out of there. They look absolutely MISERABLE. Poor babies.
When I took riding lessons back in germany I also was told to stay away from the fog when cleaning the feet of a horse because it can hurt the horse a lot.
That woman is really rough with the horse. She looks like a drug addict too!
How stupid....I don't know any idiot that pulls hair out of a tail like she did......most of us real horseman want to try to preserve as much of the tail as possible.....this girl is a joke...!!!
What a shame someone put this girl on this video......alot of people in California really no about horses....this girl is a joke.....and the first clue is wearing tennis shoes.....geeezzz don't people in California ever take things for real.....!?!?!?
those horses are abused call animal control!!! she doesnt know how to take care of a horse let alone ride one. seriously stand up while trotting in a western saddle? comeon
SHE IS NOT AN "EXPERT" SHE CANT EVEN TROT PROPERLY,, AND BANGING ON THAT POOR HORSES FEET,, SOOOO SADD,,, I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THOSE HORSES. SHE SHOULD BE REPORTED.. THEY ARE IN DIRT WITH NO GRASS.. AND HORSE CANT LIVE OFF OF A FLAKE OR TWO OF HAY AT ALL TIMES, THEY HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING SONSTANTLY FLOWING THROUGH THEIR SYSTEMS.. BEGINNERS DO NO LISTEN TO WHAT SHE HAS TO SAY. UGH I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY BUT NOT ENOUGH TIME,, LETS SUM UP WHAT I HAVE TOO SAY.. SHES A POOR ECCUE FOR A HORSE OWNER!!!!
lol i couldn't help but laugh at this video. Those poor horses. I know the girl has never ridden before, but how is that poor horse supposed to trot with her holding back the reins so much?! And that expert is nooooo expert. I'm just a rider and even I know not to hammer at a horses hoofs. That's just mean...
yes, because heading straight for the top of their head first thing is not at all spooky... "a lot of people think that if they step on rocks or concrete they're hurting, but they're not... they can't feel anything in their feet" well, horses can go lame from rocks... reins over the head first...? what? but their trot style makes me laugh so hard...
now we know why she has been kicked 1,002 times.....because she such poor horseman ship!!!! they dont feel anything when you pound on the frog which is were they can feel!!!!! so stupid!!! poor horses :(
This lady as no right to be teaching people this is ridiculous u don`t pull on a horses tail that hard and she doesn`t even ride right i have a horse and i know more than her!!
it is not up to 300 hundred dollars to shoe a jumper-_____- i have a thoroughbred mare who gets specialized shoes to correct her feet from an unexperienced previous owner. and its 90 dollarrs for her. this. is the most awful lesson on horses i have ever seen. i hurts to watch
That girl is hurting her horse. Animals have there own feelings so they can feel it when your being so ruf. How would you feel if you were getting thrown around with rains.
no wonder why she has been kicked like 1000 times... your not suppose to just brush aggressivly cause they can actually feel it... also i have never tried to ride western but your seat is horrible and you are putting way to much pressure on the horses mouth no wounder why the horse is throwing his head up cause you are hurting him!!
Yikes, I feel so bad for trail horses at programs like this. =( I'm amazed the horse didn't start acting aggressive. Yanking and brushing as hard as you can? I think she's trying to present rattailed horses with mohawks for a mane. Their mouthes have to be iron strong to handle that kind of one handed yanking, neck reining doesn't mean drag the reins across their neck and pull on their face so they get confused with which way they're supposed to go. Poor grey, I can't see how that looks like
Did you seriously just stab the frog of the hoof?! Are you kidding me?! And yes they do have feeling in their hooves why do you think we put on horseshoes? To protect their hoof!!!!! and ripping out the tail hair isn't good then your horse looks unhealthy and by the looks of it your horses are unhealthy!!! You don't know the first thing about caring for a horse and you should be reported to animal welfare!!!! And FYI ripping out the horses hair IS painful that's like someone ripping out your ha
she must be the luckiest person in the world. if she had been doing that to my horse she would have been kicked in the face. about five times. massive respect for the horse for putting up with her shit.
OKAY!!! 1st of all this is horrible!!!! My 5 yr old cousin can do better than that and she has only ridden my horse 3 times!!! YOU ARE HURTING THE HORSE!!! EVERYTHING YOU DID HURT!!! WHEN A HORSE PINS ITS EARS THEY ARE AFRAID OR HURTING OR AGRIVATED!!! WHEN IN THAT VIDEO WERE THE HORSES EARS NOT BACK THATS WHAT I THOUGHT NEVER!!! UGHHHHHH
She's falling off the saddle(: If rocks do not hurt the horses foot? Why pay __ per shoe when you could pay __ to trim it each time? Dumb, rocks hurt. Next, unless you want to go personally swat and kill every single fly that comes to your poorly cleaned stable, stop ripping out the horses fly swatters.
Please! Don't take any example on this woman! She is a bad rider, with hard hands and bad position and honestly, she tells stupid things! How can she says that horses are not sensitive? Just look a horse when flyes walk on him and you will see that he reacts!
tell me why would you want to thin out the tail and rip out the hair???? and don't put 2 much pressure on the mane and tail. begginers please dont take any advice from here poor horse. they dont start to kick other horses they aim at YOU! wtf if u touch the frog you can hurt their foot ugh it brakes youre heart to see a person do that to a beautiful creature i aint going there that's for sure! its not $250 to shoe a horse price ranges $100-$175 it's not cheap. Dude your bale of hay is green ewww
Wow! Unbelievable!! I hope there aren't any beginners taking advice from this video......the redhead is horrible and doesn't truly know horses......huge thumbs down! The redhead needs to take some lessons herself LOL

And what is this style of riding? The horse looks like it's clearly in pain. And FYI, I'm not from a fancy hunter barn, I have an Arab with tender feet and I take care of him. Think before you comment. Most of the people commenting on this do otherwise.

PART 2
We RIDE in TENNIS SHOES.
We aren't judged on our POSITION and our HEELS! We ride in open trails and let the horses feel free. Also arabians are born with hard feet to with-stand rocks on the trails so "hitting" the horse with the hoof pick dosen't hurt them. PLEASE think before you comment bullshit about her.
theeventingcafu 2 months ago
@theeventingcafu Y'know people ride in riding boots for a REASON. It's a SAFETY ISSUE - if you fall off while wearing tennis shoes you are MUCH more likely to get caught up and dragged because tennis shoes don't have a heel like riding boots do.
Also, being able to keep your heels down gives you a better platform to stay on should the shit hit the fan.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 PT. 1 Yes I understand that it is a saftey issue but if you would know what an endurance saddle looks like then you would see that the stirrups DO have a wider platform and endurance horses aren't crazy. They aren't crazy bucking and rearing horses that go nuts because they have been enclosed all of their lives. And not all endurance people ride in converse... I used to ride in sneakers while riding and they will sometimes have a bit of a heel to them.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 PT. 2 PS. not everybody wants to spend $300 on a pair of uncomfortable tall boots. Thats why I liked endurance so much... for the comfort of you and your horse on the trail and not in a cramped arena.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu I have seen - and ridden in - more than one endurance saddle, and while the stirrups can be wider it is STILL dangerous to ride in sneakers because if your foot slips forward you will probably get caught up in your stirrups which is a HUGE safety hazard - no matter WHAT style you ride.
Also, horses are living, breathing, thinking PREY ANIMALS. If something scares them, their first instinct is to run, and there is basically NOTHING a person can do when a horse is scared out
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 of its mind - no matter HOW well trained the horse is.
And notice I said RIDING BOOTS, not TALL ENGLISH BOOTS. I have SEVERAL pairs of riding boots, and all of them are different - yeah I have tall boots, but I also have Ariat Rodeo Baby's (which were only $80) and Ariat Paddock Boots (which were only $90) and I know there are less expensive ones out there. And btw, a properly fitting pair of boots ISN'T uncomfortable - no matter what style they are.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 Also if you would know more about the sport or get the endurance trails magizine then you would see that almost EVERYBODY rides in sneekers or heavy duty shoes with half chaps. And in endurance we stand up in the saddle (to get off their backs) and hold on to the horse's mane so its not like we HAVE to have shoes to push out heels down all the time. When the horses are happy then then the people are happy.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu I'm going to be really purposefully juvenile here and ask "if everyone else jumped off of a cliff would you do it?" I understand the half chaps to protect from being scraped up, but tennis shoes are DANGEROUS (like jumping off of cliffs!) to ride in.
And btw, proper posting gives more back relief than just standing in the stirrups since standing still puts more pressure in the saddle.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 Well if you HAVE ridden in an endurance saddle then you could see that (atleast the stirrups that i ride in) the stirrups are angled so it is VERY unlikely to get your foot stuck in them. Also i have other stirrups that have a cage in the front of them so your foot can't slid through and get stuck. And my horses trust me... I don't know what horses you ride or for how long you've had them but we ride on mostly the same trails and I've hade my horse for over 5 years now.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu It's not a matter of how much your horse "trusts" you. It's a matter of "horses are PREY ANIMALS and if they think there's a predator out there (even if there really isn't) then they're going to run like hell". And there isn't a damn thing that any of us puny humans can do to safely stop a terrified 1000lb animal. Especially one with hooves.
Taps (the cages) can break, and if you can't ride properly (preferably w/out ANY stirrups), you're screwed when the shit hits the fan.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 Yes I DO understand that horses are prey animals and that "shit hits the fan" sometimes but does that mean that you are going to fall off? My horse did spook once when I was young and he bolted for 3/'4 of a mile and I stayed on... and my since my horse loves me and trusts me he didn't slam on the breaks and let my go flying over his head. Also when I used to jump him one day i jumped before him and did fly over his head while he wes still jumping...
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu If you ride like the idiot in the video then the only thing that kept you on was dumb luck. Accidents happen with ANY horse in ANY discipline. all we can do is try to minimize the damage that accidents can cause by using the safest equipment possible (i.e. NOT tennis shoes).
And btw, horses don't feel complex human emotions like "love" - their brains aren't developed enough for it. There may be people that they care for like a herd mate, but it isn't "love".
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 ...and he tryed so hard not to land on me and he didnt. Plus in endurance we grip with our lower leg and and keep our heels down and accidents happen just as often as in other types of horse sports. You can look up on youtube "dragged by a horse" and find that many of the videos are of jumping...hmmmm wheres the endurance?? And why are sneekers so bad to ride in? And if you search on google "ariat endurance shoes" those are the type of shoes we ride in...
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu Way to contradict yourself kid. You starting out by arguing that you don't need to keep your heels down in endurance, and now you pull a 180 and say that you "grip with [your] lower leg and keep [your] heels down". Way to pull BS out of your ass.
And there's also the fact that you start out by saying that you ride in "TENNIS SHOES", but now you say you ride in Ariats? WTF, pick a story and STICK TO IT.
The reason you see more accidents on YT from other sports is because...
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 most people don't take video of Endurance rides. IT's just not a spectator sport - unlike Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, Rodeo, WP, etc.
I already said why it's dangerous to ride in sneakers - they aren't designed for it. It's like wearing pumps to run a marathon.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 I rather not keep this argument going so here is what I do... i never said that we DONT need to keep our heels down in endurance I said that we dont all the time. And wtf does gripping and keeping your heels down have to do with eachother? And yes I do ride in tennis shoes and sneakers as well as ariats which means both FYI. And I do grip with my lower leg. We ride with MANY other endurance riders and only TWICE have I ever heard of people being dragged.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu You were defending the way this faux-expert was riding and there's no way in HELL she was able to effectively use her leg with the terrible way she rides AND her heels were up, and yet you say that you don't ride that way and try to imply that BOTH are correct even though they're completely different.
I've never heard of someone that my group of riding buddies knows being outed as a terrorist, or a homophobe, or a racist, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen often.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 I never said that I wear tennis shoes for an event... i usually wear my ariats. And you are right getting dragged by horses happen all the time by ALL types of riding. Do you think that being dragged on a trail is the most dangerous? What about on a racetrack where you can easily be trampled or in a sand arena with jumps in it! One of my friends posted a picture of themself after being dragged and her face hit a jump. She had to go to the hospital for all the cuts on her face.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu A large rock can do a HELL of a lot more damage than most jumps, if she had hit a rock she likely would've had broken bones. Also with racing the stirrups are so short that combined with the height limit put on jockeys you aren't actually all that likely to get trampled unless you come all of the way off and are in front of at least one other horse.

@CrystalGazer95 And she wAs wearing tall boots too. And im not defending this person... I said that there was clearly things wrong and mostly that we ride in tennis shoes. Her heels were clearly up and i know that standing up in the saddle really helps my heels get pushed down farther then they already were.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu Uhh, I have no idea what video you were watching, but she was NOT wearing boots. It looks like she was wearing either Converse or Converse-knock-offs.
And again - way to contradict yourself.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 How does being a terrorist, homophobe, or a racist have to do with this??
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu You were saying that you've never heard of someone falling off and getting dragged, and I pointed out that there are things that I've never heard of happening - but it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 I never said that ive never heard of people getting dragged. And exactly, mistakes and accidents happen all the time. Next time try to re-read the post again instead of the "way to contradict yourself" bull shit. I was clearly continueing on about the girl who had gotten dragged in the post before...Im not a retard i know what tall boots look like. And one more reason to keep your heels down...
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu I'll admit to not remembering exactly what you said (a couple of these comments were posted from my phone, so I couldn't read back), but the point is still valid. Just because you personally haven't heard of something happening doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. You are not a mind reader, nor omniscient, and no one is obligated to tell you everything.
When I said "way to contradict yourself" I clarified that to others, it sounded like you said the "trainer" was wearing boots.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 I did say that ive heard of people being dragged before a few times. Yes it is true that i dont know everything that people say since i am a teenager and the adults that I rode with mostly talked to my parents and not to me. But the same goes along with everyone... even you.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu Except that I wasn't implying that things only happen as often as I hear about them - you were (even if it wasn't entirely intentional).
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 What I was saying was that I agree with you that i havent heard all about all the talk that is being said and that it isnt somebodys job to tell me it. And the same goes with all people... there is tons of talk going around that isnt being said directly to you.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 Yes accidents happen all the time and could you say that more people get hurt in endurance than jumping? Many accidents are less likely to happen if the rider knows better to sit back with their heels down.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 And may I ask how you got running with pumps compared to riding in sneekers? They seem very diffrent from eachother? Running with pumps can cause sores and broken ankles and so can sneakers? BTW You should not have your feet far enough in the stirrup for it to matter if you are wearing boots or not.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu They are the same in that it is using inappropriate footwear for an event. And getting your foot caught in a stirrup and getting dragged can DEFINITELY cause bruises, sores, and broken ankles/feet/etc.
If you slip, then you aren't purposely putting your foot far enough to get caught up - and it does happen. And being dragged on the trail is usually a HELL of a lot more dangerous than getting dragged in a sand arena.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@CrystalGazer95 And btw i think it hurts the horse much more when there is a rider ploping up an down on their back. Also we use certain pads that have extra cushion and shock absorber for the horse
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu Notice that I mentioned PROPER posting - not "plopping up anD down" on a horse's back.
CrystalGazer95 1 month ago
@theeventingcafu If you've actually got enough proper leg muscle, you would have no "plop" in your post to begin with. not to mention that every discipline has pads to absorb shock. Unless you know how posting works and affects the horse, which you don't, I don't think you should try to claim that it's painful. I'd rather post with the horse's motion rather than bounce around out of control like a rodeo clown.
LitleDusk 1 month ago
@LitleDusk Obviously you don't know what I was talking about. I ment that some people in english riding can sometimes "plop" in their saddles (from inexpearance or lack of musles) I know how to post properly... I have ridden in english for five years now... i do xc which I have to 2-point to get off the horse's back and my trainer makes me go without stirrups (posting) for 30 minutes every lesson. I think I would have the physical ability and know the proper way to post.
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@LitleDusk Yes i know that there are shock absorber pads... im not a retard... im saying that we use them for more cushion on the horses back. I never said that posting was painful to a horse. And lastly I always stay with the horses motion when I ride... A couple years ago I went to a show and got pretty much in the lowest scores because I was so connected with my horses motion compared to all the hunter bitches who would keep their body as motionless and stuck as possible...
theeventingcafu 1 month ago
@LitleDusk ...(which all the judges loved) So please dont bitch about my riding with only reading coments

Oh my Gosh....

424kilebar 2 months ago 2
If they have a stone in their hoof of course it's gonna hurt! Riding 101, duh. And if you brush their tail to much it will get all then and wispy so only do it for shows, also don't just put wait in your feet KEEP YOUR HEELS DOWN! And when you lose a stirrup it does NOT mean you will fall of, if you are a good rider you will grip with your legs and if your not you would grip the horn or pommel, DUH. Sometimes I think people are CLUELESS!!!!

Omg in the hoof u can hurt them in the frog if it stands on a stone of if u HIT it and u don't pull the main and tail cos it dose hurt them and I don't know who taught u but the don't know anything g a bout horses and u don't either

wow this chick should not have horses shes a fucking dumbass, okay hoses have a stong feeling in there feet and in there main and tail so only brush the tail out when you have shows. do not pull your horses around like theres a right way to do that it wasnt even neck rainning that was just fucking stupid.when you ride make sure you have heeled shoes on that are closed. also you can walk behind a horse you just have to make sure they know your there.
melissa41000 5 months ago 2

nauraa000 5 months ago
So, pretty sure when you're behind a horse and it kicks you it's not "kicking at another horse" The horse cannot see you when you're right behind it and when you touch it, it'll think you're a predator and kick in self defense... I'm not even gonna make a comment about her grooming and riding skills..
TheRosewithoutathorn 5 months ago
@TheRosewithoutathorn

And a horse that rears at a riding school, seriously? Hope you carry loads of insurance. Though the horse is probably just reacting to dreadful hands and rider.

Here are my thoughts;
The same goes for kicking horses.

um the horses hoof can get hurt if they get on rocks even if the horse does have shoes. the frog is the most sensitive part on a horses hoof. and can get bruised very easily and if the horse steps on a sharp rock it can bruise the hoof. And you dont jerk the horses hair out like that, you can get horse detangler that helps. the horse does feel all of that.

1.Horses DO have feelings in their hooves, its called the Frog. Its the V shaped thing in the back/middle of the hoof.
2. Horses cant feel their mane being pulled on but they CAN feel their tail pulled on.
3. Don't ever turn a horse like that when its still hooked to the lead rope, its VERY dangerous.
4. Horses NEED a full tail to smack the flies!
I know this and I'm only 13. Gosh my dad knows more about horses and hes afraid of mine! I'm sorry but she knows NOTHING about horseback riding.

Stupid,Stupid,Stupid,Stupid, lady.......
bethedisgusting1 8 months ago
What horseman would want to have a thin tail? You're supposed to preserve it... And I think this woman really should study a bit of horse anatomy.. really. (most) horses don't like having their hair pulled out, and they MOST certainly have feelings in their hoofs, as especially in the frog. Excuse me, but I think it is pretty clear that she is NO expert. And why use a pelham if she's gonna pull that hard on the reins?
MajaDreki 8 months ago 2
God, the lady that's interviewing the so called "expert" has more sympathy and horse sense than their, again, so called "expert" Yuck. This lady just disgusts me with the way she treats her horses. I wish I could get them all out of there. They look absolutely MISERABLE. Poor babies.
Hoofprints111 8 months ago
She deserves to be kicked 1,003 times. More. C'mon horses, fling those hooves.
Hoofprints111 8 months ago
They should get rid of her and hire someone else!

When I took riding lessons back in germany I also was told to stay away from the fog when cleaning the feet of a horse because it can hurt the horse a lot.
That woman is really rough with the horse. She looks like a drug addict too!

"they have no feelings"? ohh really? and you have so many horses.. poor them:(

BrookemarieA 9 months ago
lol i couldn't help but laugh at this video. Those poor horses. I know the girl has never ridden before, but how is that poor horse supposed to trot with her holding back the reins so much?! And that expert is nooooo expert. I'm just a rider and even I know not to hammer at a horses hoofs. That's just mean...
BrookemarieA 9 months ago
D: Why don't we all hammer our horse's feet?!?! pssh it doesn't hurt them D: D:
and why the hell would you want a horse to have a thin tail?! And no lady, you didn't "trot" D:
PurplSmiley 9 months ago
yes, because heading straight for the top of their head first thing is not at all spooky... "a lot of people think that if they step on rocks or concrete they're hurting, but they're not... they can't feel anything in their feet" well, horses can go lame from rocks... reins over the head first...? what? but their trot style makes me laugh so hard...
annieoakley92 9 months ago

it is not up to 300 hundred dollars to shoe a jumper-_____- i have a thoroughbred mare who gets specialized shoes to correct her feet from an unexperienced previous owner. and its 90 dollarrs for her. this. is the most awful lesson on horses i have ever seen. i hurts to watch
horseluvor4 9 months ago 3
That girl is hurting her horse. Animals have there own feelings so they can feel it when your being so ruf. How would you feel if you were getting thrown around with rains.
priyasworld2001 9 months ago
no wonder why she has been kicked like 1000 times... your not suppose to just brush aggressivly cause they can actually feel it... also i have never tried to ride western but your seat is horrible and you are putting way to much pressure on the horses mouth no wounder why the horse is throwing his head up cause you are hurting him!!
Shayla2498 9 months ago

And FYI ripping out the horses hair IS painful that's like someone ripping out your ha
rtwerd 10 months ago
she must be the luckiest person in the world. if she had been doing that to my horse she would have been kicked in the face. about five times. massive respect for the horse for putting up with her shit.
kh103y 10 months ago
she said horses have no feeling in their hooves? yes they do, thats why when u pick out their feet, you avoid the frog.

WHEN A HORSE PINS ITS EARS THEY ARE AFRAID OR HURTING OR AGRIVATED!!! WHEN IN THAT VIDEO WERE THE HORSES EARS NOT BACK THATS WHAT I THOUGHT NEVER!!! UGHHHHHH
horsesrockma 11 months ago
She's falling off the saddle(: If rocks do not hurt the horses foot? Why pay __ per shoe when you could pay __ to trim it each time? Dumb, rocks hurt. Next, unless you want to go personally swat and kill every single fly that comes to your poorly cleaned stable, stop ripping out the horses fly swatters.
