Yes it is illegal in the real world markets and deliberate price manipulation in the game is illegal also. I have, however, seen in trading rooms where a number of traders get together in a group to move in on a stock - I'm sure that what they do is within the law (only just)

well i'm not sure if i should be saying this or not, but what my prof said he's witnessed it serveral firms, buying long or buying short mainly in a FX since it is heavily influenced in trades. it's not unusual but i'm quite surprised that this game is so life like.

On that game Runescape, are you able to buy short?(using the borrow,sell,buy back method)

No you cant borrow items then sell them so shorting isnt possible unless but I will sell my items at mid and buy back at minimum which is about as close as possible to a short

i did some research and went on this game, it's a bit like WoW but more mmorpg.

the gameplay seemed ok but you started with 25gp.

anyway onto topic, would you say the fundamentals of stockbroking apply to this game?

there is a free market and a full ecomony. All characteristics of a real market are there including greed, fear, a complete micro-economy, changes in supply and demand, market manipulation and scams. we also learn the istory of banking and such as we know that the first FORMS of modern banking were created by the knights of templar to gain money to survive. this game is set in a time similiar to the knights of the templar :L.

this game started off by only allowing traders to trade with each other - 1 cow for 2 chickens etc. It has its own economy in that players can develop s skill such as mining, smithing or fletching and trade items that they made. The merchanting worlds became so crowded and it was very tedious to trade, so about a year ago, Jagex introduced the automated trading. At first it was really easy to make money using stock trading techniques. I mean really easy lol. Bit harder now.
