I'd love to c if my deck could beat either of those decks. Just cause i haven't found many who have found a solid strat against it yet. I've faced everything from fiends, mixed decks, even some of the newer types of cards like blackwings and arcanas. But it's been along time since i had a duel so the newest cards might stand a better chance. Still this duel was pretty good i liked it.

Costs are not effects, so when an effect is activated, the cost is paid first, even if the effect would be later negated.

No, he's not right. Switching isn't the cost, read the card, theres a comma. It cannot be switched unless you can destroy the card, and skill drain, as well as Light-Mirror, negate that. Honestly, read the card. Where does it say in the first sentence "Switch this card to defense position. Destroy one spell or trap on the field." It's one sentence SO you can't switch her, it's negated.

actually lyla's effect isnt a cost. Because her effect says you can change her from atk to defense position AND destroy. if its said to. then it would be a cost. so in order for her to switch to defense the effect has to resolve so that means if skill drain is chained or LIP her effect wont resolve OR if the face down she is breaking is chained she wont change position. and can activate her effect again.

its a broken ruling. but its what they ruied at nats and on yugioh wikia.
