i used to have the exact same ipod and did the same thing...you need to get ipod linux and install it simultaneously with ipod software and you can do it

I've got this from downloading rockbox, but it's excrutiatingly slow.

It is same way like on nano or video.

You need install second OS (Linux) on iPod at first.

Then install iDoom.
