I liked this show a lot, and no matter what anyone says, I still love it. I think I am more in love with the ideas more than the acting, and I do have to say I was disappointed by the finale. Remember, the British and American views of humor are very different in some cases, more dry in the British way, and more stupidly based humor in the American way. Anyhow, Sam did pronounce David Bowies name correctly, based on what Bowie has said in the past about pronouncing his last name.
No, I think the premise was rethought by ABC execs, to help sell a US manned space mission to Mars. So it had all that "rover" crap sprinkled throughout it. Leaving us wondering if Sam wasn't already on Mars? Or was abducted by martians. Or was just a coma patient in a hospital. The idea that he deliberately choose to have no memory in his true identity in his sleeping state, stretches credibility. How would he recall his mission training, after that head trip? More like a "Wizard of Oz" ripoff.
I thought this version of the show portrayed the 70s a bit better (but then again Im american and dont know much about 1970s england). I thought it was done very well, but the english version has a much better finale.
1. You used the word "our" insinuating you're British, and have an obvious bias against the US.
2. You're from the UK, assuming you have UK television, and no actual access to American TV shows, then one comes to the conclusion you've never actually seen the American version of Life on Mars.
3. Even if you had seen Life on Mars (US), your opinion would still be moot because of point #1.

Does anyone else remember when the US tried to remake Red Dwarf?
Ashes to Ashes is over, much better ending. Probably because it had a LOT longer run time.
Even if there wasn't any Ashes to Ashes, the UK Life on Mars is much better than the US version.

Why was this ending so shit? The UK version was just beautiful. Had me crying with hapiness and sadness. What a softie.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Sure this is a ripe off of the english verion but it is better as the actors are better and the American verion is laced with astro theology

no offense but the point of the show was that it was real 1970's england, it just really misses the point of the show tbh
it doesn't seem as intelligent either

HAHAH FUCKING SHIT AMERICAN VERSION. What a pity that the US has to remake our shows for no reason instead of just showing ours.
We dont try and remake shows like House, we watch yours because they are stupendous.
